The cat I had years ago had the most amazing talent of turning the purr box on & off depending on whether food was available. 😺
All of my 4 cats purr loudly.I have one bad tempered cat that I don't hear it purr.She rarely wants to be petted.
I have a 10 year outdoor old kitty named Bear Bear who is FIV positive. He lives in the richness of my back yard with everything a king could want.... Especially human contact!! His purrs are more like thrills and are so loud that the house neighbors on with side of me can hear him when becomes in contact with familiar and loving hands! The neighbors get so tickled when they hear it.😹.
Stroke...thrillllll....stroke....thrilllll. The session lasts as long as the petting continues. A very content kitty😺
My little fat girl common cat has a short nose. She was not bred that way.. just came out that way. She has the LOUDEST purr of all the cats that ever adopted me. And she's never shy to express her satisfaction of my touch. My big Weegie, 50% larger than she, purrs so softly that I only hear him when he puts his nose in my ear. Which he does.. when he wants me to know he's contented..
I had an indoor kitty I rescued and she loved too sleep with me. She would purr us both to sleep. I sure do miss her.
I had a Kmart in my town. It even had the Kmart restaurant. I have 2 cats and both are senior citizens. My male cat is very social and affectionate. He normally purrs. My other cat is a female and she rarely purrs. She normally likes to keep to herself.
Was it the K Cafe, or the Little Caesar's restaurant?
I truly believe my kitty will communicate with me. He rarely meows, but when I call his name, he gives me a short mumble. If I ask him if he is hungry, his mumble is longer, and like right now, he has a repetitive mumble, which I believe is his desire to play.
Only when he is scared or stuck in the closed shower room will he meow.
If I go up to him and I say hey, he will give me a very short mumble. I love this lil guy!
I miss Kmart those were the good old days 😅 my cat purrs when I hold her in my arms and sometimes falls off to sleep like that
My 10 year old cat purrs loud! When he was ill, there wasn’t any purr. None a all. But, a trip to the vet, and meds, he got better, and the purr is very loud once again. ❤

When my Lady Nugget is tired but wants pets she will give me the paw gesture and attempt at a purr but it comes out as a “wee stuttery purr”. Very cute

I have a big boy who is 2½. He hardly meows, he squeaks, and I have never heard him purr. I asked the vet about this and she said his vocal chords are too thick to allow a real meow but he squeaks instead and he will never be able to purr. But I know he is content. He lets me know in other ways that he is happy and content.
Yes I remember Kmart. 😅 My senior girl Fiona purrs while sleeping. I stroke her back gently and she really turns up the volume. I think she thinks I am her mommy.

My 17 year old girl purrs all the time now, but she’s not acting sick of in distressed in anyway. She seems pretty happy and even a big playful.

The Maine coon cat that I used to have had a lovely, loud purr. The calico I have now, almost never purrs. Or maybe I just can’t hear her, but I miss the noise.
Luna always purrs when she's around me, and she is ALWAYS around me.
The cat I had a few years ago had quite a musical purr and used it while he was eating ,I used to tell him he was singing to his super .Our current cat has quite a strong purr and the volume tends to go up when he's being petted and spoken to .I often purr back to him (or at least try ) which he seems to take as a good thing .

Yall know that on certain level when they purr, they are healing themselves when hurt? They knit bone, heal tendons and nerves. They're so amazing. They can also heal their people too when your not feeling good. Oh and I loved Kmart😂
I have 5 cats, 3 from one litter and two from a different litter. The 2 older cats have very tiny purrs, rarely heard yet they're both very vocal and quite content with life. The 3 youngsters have the tiniest kittenish voices, but boy those purrs! Porgy, the ginger giant should have been named chopper or diesel! And yes, I remember Kmart, my ex was a cashier there even.

Both my boys purr. George is much more subtle but Felix is a big 'ol' purr monster. The two of them bunt so hard it's like a crack in the bridge of the nose. 😊 Only time I got lost as a kid was at K-Mart. The nice K-Mart lady in the red vest led me to customer service and they paged my Mom. Never was so glad to see her! 😂

I had rescued a stray kitten 15 almost 16 years ago while I was on duty deployment for u s m c it was the 2nd to last day of our deployment orders when I heard a cat/kitten crying in the distance when I found her she wasn’t even 1 pound I remember bottle feeding that kitten every 2 to 3 hrs after I found her I name her Spirit she fought to stay alive I still remember Spirit curl up in a ball inside my helmet on the flight home I took her home to my house honestly I didn’t think she would live long the days turned into weeks then months I had that little baby kitten live just over 14 years you talk about a cat that could purr she could be in my living room down the hallway from the bedrooms and I could here that cat purr 4 sometimes 5 rooms away she was such a love bug with me would almost sleep on top of my head or curl up in my arm and just lay there for hrs Spirit passed away 3 1/2 years ago I know I’ll never find another kitten like her that baby girl help me through many of painful nights after I tragically lost my dad in 2019 the whole time I took leave from work to handle my dad’s things that kitten wouldn’t leave my side I say kitten because I know Spirit didn’t get properly nutrition I’m sure she was only a week maybe two weeks old when I found her she weighed 7 pounds small body she loved to play and play if I or my husband didn’t give her attention she’d plop herself down right in the newspaper in the morning on my husband Joe’s lap it was funny to watch god knows how much I miss my fur baby Spirit I’d done anything to still have her today you can’t slow down aging in our pets thank you for taking the time to read my comment my apologies being long winded I hope everyone gets a little laugh take care stay safe love our kiddos weather they be 2 legged or 4 legged 😘
