It's crazy how fun and nostalgic these memoires are. And then you do the bucket list life links and substories, which show actual older characters, and most of them are so disappointing because RGG doesn't let Kiryu meet them
Yeah this is cool and all but I really hoped they let him meet shinada and tanimura one last time Tanimura should come back in judgment games at least cmon
I do agree that it's disappointing to some, but the main reason that has been outlined about why RGG wouldn't let our Dragon meet his friends and family is explained in Like a Dragon Gaiden and it wouldn't make sense that they would overlook/retcon this considering Yakuza 6 and Kiryu's appearance in 7 literally exists and Gaiden's release. Basically when Kiryu did the deal with the Daidoji faction at the end of the 6th game, it meant that he would remain dead, keeping his friends and family safe while offering to serve the faction, and that if he would appear to anyone, friends or family (meeting Date is kinda obvious since he witnessed the deal betwween the faction member), it would mean he broke the deal and that the Daidoji would come at his family and make them pay. throughout the whole game (I haven't played it but still) Kiryu is still employed by the faction, having that mission assigned to him in Hawaii. Yeah I know he has cancer and everything but I believe that just seeing his allies and family are doing and faring well is good enough. Ever since he entered the Yakuza world, he walked this grey line as he puts it, yet he would see in his eyes that people would suffer around him, and he still went on. I do believe RGG is going to bring a happy ending and closure to Kiryu, He may have passed the torch, but I still believe he will get that happily ever after we all want for him.

“But a former yakuza meeting up with a police officer? That’d just spell trouble for him.” Said by the man who one of his closest friends & one of the few people who knew he faked his death is a police detective.
Though while it would be great if Shinada returned, his story ended pretty well (to the point he has probably the happiest ending of all the RGG characters) so there would be no reason for him to return. Tanimura would would be cool if he came back though as there are more stuff they could do with him.
Still waiting for Tanimura to return someday. There is so much potential for that character. Especially considering that the Daidoji faction is literally a mafia like oppressive police force, which is exactly what Tanimura would want to fight against.
Little things like this are what make this game so bitter sweet, it really does feel like the true goodbye to a character we've been growing up alongside for 20 years.
I still really feel that RGG really dropped the ball when they just forgot Tanimura. I know Yakuza fans point out that the other playable characters are best in their initial games where they’re only dealing with their own personal stories (the best example of this being Saejima’s story in 4 being a much more personal and invested story in comparison to his story in 5) but I feel like there was more to do with him in the subsequent games after 4 (my personal thoughts being that in 5, he should have been the one investigating Mirei Park’s death and playing detective instead of Akiyama and he should have been part 6’s story where the game’s villains burned down Little Asia and he wanted justice for that). I even remember seeing somewhere online that someone theorised that Tanimura actually died in the Little Asia fire in 6. Though, I am fine with Shinada not being brought back as I feel like his story in 5 ended in a good place for him. But I would have liked to have seen him come back in a substory specifically to interact with Ichiban, with how both of their stories are very similar in how their lives hit rockbottom but through their own determination to never losing hope and the friends they made along the way, they find happiness after all their betrayals, heartbreak and tribulations.
There actually was an event in RGG Online that explains where is Tanimura during yakuza 6. He was probably hiding from Ed like Akiyama. It's translated on TH-cam. It's called "Assassin from mainland" or something
One of the biggest problems I had with 5:s story was that I always felt the twist that Majima being Parks husband was handled pretty clunky because of how complicated the story was in the game. Saejima being the one solving the Park murder would've made a lot of sense because there would be no way for Saejima to not figure out that she was married to Majima so the twist would've been handled much better. Plus unlike Akiyama, Saejima has met Haruka so them knowing each other also would make a lot of sense.
I feel like people forget that 4 was mostly Tanimura's story, or rather a lot of it is centered around him. To the point that technically the final boss is his, and a lot of the conflict belongs to him. It's the same way Shinada's story in 5 felt like one big story sliced off from the other stories that it could be one and done.
Bring back Tanimura and Shinada to Y9 as playable characters, RGG, please. I assume that Adachi also knows Tanimura, because both of them know Date from their job. It could be cool if Tanimura was actually his friend.
They deserve to appear in the next game, the opportunity is that due to the friendship between Daigo Dojima and Kiryu there will be a storyline with the Kasuga team, maybe Tanimura and Shinada will fight with the Kasuga team and then get defeated and will become Kasuga's deliveries. And Minami Daisaku.

They could've done something like Persona 5 does when older characters like rise and yukari appear in tv like the devs are saying "They are fine"
I NEVER THOUGHT OF THAT.
Tanimura in a Judgment game would fit so well wtffff

I'm glad Tanimura and Shinada haven't been forgotten. But I wish they could've been as cameos
With Shinada, they could’ve had him coaching a minor league team in Hawaii.

TBF Date almost got killed many times just because he knew Kiryu.

So Tanimura's alive and probably still in Kamurucho but Kiryu was worried that it would be bad if they meet? I mean, when did that ever stopped him?
I wonder if there is a kuze memoir

Is that an Oda memoir I see?
yeah! I'll make a video showing off all memoires where Kiryu talks about older characters, and a video showing off all Memoires
