- Kashiwagi Bucket List Substory in Like a Dragon: Infinite Wealth
This was my first attempt, and I definitely came unprepared. Doesn't help that I accidentally switched styles with Kiryu at the end, causing me to sustain unnecessary damage.

@@samfire3067 he was in yokohama for more than 10 years. Ykauza 3 is set in 2009. Yakuza: Like a Dragon set in 2019, where Kashiwagi is already known as a good ol' bartender. It doesn't work even as a theory
@@samfire3067he literally explained how he ended up as a bartender he survived a near death experience then came to ijincho and was there ever since which implies that almost immediately after he recovered he left and went to ijincho

actually in Y7, there's an unwritten agreement that the Yokohama homeless community follows.
1. If death bodies arrived, clean up immediately and leave no trace
2. If the supposed to be "dead bodies" is still alive, the community have to make sure the person kept alive until he is conscious
It seems like kashiwagi is the person in to receive the number 2 law before Ichiban that's why he called his bar survivor. He never receive proper burial and probably disposed by Arakawa crew but he is alive
I love this conversation between these two. They both know who they really are, but they respect one another's charade. _But_ they still found a way to converse with one another as their true identities, while also maintaining their new ones.
Layers upon layers upon layers, just like how the Japanese elegantly do it.

I seriously struggled to believe that was really him in like a dragon. I figured rgg just felt like F'ing with us but just allowing that actor to have a cameo as a different character. But than here it sealed the deal. Wait a minute? Does that mean the American guy in yakuza 3 survived his fall and ended up working at revolve in hawaii???
@@peeweedinosuar3281 maybe. I never played Y3 (the only game I skipped from Y series), but from what I read, I assumed Andre is like a secret agent/mercenaries/well trained specialist. Just thought he's doing something like in Mission: Impossible stunts, he threw himself to one of the building windows. And for Mine, yeah he's died. His ghost shown up in Y6 camera session.

Kashiwagi is the last connection Kiryu has to Kazama.

The callback to 'being too old to be told what to do' from 0 was really good.
It's kinda sad when you realise that other than Pocket Circuit Fighter and Daigo, Kashiwagi is the only living friend Kiryu still has since 0

TFW Pocket Circuit Fighter is one of em. Dude maxed out on life goals. Married, has a kid, runs a thriving business, funds his passion project-slash-hobby...
I know we're most likely never going to see them actually talk to each other again as Kiryu and Kashiwagi, but I will forever be so grateful that they kept Kashiwagi alive and at least gave us this moment with the two. Kashiwagi being Kiryu's oldest friend/mentor all the way from Yakuza 0 makes this moment so incredible, with him acknowledging Kiryu's struggles throughout the years and him telling Kiryu that he deserves a happy life after all he's been through.
I really, really, really, REALLY somehow hope we see them speak. Kiryu as a man who's taken back his name.
I love how this a deep heart to heart under the guise of "I don't know who this man is"
Besides that, I'm real hungry for some Cold Noodles, for no particular reason.
The Japanese way of doing things: subtly, and elegantly.
The saddest thing is Kashiwagi must be holding back a lot seeing Kiryu like this, he's the aniki/elder....not Kiryu.
We need Yakuza Gaiden 2, this time the protag is Kashiwagi.
Well yeah, that is pretty much why he told Kiryu to come back when he reclaims his name.
And the awesome thing about this is if you do judgment-jepan at survive he will be on the piano like he did all way back in the bubble era in 0
Now after this cutscene I really want "Like a Dragon Gaiden 2: Another man who erased his name" starring this Bartender who definitely isnt Kashiwagi.

Kiryu finally meeting Kashiwagi again is such a sweet scene that I’m willing to ignore the fact that even if Kashiwagi could somehow survive being mowed down by a helicopter then he’d be doing every single bodily function that he has through a tube.
It was great joke in 7 and i love this story. Kashiwagi is the only one, that see, there's life after yakuza. That's what he's teaching Kiryu here. What Kiryu couldn't work through his entire life. AND, the last quest in 7 talked about Y3, helicopter and a miracle. It was great. And then...they ruined it here with Richardson.
I mean depending on where he was hit anyway and for how long he was on the floor

@@Yanramich depending on where you get hit, you can survive a small bullet to the head if the shooter is far away enough. It’s THEORETICALLY possible.

Kashiwagi speaks in a distant and respectful manner throughout the conversation.
But only here 6:14 he speaks without honorifics.
I want fans who don't understand Japanese to know this.

there's something heartbreaking about Kiryu subtly alluding to cold noodles then going right past "subtle" with the "you look just like a guy I knew..." routine. it's like he's desperately hoping for Kashiwagi to answer with something that gives them the all-clear to drop the facade, even though he knows that for now, they can't :(
Much like how Kiryu and Morinaga were able to strike a friendship through their Joryu and Hanawa aliases, but this hits much deeper.
Morinaga being Hanawa is just a theory.
@@diccchocolate416they have the same voice actor and morinaga completely disappeared without any clue what hapoened to him, even aizawa never answered when kiryu asked him if he killed morinaga.. so its 99% sure .. and the alias from yakuza 5, not a lot of people knew him under this name

Believe me, man, I was sobbing like a child throughout the entirety of Kiryu's part.
I love how at the end Kashiwagi breaks his character and pretty much straight up tells him to come back for a drink when he doesn't have to hide his identity. He really wants to have a open conversation with him without him pretending like he is a "nobody".
I want a game wish Kashiwagi as main character. There is no way he is not strong.

i feel like there is a real missed opportunity with kashiwagi and the theme of getting people out of the yakuza in IW bc he was doing that in Y3 HLA. you know before faking his death. kiryu really takes after him in that regard.

Is this the only time we've heard Kiryu refer to kashiwagi as aniki? I mean it's pretty clear that he was young Kiryus aniki but I don't remember him referring to him that way in any other scene

@@jackwayne922 I presume you didn't play Gaiden, he made a deal with the Daidoji, and one of the terms of that deal were that he should not anyone find out that he's actually Kiryu. Date almost gets himself killed for setting up a meeting between Haruka and Kiryu, the only reason they didn't kill him was because Kiryu decided against talking to her. It's super obvious that Kashiwagi and Kiryu are aware of each other, the only reason they make vague references to each other is because they both want to keep their identity hidden whether they like it or not

@@jackwayne922 they know they both have reasons for changing their identities and they are respecting it out of love for each other. He told him to come back once he takes his name back. They aren’t talking like strangers at all lol. They are just being respectful to each other’s identities. He even gave him at advise since he knows he Kiryu can be closed off and needs to rely on help sometimes. But they all want to leave that yakuza life behind and rather not speak on it. I see the same with a lot of war veterans
Although i have completed the game 3 times(normal, hard and legend) its still annoying to see that both kashiwagi and kiryu didnt acknowledge each other 😮💨😮💨

Hamazakis arrest literally is what led to setting up the events for saejimas introduction and also many of the significant characters or plot points regarding them shaped or predicted events that would be discussed more in the future games
