Just did the oil pan gasket on my 01 4.7 and I dropped the transmission crossmember to lower the exhaust system. Worked really well and the crossmember is very easy to remove.
2006 4.7 Limited, and probably bad rod bearing(s). And just to take the oil pan down and check it out the dealership assumes it can go up to 3000 Usd because they need to take down the whole front axle assembly. Probably quicker and cheaper to remove the engine and do a total overhaul on the engine. I live in Iceland and everything is expensive.
This is the best video describing the Pan, windage tray/gasket and oil pickup tube. I need a new pan (rusted leaking) but do I 100% need a new windage tray? Also, if reusing the pickup tube, I can order just a new gasket for that? Thanks!! Very enjoyable informative video.
was this a 4wd jeep? i dont see a front diff and im trying to pull my oil pan so i can change a piston but my diff is giving me problems not sure how to go around it
My diff is mounted to a engine cradle where as here its a floating diff in the axle I finally got the diff off engine raised and oil pan off to swap the piston I'm running and driving now!
@@livenfree wheels off, axels out, release clevis pin to completely remove axle, drop crossmember, remove front drive shaft (paint or marker alignment marks for later) and use plenty extensions/wobble sockets to make it a little easier. Then use a jack to support the diff, and I beleive its 3 separate mounts remove those and it should come out. not easy not fast, and unless your a part time strong man you will need a extra hand to remove the diff. good luck hope that helps.
@@EliteSniperFMJ I ended up finding a guy on Jeepforum.com who led me to just loosen the differential & along w/ loosing & prying down the rear crossmember. & it came out. Made a video. Will try to share the link here if it will let me to help others in the future.
Bull shit...rtv it! Im going back into mine cuz it's leaking with a no rtv install! Don't do it twice.. its a pain in the ass....justc spend the $10 and rtv it!
