After watching all your most recent content, I thought I would go back to where you both started. Although I do not speak German, I can still understand your intent and plan. All I would like to say that is you are both incredible people, showing us all what is possible with the right attitude, material and tools. Thank you for your insight into owning and operating a Land Rover and Christian, your fabrication skills are amazing, your Dad (Master tool maker) would be proud of what you produce. Thank you once again and keep the excellent content coming.
Wow... This video popped up as a suggestion today, and I'm so impressed how far your channel has come. You were just baby TH-camrs back then, so cute! ❤
Amazing craftmanship - thank you for sharing this process. It was mesmerizing to watch. Also the outcome is excellent. Looking forward for more vids - subscribed!
Having built my own tire carrier for the Disco 3 and installed many after market ones on about 4 Disco3-4 models I have decided building your own is a much better feeling. Your version is much simpler to build than a whole bumper with swing away system. But each version has it's challenges. I liked your build and I will look into upgrading mine if I ever come up to that choice again. Great work.
Visiting all your previous videos and I'm seriously impressed. Liked the reference to "This Old Tony" very much. You inspire me to make more mods to my old shape Defender.
It's sad that he doesn't upload as much anymore, so his videos don't come to mind as much . Now these days, we refer to Curtis from Cutting Edge Tech a lot.👍😀🙋♀️Vera
That is a wonderful job, I loved watching it, but way too complicated for most people watching. We need a bush mechanic who does not have a comprehensive workshop like you, I am jealous. Some people use a stub axle from a trailer. Having said all that love your show, ex German now Australia. 3 yrs old
Good job, and your work is very professional, specially the details, there are some details you could dismiss them, but you didn’t, that’s shows how professional you are and talented, I just bought the LR3, and I’m preparing it for off-road , & I checked with some local suppliers & welders, they made it a nightmare for me, but when I saw your video you made it so so so easy. And I just took the measurements of the spare wheel and planning to follow your steps. Thank you for publishing and sharing videos like that, I have a channel & I know it is not easy for such videos.
Oh boy, I hope you have watched also other videos from us. That was just about the first video we ever did for TH-cam. 😀👍We have, however, modified that spare wheel carrier into a expedition kanister and traction board holder in one of our last videos. th-cam.com/video/XFbWf94DrVU/w-d-xo.html For us here in Europe, going to not too long trips, it makes no sense in carrying a second spare wheel. 😀 But I am sure your's will be great and it's going to look so good on your Disco .🙋♀️Vera
Dear Christian. I also carry 2 spare wheels when away from home. Would life be easier if you had just bought the carrier? Whatever, I enjoy watching your fabrication skill and craftmanship.
Hi. I see all of your films, they are very good. This job was fantastic, I would like to know how to do it, but unfortunately I don't have the skills for that. A hug from Portugal
I wonder why you set it up on the right hand side. The other side would be much more convenient in a country with right - side traffic (and parking). Moreover, the rear window is smaller on the left side, anyway.
Well, when I open it while the car is parked, it opens toward the sidewalk and not toward the middle of the road. Remember, everything else is also the other way around here, not only the steering wheel. 🙋♀️Vera
@Christian and Vera, did the spare wheel carrier last and work on trips? Any things you would have done differently after having used it? I have gotten some quotes to buy one and there is no way, I will also rather build my own. Thanks for the good video
Hello Herman, we have modified the spare wheel carrier to a fuel tank and traction board carrier last year. Here in Europe, we just don't need 2 spare wheels for our kind of travel, at the moment at least. But, while we used it as a spare wheel carrier it worked just fine. We did not change it because it did not work. Just because we did not need it. Check this video out for the build th-cam.com/video/XFbWf94DrVU/w-d-xo.html 🙋♀️Vera
Excellent....two questions....have you got all the specs written down.....and could you do it again but in English (for those of us whom only speak a single language) would like this for a FL2 also.
Was sagt denn der Prüfer bei der HU dazu? So wegen 45° Winkel Sichtbarkeit des rechten Rücklichts. Vom fehlenden Materialgutachten mal ganz zu schweigen.
Oh you noticed. The folding scales or whatever they are called are more common. Of course tape measures are available but they are not good to point at stuff and talk so smart about it to your friends. Then you can’t open bear bottles with a tape measure. This is the primary function of the foldable scales - not measuring stuff. 😬👍
Excellent design and solution. I am about to built one for my LR4. Do you have some drawing? What about return of experience (i.e use) of your carrier. Did you experence shaky off-road conditions?
No, no shaking what so ever. Unfortunately there are no drawings. We might do another take on it because now we have traction boards mounted to the carrier. We did not take a 2nd spare wheel with us this year because we had the mountain bikes with us. 🙋♀️ Vera
Gemäß der Vorgänger Modelle und der asymmetrischen Heckklappe hätte der Halter doch auf die andere Seite gehört, oder nicht? Trotzdem sehr schön gemacht.
@@Vera_and_Christian no, what is it Vera? It’s a wonder Christian doesn’t buy cheap renovation projects to keep himself amused as he has all the skills and some
Is it possible to pay you for your dimensions and parts list? I have access to a machine shop for the first time and would love to do this to my LR4. If you could help me I would really appreciate it.
Really great informative videos, great humour just discovered your channel. Have a 2005 Disco 3 myself which i have turned into an overlander. Looking for your sliding rear tray for the fridge, where did you find that? or is it another of your fantastic builds? Regards Phil
We don't even have this set up anymore. It is now my spare canister and traction board holder. Here in Central Europe, we just don't need 2 Sparewheels. 🙋♀️Vera
Great to watch but is there any chance of an English version so a non engineering numpty can understand a bit more . Buy the way I'm now hooked lol keep going.
No, unfortunately not. That the spare part carrier was very first videos we made. More or less just for fun, and he did not really said anything of importance, no explaining or rambling, like these days 😅. Like I said, it was a first try with youtube. 🙋♀️Vera
@@Vera_and_Christian Hi Vera thanks for the reply hope you guys are all safe and well. I would love to see what you guys could do to a D3 commercial with all that space for Christian to get creative in 😉
@@Vera_and_Christian YES PLEASE - but obviously would have to be a little more like the Terrafirma version that doesn't require cutting a hole in the center for the clasp.

We actually have two spare wheels when we leave the country. Reason is that we had a flat in Croatia once before and it left a bad taste with us.
