I opened my bottle of this incredible juice this past New Years eve and it was heavenly! I actually went back to the state store a couple days later and picked up 2 additional bottles. A true flavor bomb!

Another great review, Erik. This sounds VERY interesting and a bit of a "tweener" that I might really enjoy. I appreciate your content has a lot of unique information and exposure to different expressions. Keep up the fabulous content. I'm going to find a bottle of this winner.

100% agree this stuff is amazing. I have gone through 3 bottles in 2020 already and i very rarely drink the same thing on consecutive days.i like variety but i find it hard to not want to sip this one often.

I agree!!! I will ALWAYS have Joseph Magnus in my bar. I dont buy expensive whiskies for fear of "wasting my money" or "being tricked" ... but I loved the bottle design and the marketing, so I thought if this sucked, I would at least have a cool looking bottle. However, it was the greatest whiskey I've ever tried. I have about 75 bottles in my collection. This one instantly became #1. I have been through several bottles since then. When I am at the store looking at two $50 bottles, I wonder..."should I just spend that $100 on Joseph Magnus??" and KNOW that I am getting a phenomenal bottle of whiskey... With 75 bottles, clearly I like experimenting, but this one is extra special. I have told friends to buy it...and if they dont like it, I will buy the open bottle from them.

Thanks for commenting. After I finish the current series on Highland Peated Whiskies I'll be doing a series on Sherry Cask whiskies and return to this bottle for another look at it. Stay tuned!

Found 4-5 bottles in Houston today. Glad I bought one, they also have the Murray's there as well. Might go back and get another of both tomorrow if they're there.

I actually grabbed a bottle of this yesterday and tried it for the first time. It is truly a spectacular whiskey and it goes way beyond the flavor profile of any bourbon I’ve ever tried. It is way more akin to a scotch with a savory edge, and a lightly dusted roasted corn note in the distance. The iced coffee note/iced tea note is unmistakable. I actually watched your first review of this yesterday after getting home from the store. Ha! And now you’ve just posted a second review of it! Great stuff! Best bourbon I’ve ever had. Probably because it’s more akin to a scotch!

I agree 100%. I have been redoing some old reviews and deleting the old ones. But I decided to keep both and add "Deja Vu" to the title. I now have better lighting and have made a lot of other improvements. Learning to make better videos is a never ending process.

This is in my current top two. Certainly agree with 93.3 score. Unfortunately, not found in my state. Looking forward the cigar blend. Been told its "hairy knuckle" bold. Can't wait to try it someday post-covid.

The triple cask is the best whiskey I’ve owned to date I don’t have infinite resources and I’ve only been at it 2 yrs so that factors in but man crazy good.

This one is interesting. I started out the whiskey journey with bourbon. Now I have become primarily a scotch lover of all the Scotland regions. I think this whiskey would be right up my alley. I'll be on the lookout.

I think you’ll like it, especially if you’re a sherry cask finish Scotch lover.

@@ErikWaitWhiskyStudies You know what Erik, I actually got corn notes right off the bat. The finish reminds me of corn bread and corn field dust with those faint salted notes and I love it. But that was the the neck pour. I am sure the sherry, cognac notes will come out more as it opens. I also have a bottle of the cigar Blend which I can't wait for. But I really need to study this bottle because I get to the cigar blend.

I literally just bought a bottle tonight. The neck of the bottle tasted slightly different to me, having much more of an orange peel and baking spice nose and palette. Then, all hell broke loose. Got a little deeper and poured a glass and let it rest a few minutes, came back and I didn't know it was bourbon for a second. Large coffee, buttercream, hint of chocolate, hint of sweet pipe tobacco, and finished with a slight candied orange note. Surprisingly, the taste was very similar. I'm a Scotch guy at heart, mostly an Islay guy but I also enjoy Balvenie and others that aren't heavily peated. Wow, this was a great drink. Can't believe the quality of this considering it's a sourced unknown mashbill whiskey.

    • @johnroper1197

@@TheGrafton12 If you can get it for about 100-110 then yes. I wouldn't pay more than that. If you really like Kentucky Straight bourbon, or classic flavors, this won't be your cup of tea.

@@johnroper1197 Thanks! Are there cheaper but well known brands whose flavor profile would be in the Ballpark?

    • @johnroper1197
      @johnroper1197 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@@TheGrafton12 I can get you in the 80$ range with Knob Creek 12 or Remus Repeal (edition 3 or 2). Can't really get the unique flavors for less, but good standard bourbons that will have great flavor profiles are Old Forester 1920 (Prohibition Style) 65$, Russel Reserve Single Barrel (red label) 60$, or my personal go to is Wild Turkey Rare Breed 40$.
Something you might try for real cheap for now, is Old Tub (Kentucky Straight, Bottled in Bond) 25$.
      Hope this helps, cheer's

Get mine from potomac wine and spirits. Have it shipped to Hawaii. They have the best price. Just ordered 4 bottles. I love this stuff and I also love heavily sherried Scotch too.

I have two new series beginning in December 2020: (1) Peated Highland Single Malt Scotch Whiskies which will run at least through January 2021 (2) "Wee Dram" a new Play List for daily short videos (under one minute) for which I'll be doing a Whisky Advent Calendar from December 1-25.

I found a bottle at 95.00. I bought it based on your review. Would never have given it a second glance otherwise.
Never spent more than 70 bucks for a bottle of liquor prior to covid. Since then have purchased 6 bottles over 90 bucks since my typical 200 plus per week for "entertainment" has been reduced by 2/3rds. A silver lining of sorts since I'm trying brands I never would have and stocking up a lot of bottles for the future.

Believe it or not, I bought a 350 ML in Texas for $14. Maybe it was a promotional price? I drank it in 4 days while in Texas.. TW&M sells the 375 ML for $65 here and the 750 ML is $80. Only $15 more for a bottle twice the size. BUY THE 750ML!
