It was about time Howard got his own documentary! He’s still such an inspiration to me personally. It’s sad he can’t see how much joy he brings to people for so many years. I hope they’ll make a documentary about Alan Menken as well. They made my childhood so full of magic and fantasy.
I wept after watching Howard. Howard Ashman is the lyricist and spirit of my childhood. Thank you for making this podcast to continue to celebrate him!

I saw the film "Howard" and as Ms. Benson and Ms. O'Hara so eloquently put it, it is an incredible journey through the life of an incredible man. My childhood was so magical and I owe it all the the beautiful work of Howard Ashman and Alan Menken. Howard was truly legend whose legacy will live on forever.
Howard was such a driven individual, such an inspiring individual. The ways he helped push the actors and actresses is rarely seen anymore. This story about him and his life and all the people who were privileged enough to get to know and love him is such a wonderful story.
It's hard to choose a favorite, but I definitely love all the songs in "Beauty and the Beast", though I never got into "Human Again" in the special edition. Good thing the original theatrical version is on Disney+.
I saw “Howard” on Disney plus recently. It was amazing. Were it not for him, I would never have gotten to hear “Friend Like Me”, which is my favorite Aladdin song. I would also never have gotten to hear Jodi Benson’s wonderful voice as Ariel in The Little Mermaid or Samuel E. Wright’s energetic vocals as Sebastian the crab in “Under The Sea”. A part of me will always wonder what else he would have done had AIDS not cut his life so short. At the same time, it was very eye-opening to learn about how much he struggled to make it as a playwright and a songwriter, as well as how he suffered during the last years of his life from AIDS. He could have given up so easily, but he didn’t. He put his heart and soul into his work, in spite of, or perhaps, because of the fact that he knew his time was limited. Rest In Peace, Howard Ashman. You were gone too soon. May your work at Disney never be forgotten.
Friend Like Me is the best. Combine Ashman at his best, Menken at his best, Goldberg at his best, Williams at his best, it’s unbelievable how good that song was. It had no right to be.
I saw "Howard" on Disney+ and I wanted to cry. As an early 90s baby, I practically grew up with his songs from "The Little Mermaid", "Aladdin" and especially "Beauty and the Beast". The songs are still so memorable and iconic as they were about 30 years ago, and now I've fell in love with his songs from "Little Shop of Horrors" as an adult. It sucked that such an amazing songwriter died so soon. Now even after singing the songs as I had when I was little, I'll never hear or think about them the same way again because of Howard Ashman's incredible influence. Same goes for Alan Menken. He scored almost every Disney film of my early childhood and he is as amazing as John Williams. Still think he was robbed of the Oscar for "The Hunchback of Notre Dame". Wish I could meet and thank him for making my childhood so magical.
I think it's the very first time I see a Bill Lauch considered, and officially recognized, by Disney to remembering Howard. It's a lovely and respectful detail! :)

I cannot sing or listen that song without crying. Specially after watching Waking Sleeping Beauty. Jesus Christ, he was really unique.
