- Come for the heritage unit, stay for the SEPTA/Amtrak traffic
I got word that SEPTA had just unveiled their 1st heritage unit since Silverliner II 269 roamed the rails. Silverliner IV 280 (Former RDG 9018, the 1st IV ever produced) had its original livery and 50 years worth of grime (more than just dirt) cleaned and given the same bare but historical livery the car had upon delivery sporting a RDG diamond and SEPTA "meatball" logo from the 70s. Interesting this came at the same time the Kawasaki Trolley 9000 was painted in its historical livery before donation to a museum and when SEPTA cancelled their order for poorly made double deck coaches. You'll see this unit 3 times throughout the video. Enjoy.

Take a ride on the reading, don't collect 200 dollars
that reference is a nice touch.
THUNDERBOLT! I JUST WANT TO GET A REMASTERD VERSION OF THE HINTON TRAIN COLLISION! PLEASE! I HAVE BEEN WAITING SO LONG!!!
bro i heard the intro and went "oh shit nostalgia time"
Now we just need an Amtrak cab car painted in its original scheme
14:47 I think what makes it stand out is the lack of all the grime compared to the others.
50 years of it yes. There was a lot more than just dirt on those cars...
Now need PRR and the mating worms.
Or the Conrail logo
PRR is unlikely as none of SEPTA's current fleet is Ex PRR anymore but there's 3 more planned supposedly so I'm guessing there'll be a PC car, a CR one (very rare as only a handful of Silverliners II-IV had that logo) & a 90s era SEPTA one (just the box logo) SEPTA made that car near 100% original (the only things are the ditch lights and road number for this RDG car) That said a PRR ACS-64 would look so cursed but nice if done right... Looking at you NJT
@@Thunderbolt_1000_Siren too bad that Septa didn’t persevere an RDC
You did a great job with this one man I'm impressed 0:20
Thanks
@@Thunderbolt_1000_Siren Any time man keep up the good work
That was a great catch of the RDG heritage unit. Good job overall!
I was at Wynnewood when this train came along. It looks so clean!
I wonder if there's also going to be a Penn Central or Conrail heritage unit.
There's a total of 3 more planned from what I've heard so I'd probably expect those 2 and the 90s era SEPTA livery (just the box logo)
Spotted #280 @Torresdale Station today (Saturday) on the former R7/Trenton Line 🚋👍. Looks good 🚋👍.
Cool!
Get some Train footage on the Fox Chase Line! At some points in the day Fox Chase station can have some good spots for footage!
- btw I hope you keep up the good work and keep on filmin some trains!
Oh that is very nice! 😊
Awesome Heritage
They really did a nice job with that. Who knows maybe we’ll get a blue wrapped one next 😂
Blue wrapped one?
@@Thunderbolt_1000_Siren maybe they’ll go even farther back and make a heritage Blueliner
I LIKED IT
Nice that they did a car with the Reading logos. but why didn't they save a few of those rare St. Louis Car Company Silverliners back in 2016. The cars were in excellent condition inside and out and SEPTA sold them for very little to a scrap dealer in Newark, N. J., where they were cut up. SEPTA didn't even bother to remove the pantographs. I have video of trains of SEPTA Silverliners being hauled up to Newark.
1 II is confirmed to be preserved (think the number was either 9010 or 9001) it is scheduled to go to the Reading Railroad Museum in Hamburg, PA in due time however of course CSX and NS are fighting about shipping and moves like this normally takes months or even years before it finally gets 1 step anywhere to it's destination -__- that's happened so many times from my experience but at least the II is hidden so vandals can't ruin it which is sadly what happened to the St Louie car 238. 238 the sole III was also considered but no one wanted it and the museum only wanted the II cause it was a Reading car, not Penn Central.
Hey thunderbolt!!
Hey Mr thunderbolt did you know the Mary Maryland collision what's an absolute title of accidents😮
YEEEEEEEE-HOOOOOO!!!!! SEPTA FINALLY CAME TO THEIR SENSES!!!
What do you mean?
@@Thunderbolt_1000_Siren he probably means that septa finally made some heritage units of there own like Amtrak and CSX
@@Thunderbolt_1000_Siren They should have done this with the Silverliner IVs a looooong time ago.
@@GalacticProductions_ They had one a long time ago XD the old 269 before she was cut up. Not to mention just before 280 you had Trolley 9000.
@@Ih8kone Its not like heritage units are required by every road. I think its just to celebrate 51 years of the car's history and 41 years of regional rail operations. Besides there was more than just grime that needed to be removed to make this engine look brand new figurativly and literally...
Can you do another video with British railways accident back in the 19th centuries?
sounds like a wheel repair is due soon.
Or never as they stay like that until it becomes too flat for track speed.
Gotta love the new standards
the only byrn mayr i know is the byrn mayr breakfast club
They have to wrap an ACS-64 in GG-1 colors
Long as it isn't as sloppy as NJT 4636 I'd like it (even if it'll look a bit cursed) but considering how SEPTA's past "Heritage units" such as II 269 and the Trolley 9000 I'm gonna guess they'll keep it historical and only do them on the IVs as only 3 more are planned so I'm told meaning there's probably gonna be a PC IV, a CR one (only a single digit number of Silverliners II-IV had the can opener logo up front), and a 90s era one (The box logo) but hey that's just my guess.
Probably an njdot arrow III
Is that a silverliner IV or a ripoff of a Budd RDC? 😂🤣🤣
Anyway nice video thunderbolt
It's a IV alright. 280 (back when it was RDG 9018) had this exact livery upon delivery along her sisters (the PC ones had the PC "mating worms" logo instead) That's a better HU than semihistorical liveries on equippment that never saw the road :P
Train has a bad flat wheel!
So many are like that on the system XD
