I think Trembley is definitely Canadian. A Canuck is a Canuck. Remember Canada fought as part of the British army. So seeing a British arm patch makes sense. We didn't adopt the maple leaf until 1965. 🙂
Tremblay is indeed Canadian. First line in his "bio" says "Sergeant, Canadian Army" And that he grew up in rural Ontario. (bio can be seen in the map menu, by going into "BASECAMP" and hover the mouse over him) Also also, do make this into a full on playthru. I miss the good ol' X-Com days, and this one is worth the time.
"Felt very quick for me" That feeling indicting how much fun you had, and made you lose track of time. It is a very nice feeling to have when you're gaming or watching.
Wow. I really like the moral mechanic. It makes it feel like every shot has an effect. Even if it doesn't hit the target, you are still doing mental damage. That massive AOE from the heavy that does little damage but massive negative moral is a really cool ability. Hopefully one of your soldiers will unlock that too. Looking forward to seeing a full playthrough.
Its been nice getting back into your channel again. NO ONE makes content like yours, I love it, keep it up. I watched your entire Pacific Drive series and had a blast, looking forward to this and more. P.S. my son was born on ep 18 of Pacific Drive
I, personally, like the animation where the scetch-book is covered. I think that, with u as narrator, the story will be there and we can see the story unwind. Thank you Chriss.. And kisses to wife and Walter the Defender :D
Definitely looks promising as you can tell this one was a labour of love for the developers. They tried to keep as historically accurate as possible with the allied "Jedburgh" teams dropped in to aid the French Resistance for D Day. It's a great setting for a top down RTS game and we'll have to wait and see how the gameplay pans out. I don't expect XCOM levels of depth but this could be a cut above most of the XCOM clones we've seen in recent years (Aliens Dark Descent remains the pick of them).
Thank you Mr. Odd. I look forwards to you getting back to the Xcom-alike stuff you rock at. I like playing Xcom-alikes too, though I prefer the science fiction, or far-out fantasy genres than the just plain fiction ones, so I enjoy seeing someone trying to play similar games at suicidal levels for us mere mortals :).
Would love to see more! I haven't made my mind up about it yet. Mechanically it has everything I would want in tactics turn based but graphically on the animation/FX/modeling front it has a bit to be desired but still want to see it succeed and will most likely get it. It bums me out when gems like Midnight Suns and Phantom Doctrine don't see the light that they very much deserve. Either way, keep em coming Odd!
Holy Moley! Xcom is my favorite turn based game! Outstanding! I am so looking forward to getting this! And yes, I still play Xcom 2 War of the Chosen! The original Xcom was just fantastic!
I just found you and was about to join the call for a full playthrough, only to spot you're already on part 4. Looks like I have some fun watching ahead :)
Odd: let me know if you all want more ehh? Everyone that watches his channel: Mooooooooorrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeee!!!!!!! Thanks Odd as always for the entertainment :D
Would looooove to see a full series on this. I really think they made some interesting choices on how this game plays and it really seemed like you had a good time playing it.
The Flank is the sides of your enemy unit, typically we set up a line of engagement and begin the fight on our terms, send a second group to a flank (whichever offers better cover/conceal), signal the main force to shift fire to the far side of the target at a higher rate (shoot to keep enemy suppressed), second group flanks the objective and the engagement line stops firing. Actual Military Tactics.
This looks promising, I'd love to see how the difficulty level holds up to the units development, hopefully the balance is maintained throught. It did look properly intense for the "hard" in the first mission. Also, the historically accurate WWII setting is fun, so yeah, we do need this to become a series.
FYI, Chris, Jedburgh is a Scottish town and like many Scottish towns with names ending in "burgh" they are actually pronounced as "borough". For example the Scottish capital city Edinburgh is pronounced as "Edinborough". Same with Jedburgh.
I'm at 10 mins in and I'm already in love with this game. It's got every feature I wish XCOM had and some I didn't know know I needed in my life. The shooting to reduce morale and suppress an enemy is so realistic. Getting shot at is not a fun experience.
1:16:30 the right panel of the targeting details says when you have a frendly unit in the aoe. The "friendly fire" warning isnot there in the aoes without friendly units.
I was excited, I am not sure how I feel about the "downed" part of the game. So the soldiers are basically immune to death? There is no penalty for that unit like a permanent damage? Maybe that works out fine - this isn't like a shit post, just not entirely sure how I feel about that. :P
They clearly said that German Privates are dangerous on long range and i love that they actually show that in the actual gameplay. its somewhat lore accurate too. the K98k was a pretty accurate rifle in the mid range. I also love how clean the german is and the voice lines are apropriate to the situation.
Some things could be adapted from Jagged Alliance 3. Hunkering down is an action, mercs with medi-kits can heal others and themselves, you can select the body part to shoot at but you cannot tell the accuracy, machine guns and mortars need to be setup with an area of effect and when out of combat mercs can move as a group. You must be sure to avoid friendly fire as well as killing non-combatants in the area. Soldiers and mercs can panic or go beserk and attack anyone. Dead bodies stay on the map and can be looted afterwards: weapons, ammo, grenades, body armour and other items they drop. Each merc has an amount of items they can carry as well as a squad storage for shared items like ammo. Different mercs can have a variety of skills - training, medic, explosives, crafting, modifying equipment etc,. Very different games but very similar types of action. I really look forward to this one and will keep an eye on Steam reviews.
Relating to these basic mechanics from when playing hell let loose, "Someone is shooting at you, you get supressed", you often have no idea where your being shot from and your AP's tend to have you crawling around in the dirt, with a zero percent chance in figuring out where to even shoot!
31:07. Just a friendly pointer, Odd, since you seem interested in French. The proper pronunciation for “Henri” is “On-ree”. It isn’t pronounced like the English “Henry”, although it’s the French equivalent. I’m largely an Anglophone myself but, ironically, learned this while living in Montreal, Quebec.
I saw there was a mission creator in the main menu, I would love it if you could take a quick look at that. Is it a map maker, are there trigger options, or game modes?
I am making an x-com like game and moving to a different character while one is already moving is tricky because of anything the first character's movement can trigger. If the game mechanics are to be purely turn based, you cannot introduce something that happens in parallel or that is dependent on timing without checking that it doesn't alter the sequence of events. You can check in advance but it's twice the effort to code that.
Found you channel around the Alien Dark Descent. Finally subscribed and so happy I did. If it wasn't for your channel I would not have found this game so thank you. Also agree full series please
If your guys become downed after the health bar is depleted, how would the enemy ever kill your guys? If it's not a percentage chance that they are killed outright, it seems a lot more forgiving than XCOM.
It has promise but I really dislike the bodies just disappearing after being killed in stealth. Although it had many issues, the way Phantom Doctrine dealt with stealth kills might have been a cool approach instead.
Bit of a side note, but I have to say the music in the background sounds very nice. Very thematically appropriate, and seems to scale its tension well with the action.
As a German I'm naturally all in when we're up against THOSE damned guys. (Interesting though - the German voices are having a very strong foreign accent. ^^)
The one thing that these are missing that I loved from FFT was the ability to spin and change the angle of the camera based on a 45 degree angle so I could quickly see every angle of the field. I wish someone would implement that again.
something interesting I noticed since this game has a morale system. That enemy units, and I assume your guys don't lose morale if a comrade dies or that there isn't a major debuff for morale or morale buff, the lost would be for the remaining guy, and buff for the other side if there is only one remaining in a firefight.
Thank you for making a video about our game. It means a great deal to us at Absolutely Games. It is great to see you and others enjoying Classified!
Great stuff, keep it real!
Wait, it literally says "Thanks to Team 17 for sponsoring this video" in the description.
This looks great by the way. I think I'm gonna have to get this.
Great Game bro . I will get this soon. Nice work!
Game looks cools as hell Well done!
I think Trembley is definitely Canadian. A Canuck is a Canuck. Remember Canada fought as part of the British army. So seeing a British arm patch makes sense. We didn't adopt the maple leaf until 1965. 🙂
Tremblay is Canadian from Quebec for sure.
Tremblay is a very popular name in Québec
yeah, at the time of WW2 Canada was still very much a part of Great Britain and the common wealth. So the union jack absolutely makes sense
1% of Quebecer have the surname Tremblay. It's the most common by far.
And they joined the RAF
Full playthrough when? 🧐🧐🧐
🙏
Never 😂

"I'm a big fan of a good murder bush"
Chris has such a way with words!
Full playthrough plz 😊
This is very interesting. Would love a series. I am also interested in seeing what mods the community will come up with
Series Less Gooooooooooooooo
Star Wars for sure, turning the enemies into CIS
Full playthrough Let's go
cool emotes XD
Leeeeeesssss Gooooooooooooooooooooo
@JoeyWillsher Yeah, precisely that. 🔥🔥🔥

It was only a matter of time until someone remade Silent Storm.
"Your goose is cooked!"
I've got the same first impression, that this has such a Silent Storm vibe. Amazing.
"Viv thiz vunds I vill never find a husband!"
It just needs some mech suits and the resemblance to both Silent Storm and XCom will be complete.
@@fiyamageJagged Alliance 2! I think Grizzly says it? Edit: actually it’s a quote from one of the Kingpin’s henchmen in San Mona.

Been needing an XCOM 2 replacement, this might be it. Full series please.
You should download the free demo and give this game a try. You can also play Jagged Alliance 3. It's really good.
Looks promising. Looking forward to another XCOM game. 👍🎉
You and me both!
Let us goooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo Whoo new xcom ish series

Already feeling the vibe seriously found this channel back in early xcom2 days
This game looks good, and I like the way you talk about it. A full playthrough is in order!
1:05:20 oof. That miss. 82% and miss. X-com shenanigans lives.
1:05:30 “Are you serious? XCOM strikes again.” I honestly had pretty much the same thought after the missed shot and just before you said that. 😂😂😂

Your Enemy Unknown series is what introduced me to your channel, so I would absolutely LOVE to see a full playthrough.
Playthrough sounds great. Also intrigued by the game you're working on. Looking forward to hearing about it
The sketch style cutscenes are just like Original War - another fantastic game you should definitely lets play.
The nostalgia. One of the most unique RTS games in both gameplay and story.
Hands down favorite TH-camr and your strategy play through are the best! Hoping for more and keep it up

After the first 20 minutes of your video, I jumped on Steam and bought the game. Great video, game looks amazing!
Great content Odd as usual! Thank you for your hard work!
Definitely worth checking out. You do an incredible job with these type of videos by the way, odd!
The level of intensity in this game is really exciting!!! A full series would be really interesting, for sure. Thanks for sharing it with us, Odd! 😁

Great looking game and concept. I hope the company could also create a Konflixt 47 style game in which the earth diverts into occult and weird science
For German words W’s are pronounced like V’s so think Vermark. I would love this to be a series. I miss the Xcom 2 runs you used to do.
That was great fun to watch. Would look forward to a longer play-through.
Loving this. Would be very happy to watch a full campaign series!
Wow, this is cool, enjoying this play through from the beginning

Keep it going Odd!!! Always a fan of your Xcom style play!
So movement points disappear after you attack is like in Rogue Trader.
Definitely worth a series here.

Been playing this since last Saturday (my copy came early), and I've been loving it! If you like XCOM it's a must play
Looks good! Id watch a series of it.
Bit of a side note, but I have to say the music in the background sounds very nice. Very thematically appropriate, and seems to scale its tension well with the action.
There should be a so called "Half a flank"-situation.. Where some of the obstacle is removed. "Half a flank" :D
Definitely a full playthrough!!
Full Playthrough Please!
I would love a series. It looks really great.
I'll say yes to a full playthrough of this.
My mother's maiden name is Trombley. That part of the family came from France and were in Montreal for many generations before coming to the US.

Love this game. Thanks for video. I cant wait to play it myself :) Silent Storm vibes are heavy with this one. Which is good as well.
Yes please, a full play through 🎉
Love it! Can’t wait for more
"An AP system, not quite like X-Com"...
Yeah, it's more like X-Com than X-Com. Glad to see a return to form on a good system like that!

Another game this really reminds me of is gears tactics because of the skill tree and unit abilities.
Warhammer 40k chaos gate is similar too.
Would you be playing FF7 Rebirth?
Plz keeps doing this it's a nice change
Man this definitely is good game ... We need more story and more game play of this
You let the Aussie just die out there? Brutal.
I don't know why exactly, but this game really reminds me of Hidden and Dangerous.
Full series absolutely, but I want to hear more about the game you're developing!
I like how there a lot of mechanics from Gears Tactics rather than just the standard XCOM affair.
