We were there! Amazing concert! Our hearts were on fire and thrilled to hear such incredible music and truly grateful to Jazz Night in America to give the public a chance to hear one of the greatest performances ever. Thanks too to Marcus Miller and all the musicians- a totally enthralling experience!
Wynton: Marcus, here's they keys to my Lincoln, play all the electric Miles you want, back in town in a week, please be gone by then. Catch you later Marcus. Love Wynton.
I'm still amazed at the amount of projects Marcus puts together_an elder statesman who's still a young man at 62! I first heard him on Streamline by Lenny White in 78...& consequently bought every record I could find with Marcus on the bass. Superb concert celebrating our main man, Miles Davis 😊 👍
To hear this music ,played live by this band makes me feel warm and alive ,I have always loved Miles Davis from the beginning and listened to the changes over time and this music is in a word " Beautiful" ,boy can these guys play,so good!
Wow! So much talent. I'm so glad I found this! It was all amazing, but the first few minutes of Black Satin when Vernon Reid and Marcus Miller start to warm things up and they finally heat it up, so good!
I'm sort of thrilled to hear Marcus on that passive jazz. Feels like I'm getting a glimpse through some other window into his bass playing prowess. I've heard him play finger style before but on this bass, I feel like I can hear how he played at some point in his life, before he became this MARCUS MILLER!
One of my regrets was missing that specific concert in light of the inclusion of Vernon Reid. Notwithstanding though, I was fortunate enough to check out Marcus Miller at Metrotech in Brooklyn the August of that year. Marcus has been able to achieve the near impossible of combining the intensities of John Coltrane, Larry Graham, Stanley Clarke and Jimi Hendrix in his delivery. Absolutely on a different level and off the charts.
Saw Living Colour at the old Marquee club in 1988 and was blown away with vernon Reid and muzz skillings and the whole band . Gail Anne Dorsey was there that night getting into it ,
Very well done. I wouldn't know how to make it better even after spending my whole life listening to Miles regularly and seeing him perform 3 times during his electric era. Full musician lineup @58:38.
The only thing, that would it make better, would be to show us part 2, which I suppose is the actual beginning. I just love In A Silent Way, by Joe Zawinul.
Marcus Miller - Music Director, Bandleader, Bass Guitar, Bass Clarinet Brett Williams - Keyboards Alex Han - Saxophone Marquis Hill - Trumpet Russell Gunn - Trumpet Vernon Reid - Guitar Alex Bailey - Drums Mino Cinelu - Percussion
Marcus Miller great great Musicianship Bassist and really nice Person I met at Concert outside of Philly at the Keswick theater opened for Stanley Clark and Miles Davis from Bebop to Hip hop Miles Never stopped reinventing himself and Marcus Helped that
Absolutely incredible absolutely incredible is the only thing that I can think about and I met Marcus in Rams Head Inn in Maryland in Annapolis when he performed about a year-and-a-half ago but still I'm saying
The first piece : i think at the challenge of the drummer (who must think at Tony ; Lenny and Jack) a very hard gift ; really and he show a wonderfull groove (very begining seventeen music)

Miles Davis "curse" was a deep psychodelic trip, quiet tipical for the time he lived - the freaky Hippy Flower Power epoche with T. Leary´s philosophy "the doors of perception". His art was to transform all this intellectual feelings into really good Jazz Fusion music! Thanks to the bass icone Marcus Miller to introduce us perfectly and posthum in the (complicated and brilliant) world and music of Miles Davis...
Marcus took Larry Graham to another level. His years thru GRP and then Luther Vandross, Sanborn, and many others in between was before Miles! An amazing trail!
@@reedbass5644 yeah u can add Anthony Jackson to the list too but primarily he always said his primary influences were james, larry , Stanley and Jaco are what helped him develop his signature style
Saw him a few times now with MM. Last time was 2 years ago in Amsterdam, where for some reason Alex Hahn and the trumpet player left the stage and did not return. So Alex, Brett and MM completed the remaining 1,5 hour of the concert. Big role for Alex. Great drummer. Can play bass too.
In 1992 i was studying jazz a the Guildhall school of music and drama in London. We got a message that Wynton Marsalis was coming in to do a master class . First thing he said to my friend on piano was why was he playing So What voicings ? Errrr whatever. Then i asked wynton about my favourite Miles Davis lp called We Want Miles , the live double lp with Marcus Millers going nuts on a tuned down fender jazz . wynton said no he looked puzzled and said no he hadn't heard the album . I was shocked . I asked him if he liked Jaco and he said no errrr and was laughing . What an idiot . I said some other stuff which i will leave out . But saying that we was all well into Live at Blues Alley and all Wynton lps. . Standard time . Remember talking to Wynton outside Ronnie Scotts and we were talking about clothes but i was thinking that while Jaco was a sound innovator you dismissed him as nothing....
Can't believe I'm the only person here commenting but aside from this awesomeness, can you increase your output by 6 DB whoever is monitoring such thing

Nice and smooth Jazz, with respect to Miles. 🙏💯
This was an incredible concert. Marcus Miller’s Tutu was a fitting ending and a perfect example of Miller’s muscianship and genius. Bravo.

It was only the intro with Marcus and Christian McBride chatting in-studio was where the audio was too soft; the concert proper's levels are fine.
At the end of "Black Satin" there is no "A tribute to Jack Johnson" in 70 ?
Keep cooking
