I've had the exact same problem with matte washes drying gloss recently. I bought 3 pots of Nuln oil and they all dried gloss despite not being a gloss wash. I wonder if GW had a mix match batch of washes.
Yeh it seems to be hit or miss these days, I think there was a bad batch. If you still have them you can return them. I took photos of the glossy finish and the serial number on the pot and GW sent me a new one!
@@jmaccsarmiesofArda I agree, but I bought mine from my local game store so I don't think they'd refund me or send me a new one. My FLGS did put a bit of a warning label on the rack though.

Ever consider Oathmark as an alternative to War of the Ring?
