I got a large long hair Furminator on Amaone for under $10 a while back. I love that toothpaste. All 3 of my dogs like it and my cat even likes it. Both my dogs breeder and my vet recommended the Burts Bees shampoo and the ear cleaner you use.
I have a rake like your yellow and grey one but I traded up to a double row rake with a curry comb like other side. It works amazing for my golden. It’s by Chi and it’s red and black at petsmart. I love it. The curry comb side does the top coat and the rake side does the under coat so it works for both shedding season and regular season!
When you’re in your college dorm or if you don’t have a yard where to you brush your dog? I am going to move into an apartment soonish and I’ll probably get my dog while living there so I’m wondering where you brush him? I know my friend brushes her dog on the patio but I’m not sure if we’ll have one.
If you don't have a patio/ outdoor area I recommend the bathtub. I also even though I'm capable of doing all my dogs grooming send him to a groomer every 8 weeks. It's good for him to stay used to a second person handling him incase I was ever injured. I also find it helps him be more comfortable when at the vet.
There is a field and a common area with benches and trash cans right outside of my dorm building, so I brush him there. The benches are very securely bolted into the ground, so I attach his leash to the bench next to the trash can and brush him there!
Great video K. This was really helpful. I am in the Guide dog application process and grooming and other self-care things for the dog or one of the thing I was really wondering about. I know that the retrievers have a double coat and so I figured that would be more difficult to groom then the lab. It was really interesting and useful therefore for me to see how you do it. Did you ever remember what the name of those two brushes were. The one you sent was in place of the FURminator and the other u use year-round.
