I'm watching this after the recent video of this place a few days ago. You were brave and generous in sharing the chateau and beyond, and I enjoyed it. That comment of the chateau being cold reminded me of what I've read about in the difficulty of warming Versailles in its heyday during the winter. Merci for this tour!
We had this charming village to ourselves when visiting in October. Sadly there were no restaurants or shops open but must say the emptiness added to the experience. Also the castle was open, with nobody there and walked the grounds as well. There was nobody to pay! LOL
Some towns and villages in the Loire Valley get very quiet at times. I am surprised Langeais was this quiet in October (I'd expect this more in the winter, after the Holidays, when parts of this region turn into the Sleeping Beauty) :-) You're right though. It can add to the experience. Happy New Year!
Bonjour from Minnesota! Merci beaucoup for the video! I always enjoy your posts, and especially so in winter. It's 4 degrees Fahrenheit here, so France when it's 4 Celsius looks nice! Just a little note: a donjon in a French castle may not be what Americans think of as a "dungeon". It's a central tower (I think!), but not really a prison or a place of torture! Hope I get this right... Merci, again, and I hope you are having a wonderful new year. P.S. It's good to know about Chateau Langeais, in case I get to see Tours. It would make a nice day trip, along with Saumur.
Vero: Loved the tour today. I have visited chateaus in the Loire Valley, but never heard of this one. Lovely place and great history too. Thanks so much for freezing your derierre to share with us today!!!
What a wonderful treat to wake up to your historical tour of the chateau grounds. We learn so much from you. I have been to many of the Loire chateaus but have never heard of this one. Merci. Loved the market tour as well.
Merci for the virtual tour, I enjoyed it so much I have booked one night in Langeais during my cycle tour through the Loire Valley
Langeais is worth the trip! What an interesting tour! Merci mille fois, Vero!!
Wonderful walk! I've now posted it on my blog page about Langeais.
Merci Debbie.
I'm so glad I got to catch up on your last 3 strolls. This was lovely and interesting as always 😊
Merci Babs.
Catching up with some of your strolls. Totally enjoyed the history, plus the château and the town. Merci ! Merci !
