SUP on Lake Windermere Englands BIGGEST Lake! Stand Up Paddle Board in the Lake District

- Whilst in the Lake District we had to head out on the SUP on the largest lake in England, Lake Windermere 🏄🏼♂️ The lake is 10.5 miles long, one mile wide and 220 feet deep 😱
We paddled out to Lady Holme Island for the day and a bite to eat 🥪 I could spend all week exploring different parts of this lake!
We stayed in a hotel not far from Bowness - on - Windermere and the following day we hired out a boat for a little private cruise and went for a sunset swim off on of the jettys 🚤🌅

I think you're right that being blue-green algae.
I read some reports of a bloom in Windermere just last month due to the warm weather, detected from samples at multiple locations.
Yes looks like it! I didn’t see anything about it whilst I was there but heard about it when I got back home! 😅

Hey we park at Rayrigg Meadow Car Park, pumped the boards up there then carried them down to the jetty! 🏄🏼♂️ Insane spot! 🔥

Looks awesome, looking forward to spending a few days at Windermere in August. Where did you SUP launch from? Will it be suitable for myself and my 10 year old lad to SUP.
Thanks yes lovey spot for a paddle! 👌🏼 Sounds like fun! We launched from Rayrigg Meadow Car Park, pumped our SUPs up and walked them down and launched at the jetty. Nice and easy 🏄🏼♂️ Yes would be great place to paddle, I sure August will have quite a lot of boat traffic so will have to keep your wits about but plenty of space for everyone to enjoy! 🙌🏼
You couldn't have been on Lake Windermere, as there is no such place..... wild camping in the Lake District is illegal. The LDNPA issues fines to anyone they find wild camping....
