In his son's books What Ever Happened To Randolph Scott, Chris wrote.
His dad was asked to be the Grand Marshall in a rodeo and he only excepted if Chris could ride with him.
They agreed in this, he thought his dad would riding Stardust but when his dad placed him on top of Stardust he was over joyed.
His dad rode a horse about the same color. He said this was a day to always remember.
He speaks of his dad with so much love, their family was a close family.
He also writes they always took their meals together when his dad was not on location.
Such a wonderful read loved it very much.
Oh yes how he the name of the book What Ever Happened To Randolph Scott came about.
Chris was on his way home from a friend's house and he had been trying to come up with a title..
When he turned the radio dial there was the Statler Brothers singing Whatever Happened to Randolph Scott. He said he was over thrilled.
When he got home he said he ran inside to tell his dad he came up with a title.
Before he could get the words out of his mouth his dad pulled out a record and it was the Statlers record What Ever Happened To Randolph Scott.
He was so surprised but he said his dad was always doing things like that.
I love Randolph Scott he was one of the greatest and a true Southern never forgot his home town and the people. When he retired he spent a lot of time back North Carolina.

My late Father had Randolph Scott autograph a dollar bill when Scott was on a USO tour during WWII, & my dear Mom pasted it in the scrapbook she maintained of my Dad, while he served in the Pacific as a mortar gun crew chief.

Randolph Scott had a unique way of making his characters look "cool" without effort. The silent, lonely type without pretension or bravado. Just a steely-eyed, straight face that made the other characters seem as lesser men. He was a wonderful actor and darn good horseman. Thanks for putting this together!

He was very good and the camera captured his face from many angles that made him look like a different person in every movie. He was made for the movies more so than others.

I can never get enough of his movies. He was a skilled rider and a great cowboy who never truly got the credit as many other Hollywood cowboy stars. His greatest tribute is from the movie "Blazing Saddles" when there is a moment of silence when Cleavon Little invokes his name to get the towns people to go along with a plan...............

yeah he was the perfect western hero .the only thing that let some of his movies down were fight scenes where the double looked nothing like him.

Yeah, a lot of western movies suffer from that affliction, LOL!

Here we are taking about and admiring the great Randolph Scott 30years after his death and 55 years after his last movie Ride the High Country. He is loved and respect by many around the world including my generation whom where too young to see him on the big screen. I buy only his movies and watch them over and over again. He did not need credit or awards, he knew he was good, very, very good and he was one of the wealthiest actors in the movie industry.

He was beautiful. !! Absolutely beautiful, inside and out. I love him. Millions loved him. I will be 80 next year. A great grandmother. Joe Biden and I were born two weeks apart, in 1942. Joe is also beautiful, inside and out. I love them both. Many of that generation were beautiful. Quiet, dignified, strong, good, kind, wise, compassionate. May the ' good ones' return. May we build back a good generation. A good world. May it be so.

As an FYI: The beautiful horse you see here with Randolph Scott was named Stardust. While Scott did not own the horse, he did ride it whenever possible in western movies. It was his favorite.

Best western horseman, by a long way, was Ben Johnson. He starred alongside John Wayne in the John Ford cavalry trilogy as "Tyree" Great actor and brilliant horseman. The only person who could hold a candle to him was Yakima Kanut the brilliant stunt rider, he was the 'indian' who, in the film Stagecoach, was shot from the coach team and went under the coach. +David Cowton Sure, no doubt Ben Johnson was one of the top riders. Also don't forget Harry Carey Jr.. My comment was about this great workhorse Stardust and Randolph Scott's love for it. He even made his last movie"Ride the High Country" with Stardust as well.
