I think a majority of scammers, or at least I'd hope that, don't actually ENJOY scamming people. Only that the money is SO LUCRATIVE and the risk is so relatively loe, that they kinda CAN'T take it. They got bills to pay and whatnot. It sucks, and they should be punished, but I totally understand it tbh.

From what I've seen and heard from people that run these scams, they feel that the marks deserve it somehow for not understanding its a scam. That, or in the case the scam being run is the kind where the mark thinks theyre commiting a minor crime themselves, see themselves as punishment for people who only PRETEND to be moral but will commit a crime if they think they can get away with it.

You get a big dopamine rush from sales, it can totally be addicting.
My first ever job was selling Kirby Vacuum Cleaners door to door and that was a total scam, but it felt really good getting sales...
...at least up until the time a devastated housewife told me I was taking the Christmas presents out from under the tree...
...I sold her a $3,000 vacuum and her house had *all hardwood floors,* the bit where we'd vacuum dead skin crud from your bed and show it to you was super effective.

Something that annoys me a bit is, I wouldn't mind buying a fake rolex or something like it if it was still decent quality, I would just want to know it was fake and pay accordingly. I bought a copy of a good soviet watch a while ago for like $30 and it is pretty cool. It's not like a good watch, but I don't need a watch that works well, no one does these days.

I think the title of this video could really use being edited to "I talked to a former scammer" because some of these comments are already getting really nasty and making some bad assumptions, I feel like they haven't watched the video at all. Dude has come far and it's what matters most to me (I obviously do not approve of scamming people but it's not my place to "forgive him or not" when it's the past, and he has already punished himself hard, he'll probably deal with more consequences as time goes on I don't wanna add to that. Some of y'all think so lowly of human lives and "criminals"...)
To the interviewed : I hope you thrive off a better life to others and yourself dude, good luck when it comes to drinking too, that shit fucking sucks.

I always kinda thought of scammers that way. Yeah, some of them are shitheads, but a lot of them don't necessarily want to. It pays the bills, and when you're in a tight spot like that, beggars can't always be choosers. I'd be lying if I said scamming people for expensive rolex watches sounded more appealing than flipping burgers at mcdonalds. You SHOULDN'T scam people, but money really talks sometimes.

@@angusmatheson8906 putting yourself in the shoes of a movie character doesnt make you a sociopath. I really doubt he has ASPD the guy just sounds like your typical american wantroponeur. Individualistic for sure but he shows regret and guilt which is something hard to fake if he couldnt experience empathy
