The placement of my sound bar is not ideal I agree with you. However, I really needed a strong audio presence with front firing, drivers and bass for a very specific living room space. Since I already own plenty of Sonos products and love the ecosystem I decided to go with the best Sonos sound bar they had to offer. Sure this does come with a trade-off of not really getting the full potential of up firing or side firing drivers. But, it works for the space and my wife’s not gonna kill me for having tower speakers or bulky subwoofers in our walking area. Sidenote, I did test the sound bar extensively in my bedroom and theater room, placing it on top of the furniture rather than in it. And was able to enjoy the height speakers and a much wider sound stage. Maybe one day I’ll replace my living room media cabinet so I can gain these benefits back. Thanks for watching the video!
@@TheCdM1981… agreed. But I use the Arc Ultra in nearly a same placement situation and it’s absolutely great with the Sub4 and two Era 300 - mybe not perfect for Atmos, but amazing without question. 😏
You could pull the cabinet out a few inches and put the ultra on the top for a better experience? You can see from the video that the cabinet is currently recessed, so it will only stick out a small bit to fit the ultra in a better position where you get the benefit of the upfiring speakers. Seems a very small trade off to me.
Just a suggestion that helped me with my av cabinets, put furniture slider pucks on the bottom of your cabinets. I have hardwood floor/felt pucks in my living room and carpet/plastic pucks in my loft theatre room. Makes moving the cabinets effortless and doesn't mar the wood floors or drag the carpet.
Great video/review/unboxing! If I were you, I would not place it in this cupboard as the sound is not free as it should be due to the space constraints... Best regards!
How can anyone take this review seriously when you have the upfiring and side firing speakers boxed in, with in that shelf. Sound bars are not center speakers they aren’t front firing only. They must be completely unblocked on all sides. This review is kind of pointless as you can’t actually speak on “audio profiles” when you aren’t allowing audio to actually be properly unobstructed.
I just bought a Valerion visionmaster pro 2 which will project on my 150" projector screen. Would you recommend Arc Ultra + Sub 4 + 2x Era 300 for this set up? If not, what else would you recommend?
Great review. I believe another viewer said this, but you cannot put an Atmos bar within a cabinet and expected it to sound the way it was designed. You are blocking upward and side firing speakers.
Hey I appreciate it! I 100% agree with that. I am missing out on the up-firing drivers and the side firing speakers too! However, for my setup personally I was ok with that trade off. I maybe should have clarified better, but I ran testing for this soundbar in 3 different rooms which you can see b-roll for throughout the video. This includes my bedroom, placed on top of my dresser and my theater room as well. Again, on top of a media cabinet. So my opinions of the spacial audio and atmos drivers come from that testing. Thanks for watching the video! Hope you have a great one!
Ohhh that is a tough one. Probably the arc ultra in my opinion. Just because the sound motion woofer will pick up the slack of the sub. And the other 11 drivers do such a good job filling the room that you won’t miss too much from the rears.
Yeah, it’s definitely impressive! I was fully anticipating the arc ultra to be very similar to the arc. However with the 360 spacial audio and motion woofer, it really was a nice upgrade for me.
From a sound perspective, absolutely! However, the frame TV is very low profile and this sound bar is roughly 4 inches deep. So there will be a bit of a difference in the aesthetic depth. If that doesn’t bother you, then I would absolutely go for it because that would be a killer combo.
I think the reason the company doesn't add other speakers to it in a package like other companies do they don't want to cut corners on quality Sub that come with a bar may not be the best sub . I'm planning on getting it soon and have the Sonos sub gen 1 on its own it will be compatible but if I go dual ineed gen 3 or 4
I dumped my Nakamichi 7.2.4 and went with Sonos because of being able to mix/match soundbars, sub(s), and rear surrounds depending on room size, budget, and audio needs. I just updated my v1 Arc (dual Gen 3 subs+Fives) to the Arc Ultra. Moved the v1 Arc into master bedroom to replace Beam Gen 1 (Gen 3 sub+Symfonisk rears). Moved the Beam Gen 1 into spare room with a TV with no soundbar. I couldn't reuse individual components of my Nakamichi like I can with Sonos.
What you should have done is put the soundbar on top of the tv stand and move it away from the wall a few inches. Tell the wife it's just for the video then leave it like that :) plus you would avoid everyone in the comments telling you that you shouldn't put it in that little nook blocking 4 speakers.
I tested the sound bar out in three different spaces. Including my bedroom and theater room. The sound bar sounds much better when it has room to breathe and is on top of a cabinet or wall mounted. Even though it’s not perfectly ideal, it works great for my current living room furniture. I don’t really have space for floor standing tower speakers or a bulky subwoofer so this delivers a really strong audio presence with front firing drivers even though unfortunately the up firing and side firing drivers are blocked due to my furniture.
Speech enhancement ruins all of the "oomph" and booms... turn it off. the speech is good enough without it and sometimes BETTER, and it doesn't mess with the equalizer sound curve.
You are right, there’s definitely gonna be a trade-off if you enhance dialogue. For my ears I prefer it, but I definitely think a lot of people will have to test it out for themselves and see what sounds best for them. Great suggestion!
Yeah, that’s correct. It’s a super specific situation that I find myself in my living room. I have a bunch of Sonos speakers already and love the ecosystem so even though I knew I wouldn’t be able to fully capitalize on the firing inside firing speakers I still wanted the highest power Sonos sound bar with the best front facing drivers. It definitely helps that I have an extra Sonos amp and in ceiling speakers to pump in some additional surround. But the sound bar sounded way better when I had it in my bedroom with no obstructions around it.
Lost me too, are you even serious on reviewing something that is meant to do its job? It’s like just taking a race horse for trotting because you lock the horse up.
I love how you place the soundbar in a cabinet restricting sound reflection from the upward and sideways speakers 🤣sorry man you lost me after 23 sec

I made it for 55 seconds
@@boxiiiyour placement is improper and should not be reviewed with that type of placement.

Yah, I agree man. Can't get a full review with that placement
Dude my wife already gave me a limit of what I can buy every month and then this video comes out. Im just gonna say you made me buy it 😂.
Hahah that’s awesome 😂
I think the ultra and sub mini would be best for most small to medium setups

you know what, I didn't really consider that option. I think I will try it out! Thanks for the tip!
@boxiii try it you'll like it

I agree 100%! I actually have felt on the bottom of the cabinet feet. It may be time to replace the felt though.
This would look great under my Christmas tree 😬
I have a feeling a lot of people are going to think the same since the Holidays are coming up soon!
Ayooo up and ready for the video 🎉
Let’s go!! Appreciate you bro!
Thanks for this advice...ill keep my old ARC & sub.
Yeah, you aren’t missing too much if you already have that combo!

arc ultra 2 era 300s and gen 3/4 sub is just top tier set up its what i have
100% it’s actually crazy impressive especially coming from a sound bar.
Awesome! How amp coneected to ceiling speakers and Arc ultra? Thanks
If you go check out the setup chapter in the video I show that! Glad the video helped you out
Sonos is just goated.
I've been a Sonos fan for years! They continue to impress!
Great video! Christmas came early if you know what I mean... 😉
Brooooo tell that to my wife 🤣😭
@@boxiii 😂
11:50 for atmos doesn’t that tv stand interfere with the sound quality ? It’s blocking the top of the soundbar….

Yo Bro !!! Pull that cabinet out 3 or 4 inches and put that ULTRA ON TOP and you'll be in Shaeffer City 🎉😅❤
If I have to choose a first Sonos system, what is better for me: beam 2+sub mini+era 100 or just arc ultra?

Atmos 360 effects is my interest with the Ultra

The TV mounted so high, tired for the neck. Will the sound be constraint inside the cabinet?
I don’t have any external speakers, I’ve just got the Samsung 65” frame for tv
Would you recommend this Sonos?

You’re not supposed to put the Sonos with something on top of it. You won’t be able to use the fire and speakers.

Dang people on here getting mad like they’re gonna watch tv at your house and they won’t be able to hear the surround sound.
😂😂😂
As soon as I saw the Sonos Arc-Ultra INSIDE a cabinet you lost me. What a waste
