It's happened 4 other times in presidential elections that we've forgotten just as well. The president who ostensibly wins the count, even if it's well within a margin of error, wins most states without a possibility of a recount. People mismark their selections, change their signatures, cast in the wrong precincts. The margin of error for counting votes is well above the margin of victory required for a recount in most states.

It was shown that bush would have won even if the recount would have been allowed to finish. This was done by nonpartisan independent news agencies in flordia who reached that conclusion by actually recounting the votes. Chance are that bush would have won by an even larger margin if it weren't for the major news networks who originally called flordia for gore before all the polls in flordia were even closed. When they called it for gore the polls still had an hour to go in the heavily republican panhandle portion of the state. I guarantee you when the major networks called flordia for gore people who were in line to vote in the panhandle got out of line and went home thinking that it was pointless since gore had already won the state.

It was very confusing why America didn't reward Bill Clinton's VP with the White House considering how well the country was doing in 2000. Usually that's what happens. But if Gore had taken Office, he would have been blamed non-stop for the 9/11 attacks. Republicans blamed Bill Clinton for 9/11 so obviously they would have said it's because a weak, liberal soy boy pansy Democratic President was in the White House is why the terrorists decided to attack. This would have led to Gore being a one term President while Republicans made their case for a manly macho guy to take over.

I was waiting for 9:11 I've sensed something really bad was about to happen I actually thought that they were going to have an anthrax terror attack and kill all of us at burning Man I was out at that party and having a really weird bad scary big feeling about something really big and deadly looming and a week later 911 right when I got back home I didn't know anything about the twin towers or anything about what had happened because I had been on the highway all day with out the radio on just listening to my own music we hadn't talked to anybody so I was in the car for like 8 hours and I found out about it in the evening and somebody said terrorists blew up the trade towers.... And I said it wasn't terrorist it was Bush and Cheney and the guy just looked shocked and didn't have anything to say.. the guy was someone that I had never seen before a old man a Canadian guy at the gas station.... Back then journalist and just everybody had so much more integrity and that we never would have had all this lying and conspiracy garbage and maga election denying this whole Republican assault against the concept of Truth and facts is all Trump and it's killing America it's so stupid it's making really stupid dangerous stupid stupid stupid people who have always totally despised and they've always been full of s*** Christian Conservative Republican idiots but now that they don't have to tell the truth Trump like unlocked lying and now how do we get it back in the box this is so unexpectedly ridiculously annoying and it seems funny but it's not f*** lying we need to outlaw lying and deport these magical Republicans to North Korea until they can apologize sincerely on a polygraph machine or just stay there that's a fitting place for them if they want to b**** about their government and talk s*** and let him have something to talk s*** about

Republicans already blamed Bill Clinton for the 9/11 attacks, saying it was a weak, liberal soy boy Democrat President that couldn't get Osama Bin Laden is why manly macho President GWBush had to put with getting attacked. So if they pushed that stupid story, imagine if the attacks happened under President Gore? It would have been non-stop 24-7 blaming Gore, calling him a weak, soy boy liberal pro-gay tree hugger, etc, etc. George W. Bush would have likely won in 2004 in that version.

Al Gore and his team made several ENORMOUS mistakes. First one was him conceding so quickly. Second was them agreeing to the butterfly ballot and signing off on it. Third was only initially recounting the votes in 4 democratic counties. If they would have just made smarter decisions all around, Gore just might have won if a full recount was done and it would have shown Gore the winner. In the end Bush beat Gore by an official 537 votes. In the end either way, if all the votes were recounted, it’s my opinion, that neither party would have won by more than 100-200 votes, be it Bush or Gore. Leaving it up to a popular vote would have only highly populated areas being catered and campaigned to, as opposed to having a candidate that has to campaign and reach voters all the way across the entire country. So if the world had an alternate timeline where Gore was the US President, we probably coulda had Obama a bit later than 2008, and Trump much, much later than 2016.

We would’ve never had either. Gore would’ve been president during the recession so we probably would’ve got president John McCain

It'd be Gore 2000-08, McCain 2008-16 and Obama 2016-24. Then Biden/Trump 2024-. Just my thoughts.

@@LucaMatoke I think Trump may have never happened, only because his decision to run seemed to come directly from being embarrassed by Obama. But it’s hard to say if any of these people would have followed Gore since even Obama was a direct reaction to Bush fumbling America. Maybe McCain would have done a better job and we could have still had republican presidents following that. It’s definitely a butterfly effect type of situation.

@LucaMatoke I dont think Trump would have been president in this alternate timeline. Each president switch is due to the voters wanting something different, it seems. Bill Clinton was president was there for 8 years. Then Bush for 8. Bush was a disaster so Obama gets 8 years. Change is a big thing they seem to say they're fighting for. And trump got in for 4 years as a change from the Obama era. Americans were tired of Trump's antics and his response to covid so Biden gets in for 4 years. If Al Gore had won in 2000. The parties would switch. McCain would probably had won after Gore. Then Obama gets elected afterwards. It's so mind blowing to think about it.

I was in 2nd grade during this election. I can't believe in retrospect that the adults of the time allowed this election to be close just because Gore seemed Dull.
