Tonight we covered a lot of ground. We started by discussing our current thoughts on Venom’s code and its “complexity”. We then rolled into the Kineticist’s request of each of our Top 5 favorite pinball machines. Then we talked about Super Series coming up as well as the Stern Pro Circuit finals that happen next week. We rounded out the show with what we are looking forward to playing and seeing at Chicago Pinball Expo. Hope you all enjoy!

Great video as always guys. I totally agree on Venom. I really don't understand why people are so confused. A big part of the fun of a new pinball is just shooting it and learning the rules. I don't need to have everything just spelled out for me. I also have to agree with the guys point against you Joel. You worry too much about if others play or like your games vs just what you think. Your opinion is good too! Great top 5 lists as well for all 3 of you. It was fun to see some different games on there!

Venom is dope. I’ve played both versions and agree that the premium is where it’s at. The Gwen shot you mentioned with the up-post stopping momentum around the horseshoe is highly annoying, especially when it kills the flow immediately. Either way though, I enjoy the game for what it is. Not the most amazing game ever, but fun nonetheless.

This is why we created the Quick Rules (3M's and Extra Ball) on TWIP.
I hate reading. Stern's best bet is to just additionally wrap all the rules into a tutorial video on the machine. The rule cards are 100% useless. "Collect the Foo Bot". Would be useful for people at arcades as well who dont have access to PDF's. Nobody reads rulecards or PDFs coming into the hobby casually. Again I made the tutorial system for the Maneater game you talked about. We don't have a SEGA genesis booklet, we provide you with VISUALs. Stern has an LCD screen. They need to use it. Foo's Bot Frenzy is just a blue arrow lit. There is nothing else to designate that shot is bot frenzy. I've played venom casually like 5 times. I don't know what the police station ramp is (without reading rules). Just like Foo Fighters: "Shoot bot targets to get bot awards". wtf is a bot target (aka read the 30 page pdf). The rule cards dont even include pics of what the bot targets look like. I think Joel is right and Travis probably never designed a product before. We also have like 9 games that came out this year and now Labyrinth and Ninja Eclipse. Nobody can or wants to read 9x30 pages to finally "enjoy" pinball. Enjoy it out of the box.
And even on Foo they will say, Left crossover or left loop. They should embed some kind of name for each part in the playfield graphics so people know what they mean. You know how long it takes for a new player to learn what outlane means?
