    Genius! Can't believe how much time I have wasted scratching away at glue! This worked instantly -- I didn't even have to wait 10-15 minutes, I just put it on the jar, gentle rubbed it in and now my jar is perfectly clean! Thanks so much :D

    I don’t comment too often, but I wanted to say this works! Letting it rest for at least the 10 min makes it work better. Also, using something abrasive is a must and not a washcloth. Thanks for the information!

    NO FREAKING WAY!!!!
    I have been struggling in removing the sticker residue in my lovely glass jar, and has been soaked in the water with soap for 3 days (and I am literally thinking that in my sleep) was just removed in less than half an hour without a single drop of sweat!!!
    I'm serious you should start charging people for this pure genius idea!!!

    After seeing it suggested in several videos, I tried cooking oil on the stickiest wine bottle label in history. Oil was Little to no help at all on this stubborn mess of a bottle. Then I tried your recipe with the sodium bicarb + the 10, 15, 20 minutes of patience and POOF! JUST LIKE MAGIC!! It just pretty much wiped right off. You rescued me on this in a major way. This color glass was uniquely suited to make just a present for my wife who was seriously bummed out after having ankle surgery early this morning. Thank you soooooo much!!

    Your readers have already mentioned rubbing alcohol and Goo Gone, both work very well too. Also before the actual label is removed, fill the jar with boiling water, put lid on to prevent burns, leave it for about 30 seconds and peel the label off slowly, usually the glue comes along with the label. This works well for pill bottles as well if you want to reuse them. On occasion the glue does not come off totally and you can use the rubbing alcohol or Goo Gone to finish the job !

      I use a heat gun to warm the labels of the pill bottles so that I can reuse them for storing LEDs and other small electronic components. It's pretty quick, but you need to be careful since it can get warm enough to melt the plastic. It's going to depend upon what sort of glue was used on the label for jar though. Some will come off with heat, but others might require mechanical action. Often on glass jars, I just put the label under running water and shave / scrape off the paper with a knife. If there is anything left afterwards, I might use a dash of paint thinner or turpentine on a paper towel to clean it up.

    • @CurmudgeonExtraordinaire
      @CurmudgeonExtraordinaire 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@raygarcia5759 -- You have to be careful using a heat gun on a car though since if you are not careful, you can burn the paint. You shouldn't need much heat to remove most of the dealership stickers / emblems though. I bought a new car a few months ago and I didn't even need to use a heat gun to remove the dealership emblem since it had not been on the car for very long.

    • @CurmudgeonExtraordinaire
      @CurmudgeonExtraordinaire 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@raygarcia5759 -- Sometimes you need to point these things out because there are people out there that who will come by later and figure that if 30 seconds of heat with heat gun is good, then 15 minutes with it is even better.

    I just tried this method and it worked. During that 10-min wait, I decided to try using just Crisco on one bottle, and Crisco with baking soda on another bottle. Crisco by itself worked as well but better with the baking soda. It looks to me the combination of baking soda and some kind of fat will do. Thank you for sharing this video.

    Thanks for bring up this topic.
    Some labels have a plastic film coat, so this will have to be peeled off first.
    Using cooking oil is a safe good choice.
    Stickers on frying pans and utensils must be done this way before use to avoid permanent damage.
    I use commercial turpentine to finish off the job only on glass!
    The nice jar attracted my attention and I wish they'd make longer lasting lid designs!

    Okay so I was one of those people that scoffed at this idea. I thought maybe the label glue was inferior and already peeling anyway, no way she could get it clean without cheating.
    Tried it on the stickiest jar I had and lo and behold, it worked. People need to know about this!

    Great! Been trying to scrape it off with a blunt knife for about an hour and gave up.
    Shame TH-cam reccomends 'Johnny Johnny Yes Papa' and other brain degrading rubbish instead of this light hearted channel, but oh well. Also wanted to say thanks for replying to lots of comments despite the video being 2 years old now because there aren't many content creators that seem to care any more

      I use Mobile Synthetic 15W40 after it's been run in the engine of a John Deere tractor for 300 hours. Or you could use Canola but they say that's bad for you :)

    • @H1delta
      @H1delta 6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      WD is oily, smelly, and difficult to wash off anything, especially your hands. The smell will remain on your hands for a long time. Use acetone instead. Pour acetone on a rag and wipe off the sticky glue from the labels. A stone evaporates quickly so pour a lot on the rag before using. Acetone is easier to wash off your hands.

    Rubbing alcohol or denatured alcohol. Only takes a minute. Kerosene or charcoal fluid also work well
