Got my eye on you, Marco
Devil Trigger is better if you plan on listening it on loop. Bury the Light gets extremely repetitive for me after a while. But my absolute favorite ost from DMC 5 is Silver Bullet.

It is better, bury the light has too much buildup for listening it on its own
1:50 I’ve never played oblivion but I recognized it was oblivion because of the NPC memes haha
STOP! You violated the law
CHEEEEESE! CHEESE FOR EVERYONE!
We will see about that
"Never compromise. Never blink. Never wink at injustice. Never quit trying to make this a better city for everyone."
I finally played oblivion this year and could take the theme “seriously” because of all the memes.
That was the trailer theme for Zelda BOTW, not technically in the game but its motif is.
I like Nintendo but the newer music not including newer Zelda games has just been kinda bland love botw Totk though
@@carterbohren8253 Kirby and the Forgotten Land. Now that I think about it, I don't know what you're on about... do you have an example?
Yeah I'm not sure I can relate to that. Mario Wonder, Odyssey, Both of the Pokemon Games, TOTK, Three Houses (although there's not a lot of music), MK8 (+ course packs) all have awesome soundtracks.
Of course not every game can have a banger soundtracks and there's gonna be forgettable ones like Switch Sports or FE Engage
But overall I'd say music is the one thing Nintendo has been getting right across the board
It's motif during the final boss is so hype even if the final boss is somewhat "easy"
You can hear this version in the credits.
Bro I felt the Editor on this one XD
"GTA-"
yeah of course. this is iconic.
"-V"
?????
My brother in Christ i felt like all the gamer ancestors in me died from that statement alone (including me as well)
Its crazy you mentioned world of goo music after hearing little inferno, its the same composer.
A good composer can be heard in their composition, makes sense lol
Those 20 seconds of Razormind, subconsciously made me want to restart a drill...

With a giant spoon of gold, of course.
WHAT THIRD WORLD COUNTRY MADE THIS DRILL?!!!

This Editor deserves a raise for this one, thanks for the laughs.
Marco going back and forth between Melee and Brawl killed me 😂
7:49 “I’ve tried 4 times” understandable
Death Stranding is a weird game. You either adore it or hate it, but if you hate it you'll either give up entirely on it or play it out of spite until you start adoring it.
@@LazzyVamples I know what ya mean. I feel most people gave up before it got better though. I think It'll always be for more of a niche audience, like those who like independent art house films and whatnot.
They hit you with five random indie games that you’ve never heard of and then immediately make you feel stupid when they play the most iconic song from a pretty well-known video game
😂
6:45 Marco about Devil Trigger: "It might be better than Bury the Light"
**backtracking instantly for fear of DMC fans finding him**
Marco, seconds later: "Tbh I don't enjoy DMC as a game"
lmao
6:03 As soon as I heard that music my mind snapped to all the hours I spent in Stellaris managing my vast empires and networks upon networks of diplomatic connections.
Same, I used to play until I fell asleep with the music playing
10:50 "Peaceful town, countryside, could be any of JRPG"
I mean you nailed it on the peaceful town, countryside part.
And it's inspired by Farming JRPG Harvest moon(Story of seasons). So, I think your senses are doing fine.
Whats hilarious is that you missed Frostpunk: "The City must Survive" even though you've done a video on it before. I'm cracking up over here.
This was actually a pretty good guessing game video. A lot of them I notice tend to be weighted towards certain types of games, but this one actually had a really good mix of genre and AAA vs Indie. Also Editor was on point for this one lol, so many good edits.
Lastly, I know you mentioned having difficulties in getting into halo because of the length. However, if I were to make a small recommendation, the song "Rain (from deference for darkness)" from the ODST OST is still one of the most beautiful pieces in halo imo.
He’s listened to it in try not to cry challenge or something. I forgot what the video is called sorry lol but I find it sad that he can’t get into it since it’s really not that hard of a game but oh well.
Im not sure if youve ever heard splatoon music or if youre even familiar with the game, but its definitely up there with some of the most unique video game soundtracks. The game has many different bands each with different musical styles and lore, its very interesting and the composers are very passionate with it. The game has many many different styles of music and i think it would be very interesting to see you listen to it. Id recommend songs like Anarchy Rainbow, Entropical, Fly Octo Fly, and Don’t Slip. Splatoon is definitely its own genre of music and i would love to see you listen to some of it :)
yes!! I would love to see him analyze some splatoon tracks. Maybe someone should recommend him the salmon run ost lol
@@havocsTeacherplease don’t dawg gonna give us a bad rep on wtf we listening to 💀 just make him listen to the multiplayer tracks or single player
@@Cashewz698 no yeah I agree, it was just a joke
"Wait, that soundtrack has a melody?! I didn't experience one."
Lmao, same! It's so silly that when I hear Breath of the Wild music I know instantly what it is but I can't remember s single song from it because I remember melodies, not random noises.
if you want to re-remember some BotW songs i highly recommend Ravioli's Theme or Hyrule castle interior. (i'm aware its Ravali. i will forever call him Ravioli)
6:51 "Devil trigger is better than Bury the Light" - excuuuuse me? - "actually, there's no such thing as better" - phew, was about to.. - "tbh I don't enjoy DMC as a game" EXCUUUUUUSE ME??
No I'm just taking the piss, love you Marco.
Coach is that you? Nick and Rochelle waiting, let’s go!
Absolutely love the humor of the editing, your editor is gold! 🙂
Your happiness at guessing Guild Wars 2 was delightful.
I’ve been playing it so I thought it was!!!!
I love the editor work on this video, amazing job!
And amazing video, don't worry marco, blindtests are hard :D
You should do more content like this. It's really entertaining. During covid, i played with friends a lot of guess music.
Me, who have played GW2 nearly daily for a couple of years now when the GW2 theme kicked in:
"Huh, this sounds familiar..."
I just gotta say I love your editor's commentary.
I love that the editor is becoming more and more unhinged 😂
You're onto something with your take on organ + edm; underrated combo imo
Always love hearing those strings when Frostpunk's soundtrack drops in.
Laika: Aged Through Blood really has such a stellar OST. Perfectly encapsulates the tone and setting of the game, in my opinion. I know you said you tried the game in the video, but I think the soundtrack is worth a full listen due to how many incredible tracks there are on it, both lyrical and not. So much soul was put into the music despite the bleak setting of the game, and after experiencing its story, I feel like that was intentional.
Love this. Cult of the Lamb theme hits so hard every time 🤌
I love that there were TWO Danny Baranowky games in this list. Man's a musical genius.
Super Meat Boy and Crypt of the Necrodancer.
I play so much Stellaris that theme is etched into the inide of my skull.
Plants vs Zombies the same. The main theme is just a part of my DNA at this point.
I love how the Brawl main theme is just so iconic that you can recognise it almost before it even starts 😂
Damn, that Little Inferno ost hit me in the feels. Haven't played that game yeeeears but I knew straight away what it was. Good times
RAHHH I LOVE ACNH!!! it’s music is so comforting to me and fr helped me get through the pandemic lockdown 🫶
Love these videos!
Hell yeah! I really like this series
These kinds of videos are quite fun. I hope some stuff like Puppetshow, Rayman 2/3/Arena, No Straight Roads, The Journey Down, GRIME, perhaps even Soulstice (i'm split on that OST, i really like the game but for the soundtrack you sometimes have to be... in the mood for it) and other games can find their way to these guessing games.
Though I also hope that them appearing on here won't make them exempt from being chosen for a reaction/analysis video.
I knew every strategy game song was from a strategy game just by the composition.
I love when theres so much confidence like "pokemon battle theme!" but its the title theme (you're often close enough though)
Half the commentary is "I don't like this game, I tried it" haha. It does kinda suck that the quiz maker doesn't list the artist/track name but only the game its from.
12:44 Frostpunk...with THIS music....was one of the most intense experiences i've ever made in video games.
Actually, as the one, who rarely actually buy games, I’m recommend you to play Horizon Zero Dawn. Amazing story, amazing soundtrack, and environment are so beautiful. Machines feel like part of the world, not a completely foreign object. I didn’t played Forbidden West, but I can assure that Zero Dawn and DLC Frozen Wilds are worth playing.
Watching Marco short out while listening to the Hellsinger track was fantastic.
Sucks that the only Sonic song in these things is OG Green Hill and nothing from other games. Frontiers has so many good ones
I was so disappointed that all of the retro songs were super easy. 😭 Like bro was the quiz maker born in the late 2000s? 😭😭😭
It's the same for Pokémon, they could you know, just use the Cynthia's theme or something from DPP or BW but in my memory It never happened....
Ice cap is peak
I so want to hear someone to try and figure out Speed Highway theme or something like that.
@@eyalamit5120 S3&K Has some of the best water and Ice levels from that era. I have a soft spot for Lava Reef.
0:33 - When’s the full version of this coming?! You sang it gloriously! 😁
You should listen to some of the OSTs from the Pikmin franchise. My personal favourite is the music for the final boss of Pikmin 2, its dynamic and has audio prompts for some of its attacks and changes as the fight progresses. Its the Titan Dweevil theme
Shout out to the editor for keeping things spicy
"edm mixed with organ, I'm here for it" you say? sounds like the music from umineko would be right up your alley!
Got the Stardew Valley one immediately because I'm playing the game right now and that very piece of the OST was playing at the same time x)
I hear the first tone from oblivion and instantly called it LOL. Played that game for WAY too long
Marco you've got to play Rebirth! The amount of great music in there will shock you how were they able to add so much to this, please do when you have the chance!
It's funny that he mentioned racing games when Payday 2 was up. It's game engine is called " Diesel " and it was primarely made for a racing game.
This had so many obscure songs and then a few super obvious iconic ones lol
I feel like the reason that these are so hard is without visuals and context the music kinda gets lost imo. But when all are put together is what makes music so memeorable.
The song at 11:01 from Returnal (Hyperion) is really cool, and it's made even better if you listen to the song leading up to it (ascend the spire). I recommend anyone seeing this to check them out.
That entire level, I turned into that meme picture of DiCaprio pointing whenever I heard that melody. What a killer way to incorporate *that* song into the game.
Oh I could definitely go for a Marco goes through the Silent Hill 2 ost stream! Also I'm with you on Halo, I've tried half a dozen times to playthrough the MC collection and it just doesn't grab me. Past its time for me I guess.
This was so fun!
That Returnal soundtrack (Hyperion) never ceases to hit me...
That was a blast! It felt like i was playing the game along with an old friend
Damn marco really backed up on half the statements he made in this one. I ain’t mad tho it was funny as hell. Good on editor too
So glad Hunt Showdown gets a moment in the sun here. Yes, this game is awesome, and part of what makes it awesome is the complete vision of the devs who actually formed a band themselves (the Port Sulphur Band) to record all the songs featured in the game (with a new theme for each event).
Absolutly ❤
"I tried Stellaris and my eyes crossed" LOL you know what totally fair. I'm a Stellaris lover but it's absolutely A LOT to get thrown into.
Side note, I do admire that you at least try the games! Even if you end up not enjoying them.
So many games musics that I love never show up on these 😔
Like the Killzone 3 main theme (and ever we fight on)
HOW DID YOU NOT RECOGNISE BIOSHOCK, YA HERETIC?
That aside, look up the Splatoon ost it's an acid trip.
It has been so long lmao
I sympathize on Halo. I always get chased with flamethrowers when I say this, but Halo: CE has not aged well in some areas. A major example being the level design. Yes, the missions are long, and I could take it if the maps were top tier, but the maps tend to be 30-45 mins of identical looking locations repeating over and over, a lot of it with very little enemy variation. It gets really tedious really fast. The only reason I managed to force myself through it after all these years in the Master Chief Collection (I never had an Xbox) was because the story was interesting and the combat in and of itself is good.
I kinda want to see you react to the crypt of the necrodancer soundtrack, but mainly because when you are close to the shop, you can hear the shop keeper belting out some operatic notes along with it. You may love the game too. I think it's cheap. definitely worth checking out.
I had goosebumpshearing a Silent Hill 2 theme after years.
This is captain bones approved
If Red Dead Redemption is one of your favorite games why dont you have a reaction video to some of its music? Even RDR1 aswell?
Asked him the same thing and it's because of copywrite apparently :(
Since you failed on the SH2 song, now you must play all the silent hills in October to experience the music in context.
Or something.
That opera version of the Pokemon theme... Awesome. Now I want a full version of it.
Pd: I sucked at this. At one point I just gave up and was just vibing to the music.
The moment I heard the fricking Stellaris one I went "Hold up is my game open?" and then realized it came from the video. Like bruh I did NOT expect it to be in one of these vids
the editor went wild on this vid, but music quiz's are nice
really glad that there was that Nier Automata one, got some of the best OSTs out there.
Whenever I hear songs from Nier Replicant / Gestalt or Nier Automata I can't help but start a playlist with those songs.
14:14 omg guild wars 2 mentioned
I didn't get that many, but "Welcome to the Rapture" from Bioshock was instant.
I like how we all know it's "one wing angle" when first note comes out.
Some video game sonhs are real tough for me because I just create a playlist of them to listen to at work so more I associate from hearing on my list that the actual game itself since I add a bunch I like but have never played the game. So my brain will instantly know the song, but no idea which game xD
Editor having field day it seems😅.
I‘m sure you‘d love the songs by Mili in the Project Moon games
Super Meat Boy and Crypt of the Necrodancer are both awesome games with amazing soundtracks. Danny Baranowski writes some amazing music.
12:42 I’m so proud I actually recognized Frostpunk from 1 stream alone.
I got every song from games i actually played. That being said... That selection is way more varied than my steam library
Really should listen to the non-combat countryside and town ambiance music someday, Marco. The story behind its creation could give you an idea why it sounds the way it does.
Also, the fact none of these have had any track from Girls' Frontline, Soul Calibur, or American McGee's Alice games is just sad.
I’d love to see you cover Inscryption’s OST. The Hunt: Showdown song in this video reminded me of a song from that game. Deathcard Cabin is the game’s main theme, with the act 1 boss themes (The Prospector/Angler/Trapper, as well as Leshy) also being excellent. The full OST covers a lot of sonic ground, so it would be interesting to hear your take.
the sekiro one set off my ptsd
"I'm not trying to be contentious" he says in the middle of a video in which he says extremely contentious things.
I know JRPGs and retro game soundtracks really well, but this was filled with too many modern indie games I don't have time to play lol
Oh my god the genius guess at GW2 i'm speechless haha
4:46 this game was popular years ago it’s old but still cool
5:59 the editing lol
1:15 Karma gained ❤
Marco, have you played Grim Fandango? It has a kickass soundtrack, that I still hear used on someplaces without due credit
4:48 world of goo full ost reaction when? u loved the one song u listened to and im sure you'd absolutely love the rest as well (personal favorite ost ever)
Honestly, I really love Sekiro's music
Now that i think of it , the only reason that i might play a single player game more than once , is the music.
Now that I know Marco has played hunt showdown I really want to see him make videos on those soundtracks
15:18 it's "you never see IT coming" instead of "me"
thought it was boothill in the thumbnail at first xD.
you son of a nice lady 🤠
If you've not fully delved into halo then please give the song "deliver hope" a listen. Its not all gung ho or epic as other halo songs but its BEAUTIFUL
