    It was nice to see a review of the rear seat where the person wasn't saying, "I'm ONLY 6'2 and there isn't enough room for me in the back with the front seat all the way to the rear"

    This is an excellent review of the CX 30 turbo which I bought over a month ago. I actually learned some things that I didn’t know yet about it. Have owned many cars and I absolutely love this one!

    bought a CX-30 GS FWD, great vehicle, feels so luxurious inside, took it over the Seltos EX and Qashqai SV. Agree with about the steering wheel, my previous it was fully heated.

    Re fuel economy
    After enjoying the turbo power for a couple of weeks, I tried a long freeway run (180 s) using cruise control set on the speed limit @ 100 kmh. The fuel economy display was zeroed at the start of the run.
    At the end the display showed 7.0 l per 100 kms. This is better than my 2007 Mazda 3 2.3 best highway economy of 7.5 l per 100 kms.
    Given that the CX 30 is taller, heavier and has AWD and has an extra 100 HP, I was expecting maybe 8.0 l per 100kms at best.
    7.0 l per 100 kms = 33 mpg US or 40.3mpg Imperial.
    This was a mostly flat run at about 100' above sea level, not much wind 50f day.
    Ideal conditions for good fuel economy.
    Fuel was the cheap stuff, 87 Octane reg.

    Just purchased a 2022 CPO Turbo Premium. After filling up twice with Sunoco 94 octane, I put it throgh its paces. 0-60 in 5.76 seconds. The car has only 2,460 miles so I expect that might get better as it breaks in. I then took it upstate NY on Route 6.
    A six mile stretch downhill of a winding mountainous road. Some areas speed limit drops down to 35 MPH. In sport mode,
    I never dropped below 65 & as high as 80. As the vehicle leaned into the turns, I felt the powertrain favoring one wheel then another as it fought against gravity. It felt & sounded like a German luxury sports car with no turbo lag. Stability was true & solid. A real thrill! On parkway coming home at a steady 80 MPH it was quiet as a church.
    The Adaptive Headlights along with the auto-highbeams at night is amazing. Everywhere I went the road lit up like Yankee Stadium during a night game. Should be mandatory. Would save many lives. The Bose sound is real quality however I would of liked a sub-woofer volume button. For the money, you can't beat her!!!

    I notice the difference in power with 93 vs 87 octane. It’s slight but enough where I go for 93. Too much fun

    The CX-30 turbos are having an excessive oil consumption issue that Mazda is well aware of and have not come up with a fix even as late as May 2022.

    • @ztekz
      @ztekz 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Get the Mazda 6...longer wheelbase, quieter cabin and better ride and handling and the ind rear suspension soaks up bumps better than the torsion rears of the CX-30. Also, 6 is an older platform so lots of deals on them vs the newer CX-30 that doesn’t have a lot of deals on

    • @yordan826
      @yordan826 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@ztekz thank you for the suggestion, however you said the Mazda 6 has better handling but how is that?, The Mazda 6 is FWD while the CX30 is AWD, can you elaborate?, Also had you test drive both cars?, Not trying to insult your intelligence just making sure.

      I have the cx-30 awd turbo and I love it. I do like the 6 but I like the idea of stepping on it without much wheel spin or torque steer. Plus the awd is a nice to have for bad weather. The 8 inch of ground clearance is nice for worry free driving in steep parking lots and what not. I have never driven the 6 however

    • @yordan826
      @yordan826 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@pippinjameshicks I feel you with the clearance with sedans definitely gotta be more careful with potholes and road bumps, however despite being AWD there is some wheel spin and torque steering on the CX-30, i have watched a few review videos that shows it.

    “Sport” mode is for off-road driving - it adjusts power to the wheels based on conditions. The sport mode icon shows a vehicle climbing. (Just bought a Soul Red Premium - it’s awesome.)

    • @glenbreaks5448
      @glenbreaks5448 3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You might be thinking of the off road button.
      That is definitely supplies extra traction for off road use.
      The sport mode is a totally different thing. Sport mode is for extra acceleration on road. It holds each gear longer and the engine comes on a bit harder too.

    Great review! I love Mazda. It is a very "slept on" brand. This is the first review I've seen that mentions the half heated steering wheel. That is super annoying and a full heated wheel is a must have for me but still I will purchase this!

    I recently test drove a CX5 Turbo and was disappointed with the turbo's power delivery from a stop. The power delivery can best be described as smooth and gradual. The end result is it doesn't feel all that fast. It feels slower, by a wide margin, than my 2015 BMW X1, which has similar hp.

    • @captaintom24
      @captaintom24 3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      As a long time multiple BMW owner, I find the CX-5 comparable with regard to the refinement of the turbo engine paired with the transmission (even though it's only a 6 speed). It's not a rocket, but it's close and just as fun to drive as the many BMWs I've owned for less money. Price to fun ratio is high.

      An x1 with similiar equipment is also 10k plus or more.I just sold my stinger and bought one of these outright and pocketed several thousands of dollars.With the money i saved and pocketed today--I own one of these--turbo premium plus and have right at 40k already in the bank for my next vehicle.Loved the stinger--but i started ebiking (and need a cuv to carry it)after i got the Stinger and they also went up in value--I sold the stinger for more then I paid for it over a year ago.It might not be a stinger--but this thing can easily hit triple digit speeds.It is also very comfortable and interior is literally on par with Audis that i rent on trips.

    Agree 100% about the steering wheel. I rest my hand on the 7-8 position on the highway - certainly don't hold it up high when significant movement of the wheels isn't required. Might as well not have it..

    Heated steering wheel is NOT important to the rest of North America..... only Canada complain about not having a 100% cover heated steering wheel..... Mazda is not going to invent a brand new 100% heated steering wheel for just Canada where the car market is so TINY....... the whole Canadian car market is so small and UNPROFITABLE compared to the USA or just CALIFORNIA alone..... we don't need heated steering wheel here un CALIFORNIA....my Lexus LS460L has every comfort and convenience features and I never used any of them....if I did then only a few times.....
