yes, all a design thing, for eg. that is why ultra large format still shooters (8x10" and above) use wooden sticks, they claim the wood absorbs the vibrations, and doesn't transfer them to the camera. this is very noticeable as for these still view cameras the depth of field is like a sheet of paper, so any motion WILL show up.
It was a great review already but that anecdote about the wooden Miller sticks covering the dead Blue whale footage was incredible!
