    What do you think about the YC Onion Pineta Peak tripod in comparison to the Sachtler Flowtech?

      Favorite feature: no toy-color accents! Just looks professional - ironically more than the O.G.

      I have used it for the last 3 months, it is definitely staying under my rig. at least until I have no other things I need to to buy and randomly have money just lying around.

      I have enjoyed my 75mm Flowtech tripod for 3 years. It is one of the best gear investments I have made and would replace it if lost or stolen. That said, I'm pleased to see other companies like YC Onion and Sirui making tripods to compete directly with the Flowtech at a much lower price. Competition is always good for the consumer.

    how does it compare to the smallrig potato jet tripod?

  • @gorgmd

    Love this tripod, thanks for the review.
    The head looks exactly like a Smallrig DH10 - from the way the lever extends to the overall design, the screw placements and the Manfrotto to RS3 plate switch.

    Got the trypod a few weeks ago and I really like the design of the legs. Just one big flaw for me is the ball head. It's really well thought out, but get's lose when using a littler heavier set-up, like a FX6 fully rigged. I changed the ball for an iFootage one and now it works really well.

    • @CineD
      @CineD  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      Do you mean the „Coconut“ ball head with a fluid head attached to it? Interesting. I tried it with three different heads and it seemed to work fine, but I didn‘t really put super heavy setups onto it. Nino

      @@CineD Yes, I mean the coconut ball which comes with the trypod, but I use an ifootage K7 head with it and now also the ifootage coconut ball.

    So I love my sachtler, I genuinely feel like I'm never going back (unless I get like an oconnor or something).. BUT I'm just happy more companies are taking tripods more seriously and giving the market options. Back when I started, it was too much for my budget or slim pickin's.. so seeing products like this does make me happy :)

    • @CineD
      @CineD  6 หลายเดือนก่อน

      totally agree, I think as a market it was boring for many companies for a long time, which left it to some of the expert companies in the field with very little competition, allowing them to charge a lot for tripods. Now it‘s quickly becoming a different story …

    Good review. Thank you. But one VERY important point is missing here: how does it perform when you pan? To me it looks like the leg attachments on top are very small and weak. I hate this with cheap tripods. The whole tripod then twists and winds when panning.

    • @CineD
      @CineD  6 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      I noticed no twisting whatsoever, seriously … just don‘t use their FH75 fluid head, which is not a great head to pan. But with a Sachtler head it worked perfectly.

    Does the mid spreader clashes with the center column when closing the tripod legs?

  • @Its_Quash
    @Its_Quash 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

    It appears surie replaced it with a different version of a quick release on the legs. Which I understand since my model I can hear crunching and is actually pretty hard to work with if going solo

    • @CineD
      @CineD  7 หลายเดือนก่อน +2

      They replaced them because of a patent issue with Videndum, the Sachtler mother company.

    Looks pretty good. I think I would miss the magnetic lock from the Sachtler's, which I love. I purchased the Sirui to save cost and it broke on an important shoot (leg locked itself at a specific height). Bought the Sachtler just for peace of mind. Hopefully this one works well and stays on the market to offer an alternative.

    • @CineD
      @CineD  7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      That‘s a shame - yeah the Pineta Peak really feels like it can last for a while, the mechanism is not nearly as stiff as on the Sirui legs. Nino

    a great design, but in my opinion this isn't just a 'video' or 'cine' tripod, from the looks, features etc. it can act as a support for wildlife photographers, even shooters, in those cases mounting binoculars/scopes, or mirrorless & dslr's with long lenses (200-600mm) for still imagery, weather 35mm format, or Medium format (like Phase One, xt; Hasselblad H, or V series) or spotting uses.

    I was gonna get the sachtler flowtech 75 at b&h and went to the floor unit to check it out one last time. unfortunately, it was broken. If a floor unit broke in store, it gave me 2nd thoughts about purchasing the sachtler flowtech 75.

    WTF...You missed the WHOLE point of these tripods. There isn't any shot of someone actually opening up the tripod from lowest to highest with out having to unclick all three legs from the bottom. That's the selling point and the new technology. Can could be a 5 seconds video.

    Looks like a good tripod with nice features, but I'm not sure I would call reverse engineering and putting out a similar, but cheaper, product "serious innovation."
