I was a young soilder in 1983 I bought a leatherman tool when the first became available in the UK. I had it for years used often finaly lost it in the early 2000s when it was stolen when I left my duty belt un-supervised in a police locker room .. I was very sad to lose it.

Yeah agreed . I really hope a production model comes out because this is literally perfection for me. The Magnacut blade is awesome and everything, but I'm more interested in the tool layout and selection than anything else 😮
Knife and the HD scissors on the same side, Check. Full size file, check. Bit kit drivers, check. Saw blade, check. Spring loaded pliers, check. Pocket clip, check. Color scheme and looks, check. Functionality, check.
      IMO it's the perfect cross between a P2/P4 and a Surge/Wave+!!!

Beautiful tool. One thing Leatherman doesn't do enough is the T-bits like on my old Surge. I can exchange the saw blade for the diamond/wood-metal file, which means I can have both with me in the field, and I can pull the file in case I need to restore my knife edge in a pinch. Small thing, but having used it before, it's a feature I really value.

I'm incredibly disappointed that I wasn't able to get one. I was there on the site when they posted it, but it sold out at some point between me entering the checkout, and completing it. Very frustrating, seeing as there are already a bunch of them posted on Ebay from scalpers.
My only hope is that the Arc really is basically the same tool. I'm a huge fan of spring-action pliers, so having them on a full sized tool with bit drivers and other large tools is very appealing to me.

For a rushed video, Jon is as articulate as ever and gives a terrific overview of the "wave" of the future for Leatherman. Nice to see the upgraded metals; but, this multitool is too beautiful to use! LOL

Thx for showing the new LM Garage! 349 bugs for an upgraded version of the wave. I find, pricing is over the top. If you look on the CPM Magnacut blade, it is still ground very coarsely. The specifications miss the HRC of the blade. 62 HRC as sweet spot for magancut, resulting in maximum blade robustness since it is a multi tool - I doubt that.
Clearly a collectors thing instead of hard using it in every day life. I would still prefer the wave - better price to benefit ratio. But of course I hope, they will release a "better bang for the bug version" in the future!

when the screw on ones glasses gets loose, the fine driver comes very handy, the awels with the sharp edge are great for making holes in wood. bottle openers are not much a serious need anymore, so I would replace it with a small wood chisel gouge like wood cut artist use. yet a tin can opener is still handy. for those of us that walk out in nature, BLUE is a perfect colour to find quickly a dropped tool. as trying to find a gray or camouflage tool dropped by accident in a lot of debris is a nightmare

my old Gerber (800 legend, if memory serves...got mine from a PX and any I got for backups/replacement have been cheaper feeling and just not the same) from 2001 has externally accessible tools and any time I have looked to replace it (no need to, but after war and a hard life it could be retired, still my fully functional EDC for now), I could never find good multitools with external tools AND spring pliers.

They can fail on cheaper multitools. The only spring pliers that work still between me and my buddies' 20yo+ EDC multitools are the ones on my Gerber. So, I assume it is just to cut a small bit of material cost (the spring/spring bar) and to remove a future failure point.

@@0011ytvideo Nice. I really don't have a need to keep a multitool on me. I have a Maxpedition huge edcm maximizer pouch that I keep in my car's console. The wave+ lives in there. I also have a Vanquest trident 21 I'll throw in my trunk if I'm taking a long trip, stuffed with goodies including the surge, bit kit, and ratcheting driver. I'd say 99% of my multitool use is at home. And funny enough, I end up using the Gerber dime for the majority of my needs.

It's a beautiful tool, man if I was able to get one,I'd have to have two not to be greedy but one for a collector piece an one to actually use.

Sehr schönes Tool 👍🏼 Ich habe auch eins bekommen, allerdings hat meins weiße Griffschalen. Sieht auch super aus.
Gab es verschiedene Versionen davon? 🤔

I'm just happy I managed to get one of the normal white ones. So far I'm 5 for 5 Garage tools.

I was able to buy one. It would be interesting to have a breakdown of how many were bought in each country

Very nice video, thanks! The 5 looks impressive & you deserved an opportunity to get one...I understand they went for about $300.00 dollars...unofficially, double the price....the Arc will probably about the same price, as I think the Arc is based on the 5....too rich for many people, especially blue-collar working people....I think Leatherman is moving towards luxury status(Montblanc) along with Victorinox in terms of their tools & accessories....those who will be able to purchase them will be collectors, high-end tradesmen & those folks who can't afford them, but will save like hell to buy them...DIY's, working-man tradesmen & average joes will look to alternatives like Diacamping & other up-and-coming companies for good quality tools & multitools at competitive prices....

That means it going to be at least £400 (more than $500) here in the UK. However Victorinox aren't at all expensive here in the UK, for the price of a Wave I can get a Spirit Plus and have some change left over.

I'm not even going to look at the price, I'd imagine it's between £300 (if you're lucky) and £500. The MUT is not over £200.
