- "You've Got a Friend in Me" was written by Randy Newman as the theme song for the Disney/Pixar animated film Toy Story. I transcribed and adapted the version sung by Wheezy in Toy Story 2 for a local brass band who will be performing it with a children's choir at a special "Grandfriends Day" concert, which celebrates the connection between grandparents and grandchildren through music.
Thank you to my brother Sam for recording the vocal with me. Fun times! :-)
Instrumentation: traditional brass band + voice.
Score available at musescore.com/maevelander/you...
Parts in the video left to right: Soprano Cornet, 1st Cornet, 2nd Cornet, 3rd Cornet, Flugel, Solo Horn, 1st Horn, 2nd Horn, 1st Baritone, 2nd Baritone, Euphonium, Tuba, 1st Trombone, 2nd Trombone, 3rd Trombone, Bass Trombone
* I don't quite own every brass band instrument so in the video I play the Baritone parts on Valve Trombone and the Tuba part on Euphonium down 1 octave. - เพลง
Wow!! Maeve. Your videos, brass playing, singing and drumming is amazing. The power of TH-cam with its global reach. Magnificent. Let’s have more. Robert Parker Alto Sax Busker from Abergavenny, South Wales, UK.
so, we're friends? Yay. Wonderful production. Again.
My son loved it💜
Thank you so much for this amazing video and all the effort that went into making it.
So I'm sitting here on the nearest thing to the direct opposite side of the planet (Newport RI, USA) from you surfing my TH-cam and up pops your music! I am blown away! I am a huge brass fan but have no musical talent myself. What I do have however is a lifetime as a network TV and radio news broadcaster and video producer. And in my experience - you are AMAZING. I hear some Harry James influences and some Tommy Dorsey in your work and I'm sure more than a smattering of Glenn Miller. And then you turn around and play Jobim and then give us a ragtime Lady Madonna. I have worked with some of the best network audio and video editors and your touch is superb. I'm sure you get bombarded with requests but I think you would have a ball creating your version of the Glenn Miller tune "American Patrol" from '43 or '44 I think. Keep up the great work. Your music is a tremendous blessing.
Play those next level beats!!
Awesome Maeve! And Sam too of course!
Complimenti, meraviglioso arrangiamento e video spettacolare!
Thanks again Maeve for putting a 😀 on my face today!
Seriously, Maeve ... 18 tracks!! Come on!! You can't be serious ... but yes, there it is, and yes you are! Great!! Really great!!! Thanks!!! [More greetings from Tucson!]
Another great arrangement! Of course, all the band members did a great job as usual. 😃 You and Sam sound good together. Thanks!

Great stuff! And a LOT of work went into all those parts. Well Done!
ok now you are just showing off :P :)
You play the drums too?
Great performance :)
Beginner 🙂 I joined a local jazz band last year in the hopes of learning to play and getting a better feel for the role of rhythm section. Really enjoying it!
i think your videos are really great. You are a great musician. I'm looking forward to upcoming videos from you !! Go on!!! Greetings from Germany!!!👍👍👍
Thanks @drumico, that's really nice feedback to receive. 😆
Wow, this is very well done, and your arrangement is really great! 😀 Greetings from Germany.
Very cool, thank you!
💐💐👍👏👏👏👏👏💫
Wow!
Fantastic job Maeve & Sam. Never saw you on percussion before. It's heart warming to see that you're so close with your brother. (But couldn't he have helped out on a trombone part?) Are you actually playing a soprano cornet? Can't tell from the vid.
Thanks Gary! ❤️ Haha yeah he could have done a much better job on trombone than me! But then I wouldn't get any better would I? 😆 Well spotted - it's just a regular cornet.
Hermoso .bello .me encanta el swing que le pones al hacer música.
