I do wonder what they'll do for Advance Wars 2 given that game has a dedicated theme for both CO and Super CO powers.

They delayed its release because of the Ukraine War. Because of that they probably feel obliged out of principle to only release it after the Ukraine War ends. If they release it before they would look like hypocrites who have moved on and have banalized war. They are in a though spot. I’m in love with the music choices…for the most part. Definitely gonna miss hearing the opening of every CO’s theme at the start of each turn, but hearing the drums going when units enter battle and a more upbeat version of a CO’s theme when they trigger a CO Power in AW1, I can dig that (hopefully they keep the (Super) CO Power theme in BHR). I’m curious though since Andy replaces the player/candidate in Nell’s training mission how the “Nell’s papa” joke is going to play out.
For those of you that think this looks boring, you've just never played these games. I can't explain to you why it feels so much better than most turn based games, it just does. Probably because the placement of enemy units actually make you think later in the game. This game is deceptively hard, but not impossible to eventually clear a level.
If they remake Chrono Trigger.......I would be so happy. One of the best RPGs ever for sure if not the best. I remember playing it on the DS, not knowing anything about it only hearing it was a good game so i bought it. One of the best decisions i ve made :)

Just want to start by saying I am genuinely super excited to see Nintendo bringing Advance Wars back. I really liked advance wars as a kid, still one of my favorite series of games. So as a lifelong fan, and someone who will buy this on release day and possibly urge my friends to do so as well (or buy it as a gift), I want nothing other than for it to be awesome. - I'm happy to hear its not coming out until the end of the year. Take whatever time you need to make it great. - The character cut-ins and ultimate move animations are more or less perfect. The rest of the game should look exactly like this. - The terrain (other than the buildings) is really good. The map background and the raised playing board are really nice touches and fit perfectly. - those map models need some serious love however. Hopefully that's just a matter of time and work, but maybe not. In their current state, they largely fail to capture the aesthetic flavor or charm of the original sprites. Just watch a few moments of gameplay from either of the originals and you'll know exactly what I'm talking about. I'm not a purist, modernizing certain aspects of beloved old games when bringing them back is understandable as a means of appealing to a broader audience and not just core fans. In my perfect timeline, the art would have been modernized by using all beautifully hand drawn and animated assets a la Cuphead. But that would be a very expensive and unorthodox move to take for a series that's been dormant for two decades. 3D is fine. Even still - The original units were cartoony, they bounce on their tracks, pulse their cannons like an old time animated steamboat stack, etc. The buildings had this wonderful forced perspective that made them grow out of the ground as if they were stretching towards the sky. These guys are pretty static (and boring). The infantry look like placeholders, particularly the blue guys. The simple, evocative, silhouettes of the troop sprites has been lost. The armor is a little better, but still generally looks like assets without any textures on it, or Warhammer models spray painted by a 5 year old. The more or less uniform color scheme on the S/M tanks, apcs, and artillery doesn't translate very well in 3D. - The battle art is in a little better shape, The munitions and explosions look good, but the rest still generally suffers from not having much of any character. I never turned them off in the originals, they were satisfying and tense to watch. - The gameplay looks identical to the originals. That's just fine, but it's not what's going to be bringing in a new / young audience. The gameplay is relatively simple, but engaging, which is what made it such a good portable title. It does not however stand out as being particularly deep or unique - probably not worthwhile on its own to justify buying the game. In sum, I'll get this no matter what, out of nostalgia and love for the series, but if I were to show this to a friend with no real prior interest in the series, they would most likely pass. Particularly considering the full box price of $60 for a remaster of a very old gameboy game. What I want for that price, and what would make me recommend it to others, is a game that at the very least replicates the visceral joy of playing Advance Wars, preferably improving on it, being that this is a remake.

I am so happy to see this Advance Wars revival! I am strongly considering buying a switch just to play it. If I could offer one piece of constructive criticism it would be that the grid lines on the battle map have got to go. The original games didn't have these lines and the maps look much better without them.
It's hard to hear over the commentary, but the game has dynamic music! Seems like each CO theme has a "battle" version which plays during combat animations, and the coolest part to me is the hyped-up remixes of your CO's theme when you use your power! That's super cool. @Bobby Sharpe Yep
We seriously need some Sami and Shantae Crossover Fanart to Celebrate!
I like the fact that the CO Powers come with a slight remix on the character's theme, at least in the first game's segment. I also like the dynamic snare remix for when you're in combat too. I do wonder what they'll do for Advance Wars 2 given that game has a dedicated theme for both CO and Super CO powers.
few changes i noticed. First, it appears the player is no longer referenced by the characters, and now Andy follows along with Nell for the tutorial. Second, The Medium Tank mission is where CO Power is introduced now, and Nell can even use hers in the tutorial.
Advisor leaves :/
The advisor will be present, I just read in the advance wars nintendo page and says you command the army as a tactical adviser :D
Release the bloody thing.
Bro this just popped into my feed and I thought "finally yeeessss" then I saw the 1 year ago then died inside. Right now there is no reason to kept this game locked up, unless miraculously they decided to improve the models for units. Nintendo give us a damn update on release atleast.
Would be real nice if you would finally release the game, Nintendo
… “BRING BACK ADVANCED WARS - DUAL STRIKE!!!” /wants to play as Eagle
You can play as Eagle in AW1, AW2 and Dual Strike. But he is an unlockable character.
@@heavyarms55 Certainly got a better deal than the likes of Andy, Olaf, Kanbei, and Drake at least.
Eagle is my favorite CO.
AW - Days of Ruin is so much fail …
@@RainingMetal What do you mean? A better deal for what?
And then they decided to make an excuse and delay the game indefinitely... thanks Nintendo, God forbid you have some pride and release your game when you say you will.
I really hope you are young, because a grown person having this braindead of an opinion would be really sad.
Such a disappointment. This game was originally scheduled for dec 2021 release and it’s going on June 2022 with no details from Nintendo.
They delayed its release because of the Ukraine War. Because of that they probably feel obliged out of principle to only release it after the Ukraine War ends. If they release it before they would look like hypocrites who have moved on and have banalized war. They are in a though spot. Other games can release war games by now since the War in Ukraine is no longer a novelty shock to people.
The papercraft art style looks really clean.
I can’t wait to buy these games a third time.
God I wish they'd upload no commentary versions of these so i can hear the music.
I am glad they revived Advanced Wars, but the graphics look.... odd. I wish they were more stylized.
Yeah or maybe redone the sprites to be a 2d more detailed model rather then 3d
it looks like a toy soldier set
@@qwertygutierrez1293 It is a toy soldier set, Advance Wars levels are played on a military strategy table so units are in fact "toys" or military pawn
The trailer said that the game footage is not final, so it might improve later on.
@@s.a0411 It might but I don't mind the game looking like this, thinking of Link's Awakening
Great to see the series return loved it back in the day
This E3 was great for Game Boy Advance fans: Metroid + Advance Wars + Warioware
Haha that's what I thought too. As a gba fan , they hit almost all of my favorite games, now if we can just get golden sun
@@guadalupesepulveda8078 You can't have a complete GBA celebration without Golden Sun and FZERO(it had 3 games in the series). Not to mention Megaman Battle Network/Castlevania as third party
As an avid player of the Advance Wars series, watching him play, and making such rookie mistakes all the time, it was hard to watch, but at the same time super excited about my favorite series getting a reboot
Yep if the AI is more aggressive or defensive his defeat is assured. But still excited for the release.
"I ve got the bridge covered" Missile lancher range "Nope"
I'm not a big fan of the visual style used here, but I am happy this series is back.
I never thought I'd see the day. Thanks, Nintendo!
So hyped!
Ahhhh, that remix of Nell's theme! They haven't lost a step with the music :D
Even though I don't have a Nintendo console and handheld anymore, Advance Wars Series was one of my favorite games to play.
So Tiny Metal must've performed very well or something
Tiny Metal, War Groove, Vestaria Saga, and other indie love letters to intelligent systems games made nintendo take notice
The combat animations were such a smart way to add a sense of scale to a turn based strategy game. Glad they kept their look and feel so close to the original. Also, really hope they make a proper Advance Wars sequel next 😁
After a while I always end up turning animations off in long battles. Gets kind of repetitive
I hope there's a 2D mode.
DO NOT DELAY!!!!!
하... 너무설렌다... 인생게임 리메이크 버젼이라니... 진짜... 스위치로 시리즈 후속편 나와주길 기대했는데... 제일 좋아했던 시리즈 1,2 복각이라니....더좋아... 행복해... 사랑해
Nice this series really deserves some love, please do Golden Sun next.
Oh god those animations look so good
Probably dating myself by saying it, but Advance Wars has maximum study-hall energy for me. Pass-n-play multiplayer was awesome.
For those of you that think this looks boring, you've just never played these games. I can't explain to you why it feels so much better than most turn based games, it just does.
Probably because the placement of enemy units actually make you think later in the game.
This game is deceptively hard, but not impossible to eventually clear a level.
Can't wait for the release
haha
Hype. I loved the originals. Spent hours upon hours in the map builder.
Nintendo: Welcome back!
ME: I never left.....
this makes me want a battallion wars game aswell, i love that series so much
>hold button to speed animations
>New
Uh...no, it isn't.
Days of ruin walks in
Re-Boot Camp implies that this is a Boot Camp to get you ready for a reboot.
Golden Sun and Chrono Trigger Coming soon!
If they remake Chrono Trigger.......I would be so happy. One of the best RPGs ever for sure if not the best. I remember playing it on the DS, not knowing anything about it only hearing it was a good game so i bought it. One of the best decisions i ve made :)
Only of Advance Wars does well
If it doesn't Nintendo has no real reason to believe that Golden Sun would do any better do why bother when people don't put their money where their mouth is?
I don't see what Chrono Trigger has to do with anything, it's Square not Nintendo
I always really loved the highly colorful and cartoony Cold War aesthetics to all the units in the game. You don't find that anywhere else.
I'm really excited about this coming out
I was hoping Dual Strike would've been a part of this release, too, but I'm still just happy to see more of this series.
Also... Please let us switch costumes... I really wanna see Olaf with the original Santa costume, and Nell with the sleeveless outfit.
You can now never say a franchise is "dead"
I probably played this more than Pokémon as a kid. I love this game
This is the best news I've heard after metroid dread.
low key the best announcement of nintendos presentation
This announcement should be getting more traction than it has been. It's way over 10 years since we last saw this series!
This is probably my biggest but most welcome surprise of E3 this year. I ADORE Advance Wars! WarGroove is excellent too and very similar, but nothing beats these games for me
The Advanced war series is back, day one purchase for me.
*Nintendo Wars*
It's not the Game Boy Advanced
@@insertcolorherehawk3761 advance wars dual strike for the ds doesn't exist, right?
@@Mr.jock_Kyller famicom wars doesn't exist, right?
@@insertcolorherehawk3761 he is refering to the "advance wars" series. Yeah, the series is nintendo wars, but then have nothing to do with the console where is released. "Advance wars" became its own thing, at least outside of Japan.
@@Mr.jock_Kyller I was pointing out that the name of the GBA/DS games of the Wars series was Advance Wars, not "Advanced" Wars. Hence the joke about the Game Boy "Advanced"
Dimitri is truly having a blast playing this !!! His energy is contagious !!
I will buy this, but I hope they make Days of Ruins next.
Or an actual new game...
Nah i this does well and takes this as a sign that people want new games in the series. Hopefully they improve the art with the next installment
I feel like ssmbu made refreshed Nintendo’s mind of their backlog of games and made them think what series to bring back, like golden sun
Love this surprise. Any chance for Megaman Battle Network?
That's a little different that's owned by Capcom while Nintendo owns Advance Wars.
So glad to see this series again, especially how they upgraded the graphics without completely replacing them.
I am so happy to see this Advance Wars revival! I am strongly considering buying a switch just to play it.
If I could offer one piece of constructive criticism it would be that the grid lines on the battle map have got to go. The original games didn't have these lines and the maps look much better without them.
You can turn this off…
ONE OF THE BEST FRANCHISES EVER!
It's hard to hear over the commentary, but the game has dynamic music! Seems like each CO theme has a "battle" version which plays during combat animations, and the coolest part to me is the hyped-up remixes of your CO's theme when you use your power! That's super cool. I wonder if the AW2 campaign will still have the old songs for Normal/Super Power remixed?
I have dreamed of advance wars begin remastered. I am so happy to see this back for us old fans and new younger ones can enjoy these amazing two games! Perfect on the switch too for coop or play against each other!
