Agreed with paying for your flight to Hawaii. I paid $600 per person for a flight from Boston to Los Angeles(5 nights) Los Angeles to Maui (7 nights) then Maui to Boston.
From my last experience, it was actually quite painless. Got ahold of an agent within couple mins and got it ticketed within a day. Only issue is the receipt email is in Turkish so you'll have to use Google Translate on it.
