I had seen those trays at the store before but never bought them because I didn’t see the point of them. Now that I see how easy it is to pop them out I’ll have to grab some. Makes for a nice clean transfer! Excited to see the peppers grow up and turn into sauces.
Yeah I’d seen them long before giving them a try as well! They’re also really durable plastic so I think they’ll hold up well compared to other trays I’ve used and at $9 they’re not too expensive. I’m excited too! Happy for it to be growing season again.
You are going to love that tray from Burpee. I got one a couple years ago right before winter when they were on clearance. Wish I had bought ten of them.
Because of the work of Joseph loft house I was inspired to grow a sweet pepper landrace. The genetic lottery is always a surprise and the different flavors that have came out of this project, I didn’t even know was possible from a pepper. Happy growing this year! 👍🏼
Just looked him up - super interesting stuff! I’m really into native plants, so the idea of having hyper local pepper varieties is pretty fascinating. Best of luck growing this season!
Growing some datil (as in dat ill / dat-l-do-it) and big jims this year... I hear the datils like a little more free draining soil... first year growing em in the Tampa Bay area... originally from middle Tennessee myself though... GBO! 🍊
Makes sense to me! They sound really similar to my fataliis and they like the well drained soil too. Apparently Florida is the place to grow them so I’m sure you’ll do well! Best of luck with your plants this year. I’m a Clemson guy myself but I’m actually about to do some food science stuff at UT for my hot sauce. Either way I’m orange through and through!
I used just the burpee organic seed starting by mix. In hindsight I would have added a bit of perlite to it for drainage because I got a little algae on top of some, but overall it worked well!
Do you bottom water the seeds right after you plant them? or is the moistened seed starting mix enough water to get them started? Thank you oh and how long did you soak your seeds?
Hi! The moistened mix plus the humidity cover should be enough moisture for the seeds to germinate. After they germinate and you remove the cover you’ll probably have to start watering them. I soaked these for about 16 hours it was overnight. Soaked them in just water, btw I meant to mention that.
Hi! I just get stuff from a local nursery. I know pepper geek did a good comparison on bagged stuff on his channel recently if you want to check that video out!

craigs grande jalapeno is such an amazing variety! so productive and such nice big peppers!
Awesome to hear! I can’t wait

It’s pretty slick! They’re very affordable already so finding them on sale would be a steal
I have that exact seed tray, worked great for my superhots this year!
Nice! Glad it worked for you too. Not sure how long these have been around but I had been excited to try one ever since I saw them
Your plants look healthy, good luck
Thank you! Good luck to you as well this season

@@jackspepperpatch I can see it now a jackspepperpatch original variety.

Aji lemon drop are great peppers, I will def be doing more this year.
I think I’ll grow them every year now. Great tasting peppers!
Have you ever considered using DEF fluid for nitrogen sups? its really cheap but I would like to see it tested
Those are off to a great start! Do you mind sharing your starting soil mix?

I also made a Tabasco sauce last year, I still have a bottle and half left 😅
how do you remove the extra seedlings from the starting tray to put into the red cups without damage?
Are you in a zone where your last frost is late? I started my peppers in February
Lol you thought you had me for a minute there.
😎🤙❤️🔥 can you do a test with Organic Rev?
lol. I effed up and started mine two weeks ago. Zone 4B. I think mine are screwed.
Nah they’ll be okay! Are you really far north? If you’ve got long daylight hours I bet they catch up. You’ll still get plenty of peppers regardless.

Do you cut the tops off so they can produce more peppers? Just wondering if that works .
I normally don’t prune the plants at all!
What type of potting soil would you recommend

@@jackspepperpatch Thanks so much! Love your channel. Subscribed!
Nevermind I rewatched 😂
great trays but keep them away from the sun, over time, they get brittle.
Good to know! Thanks
