    Guy's I hope you had someone check the transom and stringers, I have an 89 same boat it's a fishing machine. I had to replace the transom I did a liquid one, I didn't want to cut into the hull itself. I live in Jersey and take it 80 miles out to the canyon. Good luck,safe navigation and following seas, fair weather

    Nice project boat hope the wood in that boat is good or has been inspected. That is the issue with older Grady's. Transom and stringers up to the cabin.

      We had the same boat. The guy who bought it from us knocked the transome loos by hitting bottom. Asked if we wanted it back. Nope oclock.

      @@theconefamilyadventures4226 Should have been checked before giving over the cash. If it was an issue it would have played a huge factor in negotiation the price. But you said its a project may turn out to be more than you expected. I had 2. Rebuild the stringer, transom and deck then sold.

    Look like it’s in fairly good shape …I’ve see a lot of GW that age that are just rotted out stringers and transoms

    Question!? I own an 88 Grady. It was my first ….didn’t realize how annoying it is to have my transom scuppers below the waterline. Based on your bottom paint I’m assuming yours are too? If so, make sure you have newer bilge pump(s) to account for those not washing out rain off the deck or ocean water splashing in. Mine are above once I plane out, but when stationary they are 1 inch below water line and it’s really annoying because if I have her docked in the rain I have only my bilge pumps to do the dirty work! Love the boat!!!!!

    • @Grady252

      I have a 92 Grady and scuppers are 1/2 under. No problem as long as you have good operable scuppers. I replaced mine with the Stainless with rubber flap and never get water coming back up into the deck, even with 2 very heavy guys while gaffing a fish over the corner. Make sure the scuppers are good and replace if they are the plastic type. Also, more important is make sure to check/replace the scupper drain hoses as if those break, they are the weak link causing lots of boats to sink.
      I replaced my floor drains with Stainless also and new hoses with double clamps.
      If scuppers are below water line, too much weight in the aft. Not sure how those 225 Honda 4 strokes will be for you. Curious to find out how the Cone Family boat sits in the water and if any scupper issues.

      That will be another on the list to check because when we bought it, i believe the bildge was not working.

    • @Grady252
      @Grady252 ปีที่แล้ว

      I also installed a second 2000 gph rule bilge pump and float switch with switch raised a few inches above the primary to serve as a backup. Had to run the 1-1/8" smooth wall bilge hose out the same side as original with a new additional thru hull. Also installed a high water alarm in the bilge with alarm on the helm to let me know if something is going wrong.

    • @theconefamilyadventures4226
      @theconefamilyadventures4226  ปีที่แล้ว

      Very good advice, putting both on the list to add. also redoing the existing scuppers and hoses as well.

      Mine are about 2" under water line and drain fine. rain water and wash down. Bilge hardly ever comes on.

      That's is hard to say, it is all in what a buyer is willing to pay and where you live in the US. We also took them straight to a Honda certified service tech and had them serviced, repaired a few things, and had the entire shift harness assembly replaced. @@mikesolns1364
