2024 The Cone Family - The Twins Journey To Jr Open Water Scuba Certification
They were not having any good luck on visibility for their Scuba certification. The pool session was clear, lol. They went to Blue Grotto for their first set of dive training with about 5-7 ft Viz, then went to Blue Heron Bridge with 1ft of Viz. The basicly got certified in limited visibility diving.
Then to get out on their first boat dive... Sunday afternoon, dive got canceled, Monday afternoon, dive got canceled, finally Tuesday afternoon, they made it.
The water were messed up from a hurricane that came through the previous week. Tuesday, our last day in Southern FL, they finally got on a boat dive.
It was pretty awesome for them. They got their first boat dive, first drift dive, first deep dive, first reef dive, and got to drive the charter boat to the dive site. All thanks to AquaLife Divers in Deerfield FL.

    I remember going to the Boston Boat Show back in 2001 and checking out a brand new GW W/A and being in Quality Control for years I brought along an extendable inspection mirror. The wiring was a rats nest with exposed connections and poor soldering. Next I noticed how thin the hull sides were, I could flex them with my hands! I ended up buying a new Seapro W/A and saved close to $35k ! Great video!

    Is it hard to maintain a salt gallon tank ?

    • @theconefamilyadventures4226
      @theconefamilyadventures4226 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      In my opinion, the smaller salt tanks are harder for me as their levels fluctuate a lot easier. This tank, once it was cycled with the live rock (over 6 months), it started to establish the levels on its own. It got thrown off when we added fish that died. The fish we have in there adapted to our tank (trial and error). To be honest, we dont regularly check this tank nor do regular water changes now. We have made an auto top off with filters to keep the tank full all the time. When we do our water change, we take a hose from the tank to the tub and drain it, then our auto top off system we created fills it from our tank we premix salt from. We clean the front glass and blow off any red algae off the rocks that gets sucked up in the filters. We clean the filter in the sump when it is full of the fish poo and algae.

    Alligator snapping turtle?! Those get massive, and will definitely eat everything in that tank when it's get big enough. Was he wild caught? They can be cool, just be careful letting him cohabitate with your other animals. That enclosure is big, but don't underestimate how big those snappers get. The turtle's shell can become permanently deformed too if it grows up in an enclosure that's too small. I'm really not trying to be mean or disrespectful, it's clear you put a lot of work into that gorgeous paludarium. I'm just a little concerned about the snapping turtle's well being. The box turtle is fine, that tank is a great set up for him.

    • @MikeySkywalker
      @MikeySkywalker 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@theconefamilyadventures4226 Wonderful. What about the snapper? They do grow very slow and they do not need a massive pond. If you live in warm weather, you can keep one in a very small pond. Which will also double as a soft release if you ever want to let it go. Luckily Alligator Snappers have a great hunting technique, so as long as he learns that he will be okay. Good luck. Your setup is amazing, and I am really proud of you and admire you for teaching your kids from a young age to respect and be kind to animals. One of the things I am most grateful to my parents for is teaching me to be gentle, kid and respect life. I will teach my kids the same. • @Exquailibur
      @Exquailibur 8 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @kywalker well it is a reptile, generally animals with feeding strategies like this can easily go back to the wild. Reptiles arent taught so unlike a mammal or bird they can usually adapt to the wild regardless of how long they have spent in captivity. Now that doesnt mean it has no effect their behavior, they might be more sedentary then normal and less afraid of humans. Main issue is they live longer then people and get massive.

    Question!? I own an 88 Grady. It was my first ….didn’t realize how annoying it is to have my transom scuppers below the waterline. Based on your bottom paint I’m assuming yours are too? If so, make sure you have newer bilge pump(s) to account for those not washing out rain off the deck or ocean water splashing in. Mine are above once I plane out, but when stationary they are 1 inch below water line and it’s really annoying because if I have her docked in the rain I have only my bilge pumps to do the dirty work! Love the boat!!!!!

    • @Grady252
      @Grady252 ปีที่แล้ว

      I have a 92 Grady and scuppers are 1/2 under. No problem as long as you have good operable scuppers. I replaced mine with the Stainless with rubber flap and never get water coming back up into the deck, even with 2 very heavy guys while gaffing a fish over the corner. Make sure the scuppers are good and replace if they are the plastic type. Also, more important is make sure to check/replace the scupper drain hoses as if those break, they are the weak link causing lots of boats to sink. I replaced my floor drains with Stainless also and new hoses with double clamps. If scuppers are below water line, too much weight in the aft. Not sure how those 225 Honda 4 strokes will be for you. Curious to find out how the Cone Family boat sits in the water and if any scupper issues.

    • @theconefamilyadventures4226

      I also installed a second 2000 gph rule bilge pump and float switch with switch raised a few inches above the primary to serve as a backup. Had to run the 1-1/8" smooth wall bilge hose out the same side as original with a new additional thru hull. Also installed a high water alarm in the bilge with alarm on the helm to let me know if something is going wrong.

      We had the same boat. The guy who bought it from us knocked the transome loos by hitting bottom. Asked if we wanted it back. Nope oclock.

      @@theconefamilyadventures4226 Should have been checked before giving over the cash. If it was an issue it would have played a huge factor in negotiation the price. But you said its a project may turn out to be more than you expected. I had 2. Rebuild the stringer, transom and deck then sold.

    Quite helpful, I saw many formulas on the web that my Excel just did not accept as valid. As an addition, if your list in column A contains IP ranges ( "incomplete" IP adresses like "192.168" ) Then you want to substitute the null values in your BCDE columns, to a 0 (zero), prior to issue the sort on BCDE. Otherwise it does not look good. So, Ctrl-H (find and replace) on the 4 BCDE columns pre-selected , then search for empty/nothing and replace by 0. Then sort on the 5 columns , choosing BCDE as your 4 level criteria, just like you did.
