his manners man...without hesitance in front of the world right away gives Liz the chair when this was about him...like he stands there like a little boy ...the way he right away moved is so telling of how he was raised...such a gentleman. When he signed autographs he would remember to return the pen to whomever lent it to him. Its in these subconscious acts where the true character reveals itself.

Something that has always broken my heart about this interview is when Michael said after being sad for years he’s finally starting to become happy and then a few months later the allegations hit and many people who were close to him/around him after that said that Michael never really was himself afterwards

As much as oprah Winfrey could be considered a trash interviewer and did obviously make him uncomfortable she knew when to stop from time to time.
Because sometimes Michael was just unlucky with interviewers throught his life.
Martin Bashir really REALLY wanted to know the deal about Michael's father and pressured him really hard he ended up just crying on Cmara where he continued to push him harder saying "what did he beat you with " and Michael crying " why are you doing this to me " in the most shattere tone ever.
Or barabara walters where he was directly asked about being nicknamed Wacko Jacko and other cruel terms where he explained that he has a heart and a feeling that he is a human not an animal she simply said " but you are somewhat eccentric"
Or Diane Sawyer interview with him and Lisa Marie where you can see him physically flinch
Point is..later MJ interviews had some really harsh interviewers
Seph , good luck with your blood pressure.

He always said he liked Brooke but I don't think there was anything more going on between them but friendship. Brooke did say she thought they were closer then than they ever were, Oprah asked him if he went out and who does he date right after, maybe he thought the word "dating" as in just going out, for dinner and stuff, nothing much, so I don't agree he necessarily lied like someone said here, Brooke was a good friend of Michael throughout the years and she said they laughed like 2 kids together, she said she believed Michael suffered from arrested development, here's what she said:
"People talk about his genius, but they didn't really know how polarized his sort of life was, he was extraordinarily talented and genius, and there was an arrasted development, I believe, and he was sort of truncated emotionally as a little kid. He was childlike in many ways." "We were kids together, I think there was an arrasted development to a certain extent with him, but we acted like little kids together and I don't think either one of us in our lives really had the environment to do that safely." "There's this genuine innocence that he has, that he has protected and sheltered himself so much, that that's been maintained."
Brooke also said they had a lot of fun and that Michael was very funny and mischievous, I remember her telling this story, it was a day before Elizabeth's wedding and they tried to sneak in to get a first peak of her dress, they were giggling and everything and they died laughing when they realized Elizabeth was actually sleeping in another room 😂 she said that they remained friends even though they hadn't gone out on their regular dinners as often where they would talk about everything, but they still respected and cared for each other, she said when she had postpartum he sent her flowers ❤ she also said Joe was the devil literally lmao that just by looking at his eyes you could tell, she said he never liked her, maybe because she stood up for Michael and kept Michael away from his control, that he was always mean and after Michael died after taking a drink she had the courage to say right to his face: "you know what, you never even pretended to like me, you were always mean, I never liked you, but you know what, I have to thank you for having your son, because he was my friend." The way she said it was hilarious, NOT in a very kind way 😂😂 you go Brooke!! 👏👏

one thing i took from the whole LN disaster was that Opera was at Neverland. in the LN doc, there was a tragic story involving the Train Station at Neverland. problem is that the Train Station was not constructed at the time it was alleged to have been (there is property permit paper work to prove that). when Opera threw her support behind LN and sat with the two accusers in the post interview, she should have had mental alarms go off at that fact. she was at Neverland in 1993 and there was no Train Station. it wasn't constructed until June of 1995. the abuse was alleged to have taken place in the late 1980's. 1 + 1 = 2. . . they're lying. as a professional Journalist, she should have came to that conclusion herself. but she did not. and when that fact was sighted and disproven by fan research, she STILL defended the accusers claims. "Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday. . .it is all the same." (Opera Winfrey) she was there then and had video recorded proof that there was no Train Station and she still supported the doc. she did not do her job. modern journalism in a nutshell.

Seph I'm so happy you enjoyed this interview, I was a bit worried you know I see many people complaining, I think this was very important, and in my opinion is a good interview to recommend to people who are new to him or who believe the weird rumors, that one question about him being a virgin though was really intrusive and out of line but at least she laughed with him during certain parts, compared to later interviews she wasn't nowhere near that bad, I get asking these questions given the amount of speculation that was going on at that time and there were many things he had never spoken about to the public for example his skin disease (outside of his book I think), and we even got to hear about the Heal The World Foundation, the problem later on is that they continued to question him about his skin and his appearance even though he had already spoken about it before, and less and less about his artistry, no wonder he hated interviews, for example that 1997 Barbara Walters interview, Barbara sounds soo rude and condescing talking about his looks "well the way you look and dress invites attention", and Michael still super sweet and kind saying that he is a human being, and that 2003 Martin Bashir interview is the worst of them all, he kept questioning Michael about his looks, being downright disrespectful, his childhood, which he knew was a sensitive topic for Michael and he didn't care, he kept asking "what else he used to beat you with?", at one point Michael covered his face and cried and he asked "why are you doing this to me?", and it's just heartbreaking 😭😭

This was in February 1993, just in that month Michael and Lisa Preysler have their first date at a mutual friend's house and they started their friendship. I think that's why he says he's dating Brooke And with someone else. About the Moonwalk MJ once said that for several days a street dancer taught him how to do it and he modified it and perfected it and when he went on tour with his brothers he didn't want to do it because he wasn't sure it was perfect, finally the night of Motown's 25th anniversary arrived and that was when the whole world saw the Moonwalk for the first time. Exciting and incredible moment!!! And yes, Seph you should react to the video Given to me.

He did not say he was dating someone else. Oprah asked him if he has ever been in love with Brooke and he said yes and with another girl, which means; not only with Brooke during his life. Seph paused and was talking over it that's why you didn't hear it. And if he was having anything with Lisa which I don't think he was that early but if he did he could have because I think Brooke and Michael were just very good friends who went out and as Brooke said "were just like little kids together".

At that time Michael was dating Lisa Marie.. the "another girl" he was in love with.. but because it was completely secret at the time, I think he just said Brooke to misdirect the press. Brooke was in a relationship with someone else at the time, and she was quite cross with him that he said he that.

    • @dreamfaller6372
      @dreamfaller6372 4 หลายเดือนก่อน +3

Yep. I think Brook was just a safe answer for him. Everyone already knew they had gone out from time to time, she'd gone with him to the grammys etc. I think he knew that any person he mentioned would immediately get a whole lot of attention, paparazzi outside their house etc. That would be a lot to handle for most people and probably not something he wanted to put on someone who hadn't given him permission first, or maybe with Lisa where the relationship was just beginning to develop. There is a reason he was always very private about his romantic life. Any partner or date he announced to the world would have their life turned upside down from one moment to the next.

She got to tour Neverland, got to sit next to the King for an hour, got to hug him, got to see MJ sing, dance and beatbox for free. And she asked him if he's a Virgin or not 🤦. What kind of awkward question is that?? That Diane Sawyer is no different. She asked MJ and his wife Lisa if they have had sex🤦. What's wrong with those women?? They had time with the King of Pop which all journalists and fans were dying to have but all they did was making him awkward in front of the whole world.

Elizabeth was such a good loyal friend! I watched an interview and they asked her about her childhood she said she felt lonely, same as Michael, many of his friends were once child stars, he could connect with them, that's why he was also good friends with Macaulay Culkin, they had so much fun at Neverland, you need to watch some footage of that! Macaulay began acting at age 5, Michael too, they had many things in common, Macaulay later came out saying that his father was abusive and was "a bad man", he was really overworked and exploited for money during his childhood, so much so that after his parents divorced when he was 15, he legally decided to take his parents' names off of his trust fund and found an executor to protect his finances and was able to secure his fortune, he then could go to high school and quit acting for 10 years, his father was so bad that Macaulay now has a son and he won't even let him see his father, he was always thankful for Michael for being a true friend and providing him an escape and a space for him to just be a kid and have fun and still defends him to this day, Corey Feldman said the same thing, that many powerful people in the industry abused him but not Michael, he said he went to the police and gave them the actual names of the real abusers but they were only trying to find something on Michael, which they couldn't find, Macaulay even testified in Michael's defense, if anything, Michael wanted to help and protect children, not harm them.

It’s interesting with Brooke he was more interested in her than she was of him I think. They’d go see each other and I think he took that as them romantically going on dates but she saw it more of a friendship it seems like and so it never advanced beyond that and I think supposedly she made an advance towards him when they were younger but at the time he chickened out and regretted it later on.
As for him being childlike my own interpretation of it is that it was a complex mixture of things as to why he was the way that he was and feel free to disagree with me but for starters he loved anything that took you into the world of imagination and that helped you find wonderment to escape reality (no doubt bc of what he’d gone through, due to his isolation he must’ve liked that escapism and bc he lacked that as a child with other kids) which is most likely why he loved movies & reading so much aside from learning and I think he also understood that you needed to embrace the word through the eyes of a child in order to find his level of creativity in music and short film and he’s mentioned kids, nature and animals are where he got his inspiration from outside of other artists. On top of that I think he was compensating on what he missed out on and enjoyed giving those experiences to other children knowing they get to experience it considering he didn’t have that and perhaps he was even living it vicariously through them. Finally he took his faith seriously and as we’ve seen he was a gentle, kind and humble soul and I think he saw the purity of them as one of the highest examples in life to follow in how to be which I think is incredibly wise and you can see that in how he comes across throughout his life (he just radiated goodness and purity imo even if he was just as flawed as we all are) Plus I think he was just incredibly paternal and loved the idea of a domestic life and to me he wouldn’t have gotten half of the crap he did over any of it if he’d been a woman (gender expectations and bias I hate it) & people didn’t associate his changing looks with him seeming ‘creepy’ etc.
The public and tabloids man they truly didn’t understand how intelligent, caring and enlightened this man was. 💕✨

the thing is, some might say that when he was alive they felt oblugated or had some other motives other than honesty (foolish, but you know how people are)
but let me tell you, i had to honor of meeting some of his closest of friends and life long work partners who later on also became friends with him... i met them through seminars and conventions - and to this day, and he we are a week before it's his 15 death annivarsery and in my opinion the begining of the end of the world and good in it (i know i sound dramatic but this is how i feel)... those people, and some are very macho like men who - i assume, won't be the type to gush and cry over a person that often...
but when it comes to Michael, they still talk about him with a complete awe, and without fail while crying... you can see how deeply they loved him and how deeply he touched them.
    that is a given

It seems to me as if she has set the stage for these child abuse allegations.... like MJ is really not interested in women. We later learned that she was friends with J. Epstein. I have never seen this interview and didn't know much about MJ's philanthropy. Thanks for this reaction.

I've enjoyed watching this interview with you. It's been a while since I'm too angry with OW to watch it, really. I feel like it's a part missing though..? Like, isn't it in this interview MJ talks on what 'art' is..? I might be completely mixing it up, though. It's been a while, as said.
However, I must object to you continously calling Michael Jackson "a big child". I do get that it's a way to describe someone that's not to be taken litterally: "I thought that was really funny, yeah I'm just a big child really" or "I'm just a big child [at heart]." But please remember that this is Michael Jackson we're talking about - the most sensationalized, objectified and analyzed (in that order) person on Earth. Alot of people think MJ litterally is just a big child, as in having an intellectual variation or a developement-/maturety disorder. This has at best just been said to do some lazy categorization from a pseudo-psychological perspective, at worst made to be an explanation to MJ being guilty of CSA.
Michael Jackson had a stunted childhood, was brought up in a very child-appreciative family where also the teachings of Jesus in the Bible were taken very litterally. Creativity is often - like, through the ages - connected to childlike features, since children are able to interpret the reality differently than someone who's already been told what to see, hear and think about stuff. Some also say, in a more spiritual way, that children are purer/more open channels of creation, as in devine creativity. It's said that geniuses from Mozart to Einstein had childlike qualities to them, non-normative for an adult of their time-periods and cultures.
Through all of these factors, Michael had an easier time connecting to their inner child and refused to be bullied into hiding it or stopping it. Thus, MJ had an easier time connecting to other children and vice versa. MJ often composed from energy channelled to them, from this interaction. Inspiration.
Michael would themself ask "What age would you be, if you didn't know what age you were?", and by that pointing out age isn't chronological/linear. (This line of thought is wisely expressed but far from invented by MJ.) The only time I've heard MJ answer the same question, the answer was "10". How important that is, I don't know since the answer might have varied with context and situation. In Moonwalk, as an example, MJ wrights they sometimes feel like an 80-year-old for having had such a long career and lived so intensely since a the age of 5. However, 10 was just before super-stardome would kick-in, so maybe it's relevant for some scenarios and aspects. It was also this part of MJ, MJ had to speak up on, time and time again. Feeling like an old soul is not made out to be as >>problematic>> in our culture, as feeling like a child-like soul. (And feeling like the chronological age one is, never has to be explained.)
Also, in this interview and at other times, MJ refers to Neverland as a place built to bring out the inner child of people, children of all ages, the magic of childhood. To heal, to create, to balance out, to nurture. That's also the metaphor of Neverland in the Peter Pan saga. This also points to MJ completely understanding that we all age, grow and mature into adults, but this means we keep ourselves as children on the inside. How we deal with that, often affect how we deal with life.
NON of this, however, mean that MJ was stuck at the level of a 10-year-old. It simply means that the PERSPECTIVE of a 10-year-old often was close at reach to Michael AND that Michael would reach for it without apologizing. As OW said, "a child did not put this together" talking about Neverland. A child did not have the business-savy to buy the ATV catalogue, to manage and rejuvinate a career over and over for decades or to pick out the best of talents in their fields to help create whatever project or idea MJ wanted to blow life into. A child did not have well-read and interesting conversations and sharings with leaders, intellectuals and creative people from all over the world, with people with experiences from all walks of life. A child did not help protect numerous children from the dangers of being a childstar, step in as a parental figure to children in need of such nor raise three very well-functioning children of their own. Michael Jackson was very much an adult - a young adult, an established aduld and a middle-life adult - at the same time as being "a big kid." This is important.

Something I was surprised to find was that bubbles is still alive. MJ unfortunately couldn't keep him in the 2000s because he was starting to get at the age where she was getting more aggressive. Michael was worried that bubbles would harm his newborn at the time, so michael had to put him in a habitat to let him be properly cared for.

So here are some notes for u :
1✓ this interview gained the most views all over the world at that time✨✨✨
2✓ I recommend you really to watch the superbowl show and "give in to me" music video ... They will blow your mind 🪄🪄
3✓ When he said "now, I'm very happy" it really broke my heart because just after 7 months from this moment , he had the most horrible experience of his life 💔💔
4✓ for me this one of the most wonderful interviews of Michael.. he talked about his skin disorder for the first time ever ... I also didn't that weird question she asked him because it's a very personal question u know
5✓ And yeah i got mad at Oprah too , because he trusted her with his pure heart and all she did was to stap him in the back😡😡 ... Like so many interviewers later on
    Tell me what u think

And then divorced. And then had a real action shop with an unknown surrogate mother. And had a child named bigi (aka prince Micheal II and blanket)
