    Another video loaded with great tips. My favorite was recognizing when the silver was annealed. I had never heard of watching for it to look clean when you swept the flame over the oxidized silver. Thank you.

    Is there a chart to know how long the wire should be for various ring sizes?

    I appreciate you so much for putting these videos together, Melissa. I cannot wait to try these projects. Still gathering tools and supplies along with reading Alan’s book. Thank you for your willingness to share your experience/knowledge and teach a newbie like me!

    Perfect video. I’ve been wanting to know to get the ends of the twisted wire from separating. ❣️

    What if u pound it flat? Size change?

    • @MelissaMuir
      @MelissaMuir  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Anne Darr yes. It would
      Change size if you were to pound it flat on the ring mandrel.

    Nice video, Melissa!
    When you used 61mm, how would you adjust that for different ring sizes? I mean, obviously, the overall ring size is whatever it is, but how would you determine the other lengths you mentioned if you were going to make a smaller ring? A larger one?

    • @MelissaMuir
      @MelissaMuir  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      wendyannh in the book I believe we make it something like 12 mm smaller than the size we are after as the wire will stretch. I will have to get the book out and look up the correct value though.

    Beautiful ring. At 10:47 what is that wood piece you are cutting on ? I am having a real brain fart moment and just got my new work bench and want to get one of those.. And is that a jewelers saw ? Thanks for sharing.

    • @MelissaMuir
      @MelissaMuir  6 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      It is called a bench pin. There are a number of styles out there, but it doesn't really matter which one you get as you will alter it to fit your job and needs as you go. And yes, it is a jewelers saw. It is a Green Lion saw and you can get them through Otto Frei.

    Melissa, I was looking at the list for the silver solder you use, is not there. Could you tell me if it was medium or soft solder? Thank you and it was a really nice ring👍.

    • @MelissaMuir
      @MelissaMuir  6 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Thank you. I use hard silver solder for about 97% of my projects.
