I had fallen off the Pig Destroyer wagon years ago....currently I am still listening to this stream and I gotta admit, it sounds like they are back to bringing the goods, so far. Yay!
Yeah but half of this is Blake Harrison’s noise. I love pig destroyer but after Harvey left and the more members they got, they slowly became boring and like every other run of the mill metal band.
Ever since the punishing "Prowler In The Yard" album laid siege to my being in my formative years I have been a Pig Destroyer junkie. Their patented brand of pulverizing thrash infused rhythmic warfare, propulsive riffs and blistering drumming remains delightfully corrosive. JR Hayes, as always, paints portraits of humanity at its most transgressive and depraved. Blown away!
Not gonna lie, if Pig Destroyer was going to do this experimental noise stuff I wish they’d split it up like Terrifyer and Natasha. Can’t help but feel like we got half an album here.
Not gonna lie i wish pig destroyer would take out those experimental noise parts of songs like natasha and mass and volume, make them slightly tighter and make a whole sludge album out of it. It would be fire.
i like it when bands change it up. people keep hating on their album head cage and shit and shit. i mean if you want to hear prowler on the yard just fucking listen to that album. i've really enjoyed checking out how this band has taken risks and trying out different ideas. I really like how this album has turned out though. solid through and through and i really enjoy the slightly raw production. most metal nowdays is far too clean and pretty sounding.
I don't understand why so many shit on Head Cage. It definitely says something that their most streamed song on Spotify by far is Army of Cops, a track off that album...

I dont see (hear) what all of the complaints are about. Theres truly something unique about a band that plays extreme music, yet embraces diversity at the same time. I love all of PXDX stuff, whether it be this, 'Natasha', 'Terrifyer' or 'Prowler in the Yard.'
This arrived in the mail today. For some reason I almost listened here. On a phone. Nice try technology. Looking forward to listening tommorrow. New Faceless Burial to spin as well.
I want the vinyl but it's $50+ CAD pre-tax on Bandcamp :/ and while I enjoy the whole thing album, I don't see much replay value for myself in the latter half. For now I think I'll save the money and keep my fingers crossed for some more good metal releases this year
@@themcrib7920 2020 has given us a lot of shit but we've got tons of good music. The record is good but you can live without it. You should check some Canadian retailers. There appears to be retail copies on discogs. Just in the USA.

Terrifyer and prowler are about equal for me. Depends on how I’m feeling, phantom limb is different but I still like it. Book burner and headcage are blehh
The actual grind songs are decent but jr Hayes vocals are completely shot. They sampled the long scream from scatology homework in the Calvary. Like I said terrifyer, prowler and 38 counts of battery blew my mind when I heard them but they should just start something else imo. I’ll always love them to death though, I have the face of Bobby Steele from prowler in the yard tattooed on my arm.
I do. Not crazy about all the experimental noise stuff, and takes up more than half the disc’s running time, too. I’ve always been a PD fanboy until, and including Book Burner.

Pig destroyer currently sucks compared to these bands that are still capable of making good Metal albums, Pig Destroyer is not even capable of not making a good Ep.
