    I’ve noticed when Eve speaks in German she looks at the camera a lot less! People always used to say when I spoke in Mandarin that I would never make eye contact cuz my eyes were always looking past them or around the room like I was looking for the right words to use next and they could see my brain working behind my eyes! 😅

      I used to do this so often in my Fremch lessons that my French teacher used to call me out for it. I was just really shy in French. I learnt German in Years 8 and 9 but my school stopped offering German as a GCSE to us. It is a shame because I preferred German to French but I am now learning German during the lockdown.

      I ate spaghetti yesterday. I've eaten spaghetti yesterday ist grammitkalisch falsch.
      Und ist Deutsch immer noch eine schwere Sprache?

    I’m so impressed at how seemingly easy it is for you to properly express yourself in german and your accent is quite good ! I’ve been studying german at school and uni for 10+ years and still struggle to form a proper sentence when I’m speaking but that’s definitely due to my lack of practise, I know I have a decent knowledge of the language I just need to work on it but it’s not an easy one to learn and feel confident speaking in

      watch german tv shows/movies/listen to german music. if you're doing gcse, i'd say watch with english subtitles and german audio but if you want you can have both in german. i'd recommend druck (a web series) and dark (on netflix)

      Well, nowadays it is boring. Really fascinating was the typing of ALDI's cashiers before scanners were introduced. I think they should have tried to get in Guiness World Record list. However, you get used to it and actually the paying process is only small part of supermarket vist. The advantage is that it is really fast and food is rather cheap compared to other stuff.

    Love your German! I have just one suggestion, because idk if you're aware of it :) so you said 'mir geht es ganz gut' but the subtitles were 'i' m really good' soo, in German you say 'mir geht es ganz gut' if you want to express something like "i'm fine" meaning like an average mood with nothing exceptionally good or bad. If you want to say everything is going great etc. you can say "mir gehts richtig gut!" :)

    I can totally understand you when you said you feel like you have no personality when speaking German.😭 I am a German and English major and last year I spent one semester in Austria for the purpose to improve my speaking skills. I speak German quite good but not as good to understand jokes or to tell humorous stories and similar stuff like that. But with time I am sure it will get better. I recently started studying German idioms which I think will be of an enormous help, so would highly recommend you to give them a try. Ich wünsche dir viel Erfolg.💕

      Well, there are no German jokes or humour anyway - so it is no problem. We just might know some small idea of irony except Monday to Sunday. By the way: Never mix up Austria with Germany. Especially if it is about ski racing and football this might be a deadly mistake. Greetings from a German in Vienna

By the time I can think of the words I need the conversation has always moved on 10/15mins 😭😂 also it made me realise how specific British humour can be and it really doesn’t transfer into another language.

    Can't speak or understand any german whatsoever but this was so great to watch!! I can't believe I've been watching Eve since I was in year 9, that was like 4.5 years ago omg. I'm so proud of what you have achieved Eve, and even now when I'm doing a complete different degree, I still find your videos inspiring, entertaining and just fun!!!❤

    I did German for GCSE and was so surprised how much I understood without needing to read the subtitles. You're really good at languages. Really thought you were fluent in German from this video.

      As a german she sounds pretty much fluent. Quite heavy accent and the vocabulary seems a bit limited, but grammar is nearly perfect.Accent and vocabulary will get better once she gets more comfortable speaking (so basically practice)

    Completely agree that it's harder to express yourself in a foreign language! When I went on exchange to Germany, I always felt like I came across a little bit cold and quiet, but it was just because I wasn't 100% sure how to express what I was feeling / thinking in German, or even to speak fast enough to keep up with the conversation. But it definitely gets better with time, be patient and kind to yourself ❤ Dein Deutsch is wirklich super, muss ich sagen 🇩🇪 Bitte gib uns mehr Updates in den nächsten Monaten! Viel Erfolg Eve xoxo

    Ich finde es immer interessant, wie andere Nicht-Muttersprachler Deutsch sprechen. Ich bin sehr neidisch auf deinen Akzent. Ich bin Amerikanerin, hab Germanistik auch studiert, und lebe schon seit ein paar Jahren in DE aber man hört bei mir immer noch einen starken Akzent. Ich finde für Engländer ist es viel einfacher den deutschen Akzent zu beherrschen, denn ihr Dialekt ist ähnlicher und nicht so auffällig. Freue mich drauf, mehr Videos von dir auf deutsch zu sehen. :)

      @msv 0598 Danke! Ja mit "R" hab ich Probleme aber zum Glück kann man das mit Übungen verbessern. Bei mir ist es so, dass ich zu viel vom hinten und vom Palatum sprechen und auf Deutsch spricht man von ganz vorne mit den Lippen. Das merke ich schon aber wenn man viel und schnell redet, kann man nicht immer so viel auf jedes kleines Detail aufpassen und dann kommt der Akzent manchmal raus.

    • @msv-yu9ui
      @msv-yu9ui 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@meggs762 Ich verstehe. Es wird dir wohl kein Trost sein, aber ein Akzent klingt oft auch ganz schön. Hauptsache die Leute sprechen auch mit dir auf Deutsch und wechseln nicht zu Englisch, wenn sie merken dass du aus Amerika kommst. :D Und dass du die Sprache schnell sprechen kannst ist auch ein gutes Zeichen, da kannst du ruhig stolz sein. Gibt es auch Wörter die du gar nicht oder einfach nicht richtig aussprechen kannst? Hat dir dein Germanistik - Studium dabei geholfen Deutsch zu lernen, oder war es mehr die Kommunikation in Deutschland?

    • @meggs762
      @meggs762 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      msv 0598 Ich werde nie das Wort Verführerisch aussprechen können. 😂 Ich find durch mein Studium verstehe ich die Grammatik schon besser als viele Muttersprachler aber um fließend sprechen zu können, muss man eine längere Zeit in dem Land leben

      @lilian8803 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Deine Grammatik ist wirklich richtig richtig gut! An der Aussprache muss logischerweise noch ein bisschen geübt werden (aber trotzdem super verständlich), aber wenn du so zwei/drei/vier Monate viel deutsch sprichst und hörst, dann kommt das von ganz von alleine. Der Wortschatz auch :D

      Aaah, I get that in Spain all the time!
      I'm literally half Spanish and have been speaking the language since I started learning to talk, but I'm apparently just so pale and British-looking (and shy) that people switch straight to English.
      That magically stops when I'm out with my very Spanish-looking relatives!

    Hi Eve! I absolutely love the content you create on TH-cam. You are very motivational and inspiring! I just wanted to let you know that I got my GCSEs on Thursday and I received all 8s and 9s! I watched your videos so much during Years 10 and 11 (and I still do), so I just wanted to let you know because you are like a TH-cam sister to me!
