Instead of using a layer as the background I usually just use the clone stamp tool and make a clean background behind the building, then I just apply that to the moving track so it stays with it and has a cleaner look. Either way works tho cause I loved ur idea of doing it this way
Great Video. Thanks for showing us how to do it. I have a question what do you do if your objects (buildings) are white? How do you remove the sky when it is grey. Any advice?
Dont get me wrong, im trying to understand the reason for using Mocha at all in this? I imagine you could do the same effect by just masking or rotoing the building out normally? Does it need to be 3d tracked in order to look right?
Hey good question, it depends on the clip you end up using. In each video, i try to use different techniques. When it comes to rotoscoping and tracking you generally always get better results in Mocha.
I didn't knew this method !!! I did the same effect with Photoshop but it was a still shot !!! Thnx alot !! When are u gng to make a breakdown video of Erik Norway cinematic video !!! Hope u will break it down ♥️💯
I think you kinda made it little complex. It’s not that complex to get this effect in After Effects. But yeah, these informations can be helpful for other footages. So yeah, thank you so much 😊
Absolutely, you can track a mask in Ae. The reason I use is Mocha is it is 100x more accurate for complex tracks. So as your scene gets more complex you will struggle and spend more time tracking in Ae. I don’t particularly like mochas interface but I’m all about speed not aesthetics. Hope that helps.
When I click "create AE masks" in mocha it doesn'y give me transform controls for the masked object but the whole video layer.....any ideas why this would happen? great tutorial though!
Its a good tutorial but only really for the specific video you are doing. If I were to try this on a different video I would have trouble with replacing backgrounds that are not the type of sky you had.
You have 2 options here, 1) I mention in the video, is to do a rotoscope of the object. 2) The other option is to use the content aware fill to remove object. There are many different scenarios but these should cover most. Hope that helps
In the tutorial, you set the position at the 1s mark of the tower (in the upright position), then went to about 1.7s and positioned the tower below the church (and then moved its layer behind the church). But when you played the video, the church popped-up, rather than descending behind??? Did you reverse the keyframe animation to get that to work?
Hey, yes when you watch very closely I create a second keyframe just to record the position and then quickly switch back to the first and drag it down. Eitherway the first keyframe should be below the tower and the second will be up the top. Hope that helps
@@FlatPackFX haha great video man, i got a kick out of this comment. Someone made a compilation of everytime I said REALLY in a video recently. 'Actually' subscribed 🤘
Your making video method is not good for learning people in the parts where you always interrupt the video just to show us your face instead of simply keeping explaining while you work.

Great Video. Thanks for showing us how to do it. I have a question what do you do if your objects (buildings) are white? How do you remove the sky when it is grey. Any advice?
Why don’t you use simply Rotoscope for masking the tower ?
awesome!!!
perfect
finally! thank you!
Brother Kepp it up!
Thanks man
Actually I actually like this video.
the extract effect deletes the whole building and not just the sky. What should i do?
you doing great job, please make tutorials about how to do vfx in your videos

I'm getting two lines in the graph editor instead of a curve and I can't figure out how to fix that. Can someone please help
Orrrr can we just use content-aware fill?
Definitely an option if your clip allows it, otherwise there is rotobrush 2 as well

Got more Breakdowns to come.

Is it possible to do this without using mocha? Mocha is for tracking and masking which I can also do in ae itself right?

How about the growing sound effects?
Used a gear sound and bell effect I got online.
it is hard to use the extract tool for the blue sky even though there is no cloud.. any other option aside from extract and photoshop
Sure you can use a color keyer, luma matte or roto brush tool. All of these would also work.
I hate Mocha, my brain hurts looking at its interface
did ya try cappucino? :|
@@UtopiaTimes hehe yeeee boi
you should have add flag part ! its incompleted!!
Why we couldn’t just use retro brush to mask the tower and then duplicate the video and just animate the tower without tracking !?
Can u make star wars ship exploding plz
I am trying to follow along with you in after effect 2017 is that possible?
Yes just use the mask and track in Ae instead of Mocha.
@@FlatPackFX ok thanks very much i appreciate you taking the time to respond.
How do you do that subscribe and like animation
Very cool kiddo

Make sure your looking at the mask sub menu and not on the upper menu of the layer properties.

@@FlatPackFX cool, thank you. Just wondering how you made it work.
lol, in russian language MOCHA sounds like a "pee" in england
Would be nice if creators put in the title "MOCHA AE" instead just "AE". I don't have this plug-in, so it's worthless for me. Kind regards
A free version of mocha is available in AE.
Mocha (without the AE) is the plug in you need to pay for. Mocha AE comes default with Ae. If you have Ae, you have Mocha AE.
Give me explanation A.E.V.2018
Yes there will be a few things different, just use the mask and track in Ae instead of Mocha
I love these tutorials, but the amount of times you say "actually" is kind of ruining it 😅
Cheers Shervin for the feedback... I don't even hear myself saying it! haha
