front wishbone happened to me ...luckily just as i pulled onto my driveway - got out the car... wheel had 15 degrees of camber lol! I got very lucky as i'd been shoeing the car a number of times with my kid in the front seat harnessed up - i'm stunned it didn't give out then. they are a recall item by Subaru apparently - a bunch of cars had to be called in and they refitted stronger items. I had mine replaced with STI front wishbones and links - much stronger overall but a new OEM will last a good number of years!
They're so dangerous 😳 So glad we saw ours while we did, we found out they were a recall just after we bought a replacement. Thankfully they weren't too expensive but I think they definitely need swapping out for the aluminium STI ones at some point.
@@LeadFootash23 yeah i had mine swapped over - made a difference as the castor got adjusted (wheel sits further forward now). great work tho man - you dont sound far from me (warrington based myself) and i visit 3 sisters from time to time - be great to catch up and check your car out :) ant
Yeah very lucky escape I think 😅 Turns out it's a common problem and they actually recalled it. Only happened on the wagons because the rest used aluminium arms. Yeah looking forward to it mate, it's turned into a much bigger job since this video but should hopefully get everything sorted by the end of this week 🤞 Is your car all good to go?
@@LeadFootash23 should be… funnily enough I was thinking about doing the brake fluid on mine. Need to change the coolant and oil but should be good. Fresh set of AR-1s are ready to rip.
Yeah a little bit but to be fair I did have that wheel off a month ago and I didn't notice it then and gave it a pretty good check over. I think its probably gone from the inside out so the outside might not have looked so bad until I had that loud clunk a few days before which I think was it probably snapping.
@@LeadFootash23 yeah true I always use my regular mot guy and he's sound he knows I take good care of my motors so if he spots out he will show me and then knows if I see it then it plays on my mind and gets what it needs lol but he doesn't give you all these daft advisors for stupid stuff he just mentions got instance bulbs not as orange as it should be ect plus it's always good to know these guys.
@@DavesInHisGarage yeah I have a place like that too. It always makes MOT a little less daunting. A lot of places see a modified car and they'll just go absolutely mad on it so it's nice going somewhere that has a bit of sympathy and understanding 😂
