- I tried Gordon Ramsay's Beef Wellington, one of his most famous dishes.
Gordon Ramsay's Bread Street Kitchen is a popular restaurant in London serving a premium British menu. It now has a branch in the Atlantis resort in Dubai, where I was staying so I took the opportunity to find out if this beef wellington of his is really worthy of its legendary status.
My waiter was from Sri Lanka. I've noticed that there are many Sri Lankans working in Dubai, especially in customer-facing roles. As Sri Lankans have a well deserved reputation for incredible hospitality it isn't surprising.
I went into Bread Street thinking about a two-course lunch but I didn't take much convincing by the waiter to go for three.
The Short Ribs that I had as a starter were incredible. The meat was tender and seared on the outside with a crispy and intensely sweet glaze.
The Beef Wellington was as good as I expected. My knife just sank through the striploin steak as I went to cut it and there was almost no chewing required. It came with a marrow bone sauce but it wasn't needed, the flavour of the beef was so rich.
The wellington was served on a bed of truffle mash which I think must be 50% cream, it was so creamy and delicious and pairs with the wellington absolutely perfectly.
My dessert was an Apple Crumble Tart. I've had apple crumble many times as it was a regular dessert in our house growing up but I'd never had it inside a tart before. I guess this was like a combination of apple crumble and apple tart. It was lovely but my mother makes a better apple crumble, sorry Gordon!

If you noticed any ghosting in the video, it's because in my original footage the lights on the ceiling were flickering massively. I don't usually run into this problem as my GoPro is set up with X/50 shutter speed and filming at 50 frames per second as I'm always in countries where the electricity supply is at 50hz but for some reason the lights in this restaurant seemed to be running at 60hz or something else.
I had to put my footage through a de-flicker filter and it kinda faded the colours and made some ghosting when there was any fast movement but the original footage was completely unwatchable so this is still a massive improvement.
Again this restaurant was playing copyrighted music but having a lav mic close to my mouth helps a lot in this regard as my voice is louder and the background noise is lower. If I had used a mic attached to the GoPro or the internal mic then the music would have been clear enough for TH-cam to detect it.
I'm happy I was able to make a decent vlog despite the obstacles and I'm happy that I was able to share a delicious meal with you guys.

Sri Lanka waiter definitely a chill person. Once you have something in common they talk non stop.
"No matter where I am, no matter what I do, no matter who I'm with, your man enjoys himself". This attitude towards life and travel that Dale reflects in his videos is the reason why I am sure many people consume his content so enthusiastically. You can see that he is genuinely having fun most of the time and he is also not hesitant to point out anything he dislikes. That level of genuineness is way better than certain other travel vloggers who sugarcoat everything, suck up to every one they meet, and only say nice things about whatever country they visit. As your man would say; "ya' bloody posers can do one".

This guy just woke up to treat himself to the most amazing Beef Wellington all alone. Only he wasn't alone, we was there with all of us and he knew it.

Thanks for the recommendation Dale, I’m a fellow Scot. Im in Dubai playing football over here and I somehow stumbled across your videos only a couple of days ago and your video reminded me because I totally forgot that Gordon Ramsay had a restaurant here. I was feeling a little down after arriving in Dubai because of personal stuff happening in my life but after watching your videos and coming to Gordon Ramsay Bread street I’m feeling completely uplifted. Just had the beef Wellington and with Vaji, the same server, what a nice guy. I ordered the cheesecake and the chocolate fondant, however they also gave me a complementary sticky toffee pudding. All 3 desserts were amazing, but my favourite was definitely the chocolate fondant , the beef Wellington was delicious. I was also served by Dilani because Vaji’s shift finished and I stayed for over two hours, Dilani was also very friendly and gave me some helpful recommendations for places to go see and brought me some complimentary tea, which was also delicious. I chose to sit outside, I arrived at 5pm and stayed until 7pm being able to watch the sun go down and enjoy the outdoor evening feel was also very cool, and i would definitely recommend this place to anyone who is coming to Dubai and especially if you are Gordon Ramsey fan as the food is top quality. Such a great experience.

A three course meal at a restaurant of one of the world's finest chef having had like 16 Michelin Stars in the past is totally worth the money. I really like the extensive review about the food though. What amazes me is the price of beef Wellington itself was like 80 percent of the total bill. The short ribs, coke and dessert seems quite reasonably priced😀 anyway keep up the good work mate. You have got a regular viewer of your vlog👍

Hi Dale another great vlog, I've been a butcher in the UK now for 36 years and i new that steak would melt in your mouth as it's the most expensive you can get, fillet steak over here, to be honest i thought it might cost more as you had a couple of good slices of Wellington and yes it has a mushroom puree on top before it's encased in the pastry, again brilliant as always, stay safe and god bless 💪
