Kerala Dum Parotta in Dubai 🇮🇳🇦🇪

- When I was travelling in Kerala last year I didn't get a chance to eat much of the local food due to illness. However, it's easy to make up for it in Dubai, where a large percentage of the population are Keralites. There are plenty of restaurants catering for the Malayali taste buds.
I was in a small mall, buying some groceries and about to eat in the food court, when I saw a sign saying "Calicut Foodies". I recognised the name Calicut, as that's the region of Kerala that's most famous for food.
I ate a delicious Nadan Mutton Curry there and spoke to the staff. They said that if I returned at a time when they weren't busy that I could make a vlog inside their kitchen. So, one week later, here I am making this vlog for you guys.
I left the menu choices up to the staff, and they wanted me to try their two most popular items, which then became three.
First was the Kerala Dum Parotta. It was three layers of different non-veg curries, separated by layers of parotta - a type of fluffy flat bread made with refined wheat flour.
The three meat layers were Nadan Beef Curry, Alleppey Chicken Curry and Quail Roast.
Second was Dum Puttu. Puttu is the Kerala name for Sri Lankan Pittu, the ground rice steamed in a cylinder. The chef, Mr Jaison, smashed up the Putttu and mixed it with the beef curry and put it in a clay pot with more Puttu, boiled egg and Alleppy Curry. It was then sealed and cooked, Dum style.
Third was Stuffed Chicken. A semi-cooked masala chicken was deep fried and then smothered with a sweet and spicy sauce.
All the food was delicious but my favourite was the Dum Parotta. There's so much variety and different flavours in one meal and the portion size could fill even the hungriest man's belly.

Kerala is not mostly christian... But we do have a larger percentage of population of christians and muslims compared to other parts of india. In Kerala , hindus (about 50% not everone) eat beaf and hindus who dont eat beaf usually don't care if others eat beaf.
That's the beauty of Kerela! Everybody minds their own business when it comes to food and religious preference.....no mixing....unlike mainland india

I like how you remember all the different terms for the food, it shows your interest in the food of the different Countries! Also that food looks absolutely delicious and the service is awesome too! Watching this at 3:44am in the morning is not a smart move
Dale if you come back to India, you need to see India through the eyes of a local college student. They know the best authentic food that are dirt cheap because we are always broke and desperate times calls for desperate food exploration lol. So maybe next time find some college student to give you a tour of the area!

At a first glance I'm very much impressed by the soothing yellow lighting and colourful sitting arrangements of the restuarant .... This coconut chicken recipe is quite unique and I like coconut and garlic based food .... But I don't have supernatural metabolism like you (I always skip the beef part )

Must say I was surprised when Dale said the word Beef because like he said in most parts of India the Cow is sacred.
Beef happens to be my favourite meat.
Haven't been to India yet...or this particular mall in Dubai.🤞

Hi, Beef available in India is mostly buffalo or OX meat. There is only ban on killing Cow in some Indian states.
Hey dale , just want to tell you the basic idea of eating Indian food items,
1) roti, naan , chapati, paratha (any bread kind things) are made to be eaten with gravy or dry vegetables. Gravy vegetables can also be eaten with rice.
2) Any kind of liquid Dal is made to be eaten with rice , and if the Dal is little thick you can also eat it with roti, naan, etc.
3)In non-veg , if chicken or any meat is made with gravy (like butter chicken) you can have it with roti, naan, etc. But if it is in curry form you have to eat it with rice.
4) Also, lassi is mostly Not recommend with non-veg food, as lassi is a dairy product and having it with non-veg food leads to stomach ache. But if you can tolerate it you can have it.

India Town 🇮🇳 vegetarian food restaurant owned, run and food cooked by Indians DALE here in Mexico City. I ate there the other day and the thali is just like the ones I had in Bhubaneswar, Puri, Varanas, Delhi, Mumbaii and Rishikesh. DALE you have to go and do a food Vlog there half a block from Zócalo in Centro Historico on 16 de Septiembre street on the third 🥉 floor. Look for Lawrence. His an Indian from Goa 🇮🇳. Very nice dude 😃🙏🏻.
Great. In Kolkata we have something similar like this we call it patai paratha. It is nothing but tearing a big paratha in pieces . But we do not have meat inside unlike this one . We eat this patai paratha with egg curry or meat curry or vegetable curry . If you come to Kolkata again must taste . It is a delicious street food .
