During her time with AAUW, Maatz spearheaded the campaign that led to the passage of the Lilly Ledbetter Fair Pay Act and other women’s rights, education and civil rights legislation. After representing women’s rights groups on Capitol Hill for more than 20 years, Maatz is now an independent consultant working nationwide, specializing in gender equity issues, grassroots advocacy, and nonprofit management.
