nice guide bro, i just started to learn shang and was using kano right away cuz i saw the mid string into morph ball if opp is blocking. Also would love to see how to do the morph combos consistently with kano more, i learned a lot of the cast. I still gotta get better at perfectly morphing🤣 thanks so much! subbed
I have a full guide to doing Form Stealer routes with Kano here: th-cam.com/video/tq2KWM5kb7M/w-d-xo.html It goes over how to do things consistently and addresses some character specific quirks.
Good shit man, very informative and useful info. Mained shang in 11 and been avoiding learning him lately because of the morph ability basically requiring your knowledge of every other character. Regardless you got my sub, I'm going to get familiar with him and figure out the characters I don't know as I play
Thanks man! Check out the rest of my content too, I'm uploading Shang videos almost daily at this point, and have a lot of guides related to him including Form Stealer routes for every character using the Kano extension. I tend to think using Form Stealer is usually a bad play to be honest, but it is better in this game than it ever has been before, so I do love finding places where it can be made good. Unfortunately your opponent will inevitably have more experience in the mirror than you do, and better character knowledge in every other way too. The only obvious advantage you can get is understanding how your kameo works better than they do using their character.
The trick is that you can input dS after inputting the special, but before the animation of the special begins. So the input looks like f4dS121, df2, dS if that helps. There is a cooldown on Quick Morph, so pressing it too fast also prevents the transformation from occurring. I try to press dS after pressing df2 but during the animation of f4121.
Sorry one more question 24:30 if the f4 chip string into kano ball is timed correctly can they still armor I know they can’t poke but can they still armor?
I'm not 100% sure now due to the changes since the release of this video, but on release there was a way to get the timing tight enough that they could not armor. However, it was probably a 1-3 frame link which was difficult to do reliably because of the nature of ambush kameos. It may be the case now that the gap can always be armored, but you can vary when the Kano ball connects a little bit to change which gap they can armor. If you call early and have the ball hit with no gap after claws then they will get hit if they attempt armor between claws and Kano, but they will be able to armor after Kano connects and before you begin the next string. If you delay Kano a little more, you will open the gap between claws and Kano for armor, but close the gap between Kano and the next string. By changing up the timing like that you can make it a mind game even if you cannot reliably make it gapless.

I get poked out of spinning spikes with kano ball sometimes during block pressure. Is the timing pretty strict?
24:37 what’s the timing I can’t seem to get it any help would be awesome starting in young going to old and then back to young spikes
