My dad owned a 1958 it had all the options, V8 , hydramatic transmission , power steering, air conditioning, positive traction. It was a fleet side, white with all the chrome. He put glass packs on it and it sounded great. He drove the truck 6 years and when he traded it a mechanic at the Chevrolet dealership bought it. That truck stayed in the Forrest City, Arkansas area for years. When I got old enough to drive I wanted to try to buy it but Daddy said it was too old and would be a maintenance nightmare. He was probably right but I sure liked that truck.
Mine was a 59 Apache fleetside with every option except V-8 engine. Paid $900.00 in 1962 and drove it to highschool..was 16 years old at the time. Followed it through 3 owners and lost track of it five years ago. She was a beauty!
Thanks for this great history lesson! Someone brought a beautiful light blue Apache to the Stroud, Oklahoma Summer Festival car show today (June 8th). There were many vehicles at the show, but it was my favorite!
Imagine if they made the 59 in 2025? They would sell millions. Im talking devolved with no modern electronics or sensors. They could punch them out like postcards at 25,000 a pop and have huge profit margins. CEOs are dumb asses. Bring back the 59😢
