I have a the same camper and bypassed the septic tank and just ran a hose out the back of the camper. Highly recommend doing that, it was $10 in parts and can be reversed at any time. I carry a 5 gallon bucket to use when showering and then I dump the bucket in an appropriate place. Enjoy your new camper!
@@LivingLargeCamping mine has an access panel below the closet touching the floor. You should open it to see a p trap from the shower to the black tank. I'll try to find an old blog post that has pictures. It was a surprisingly easy mod.

There is definitely a lack of drawers. We intended on building some but ran out of time. We’ll be posting an updated tour of our renovations next weekend!

Mine in a 1996 Lance but it is the 10 foot one. I wasn't able to find the one you have for a reasonable price. The added room lets it have a microwave, an oven under the stove and a larger refrigerator. Plus a cupboard between the dinette and the fridge. You will find that the shower is amazing, but I have a separate grey tank. In my last camper I stood in a plastic bin in the hallway to shower. I had a curtain suspended from a PVC frame I hung from the ceiling. The water was contained in the bin. I just dumped it out the back door when I was done. It makes the walkthrough feel cramped, but I keep the shelf over the dinette down all the time. I can get five deep plastic bins up there for storage of light things. That doubles the available storage. I'm 6'1" and it doesn't bother me. I don't hit my head or anything. Using the power station instead of the battery is genius.

Thanks for the comment! Expenses vary depending on what state we are in as some have an abundance of free camping options and others do not. In terms of propane usage, during the winter running the heater, stove, and fridge we go through a 20lb tank in 4-5 days. This is with the heater running all night and occasionally during the day. What made you change from a pop-up to a hardside. I have a hardside and was thinking of changing to a pop-up. My tank was small also and so I just went to a porta-potti. Now I can just dump in any public restroom. makes life so much easier.
Id say the main drive for changing was full-timing. I personally loved the FWC platform and thought it was perfect for weekend trips or slightly longer. But the lack of interior height for me made the hard side more appealing and the added amenities were a nice plus. Both great options though!
I enjoy your videos. Have watched a number of them since finding your channel. The audio balance between your talking and your music is great. The overall audio level is low and I have to turn my speakers way up. Then an ad comes on and is way too loud (yes I don't have youtube premium). If possible can you raise the overall audio level. I know some editor programs don't do that or make it easy. Not a deal breaker but wanted to share my experience. I am on Windows 10 using small PC speakers and watching using Chrome browser.

Curious to find out why you went for a truck+RV setup, when you are basically driving something that burn 9 miles per gal; and it is permanently attached to your RV. I can see the advantage of this setup if you use your truck most of the time, and need something you can have a trip in sometimes, but as daily driver basically, wouldn't be more efficient to have a standard RV van/camper van with better fuel economy? Also it is an old RV,. how much money you spent on it to update it and make it serviceable? I would suspect that most of the seals and piping must be pretty much dead at this point, and the electronics inside need a full overhaul; which is not cheap unless you do it yourself.
Thanks for the comment! We thought long and hard about truck/truck camper vs class C/van when we decided to change setups. We liked having the option to remove the camper and drive the truck as is when we are visiting family or stationed somewhere for an extended period of time. Also, a quality 4x4 system was a requirement when shopping and the only thing available was the Mercedes which ended up being far more expensive than the truck and camper together. We spend right at $1000 on the renovation of our camper and it would have cost us 15-30x that for a full build on an empty van. Not sure there is a perfect camper setup as needs always change, so if we ever had to switch from a truck camper to a trailer or something else it would be a seamless transition. Hope this helps answer some questions!
Could you give details as to how you connected your Goal Zero to your 12 volt system? I would rather do that, but wasn't sure how the interior lights and everything would work. Not sure if you ran it somehow through the fuse box. I currently am running a short extension cord from the 30 amp plug in through one of the access doors and plug it into my power station. TIA.
Of course! We disconnected the +/- wires coming out of the 12v inverter and into the power "grid" of the camper and wired them into an anderson connector that fit the GZ.We knew we'd spend 95% of the time not plugged into shore power so it was the easiest way to tap into the existing 12v system. The other option would have been routing the cables from the exterior battery compartment and installing an anderson on those, but this route seemed quicker at the time
Sweet camper! I have a Lance that is pretty much identical to your camper. Mine is a 1988 and I am doing a remodel on it right now. Do you guys store anything in the truck bed around the wheel wells? I have access from inside my camper on each side and was considering putting batteries in there or building some compartments in the truck bed that I could access from the inside too. Just a thought.

I have an older model of this camper from 1996, under the dinette closer to the door, is the battery box on mine. It has a purple wire that is cut and I can't find a wire diagram anywhere. Trying to upgrade the electrical system and install solar.
Really wish I could have afforded a bigger truck. I've only got a RAM 1500 not HEMI but, it will be only myself so hoping I am able to find the perfect size camper for just me. Are you finding that you're still keeping things in the backseat of the truck?
Hi Linda, yes we still use the backseat of our new truck. However, we are finding we don't need some of the things we carry so looking to downsize our "stuff" even further!

Thanks Tim! We have a 20lb tank stored on the passenger outside of the camper. Lasts us around 2 weeks with fridge, stove and occasional furnace!

No airbags as of now. We’re putting it on a scale tomorrow to make sure we’re underweight

Is your battery lithium-ion? How many amp hours is it? How much did it cost you?
Yes, the goal zero 3000x is about 250 amp hours but we only use 80%. And we got it open box for 25% off
