Great video..get a trailer lock so no one can take your rig while you’re not there…and don’t ever go between the truck and the camper when guiding any rig that’s backing up…just keep to the sides..always think about safety first
First time watching! A couple of things we do. Get a socket that fits your jack and bring a battery-powered drill. Makes it so much easier. I've heard people convert their hitch jack with a nut to do the same. We just upgraded to a power hitch jack. Beats having to crank. Get walkie talkies for backing into a space and hooking up. Then the whole campground can't hear you yelling! 😊 Make sure to level side to side when using your propane fridge. Your motor should last longer. And, for sure, get sway bars and a hitch lock. We love our trailer for the reason you got yours! Let's go exploring! We base camp alot! Happy camping!
I’ve had them all from pop-ups, truck campers, travel trailers to fifth wheels. They all have their pros and cons. It is nice to just disconnect and have a go to town vehicle!! Good luck with the new camper good choice in my opinion!!
About the 12v fridge, we have 2 campers. One with a propane fridge and one with the 12v. We only take the 12v camper when we're going to be plugged in. The one time we took it boondocking, we had to run our gas generator every day. It's just too much of a drain on the batteries and the solar couldn't keep up. The propane is so much more reliable.
Nice camper. Tandem's is the best choice. Well, Connor. When things seem to fall apart, you always have Amelia's smile to put a smile on your face and brighten everyone's day.
Connor, I personally like and enjoy the propane/110 fridge. It takes between 2-4 hours to bring it up to temp off shore power. I have 2 recommendations for you: 1) Bring fridge up to temp before going camping. AND have all items cold going into fridge/freezer. 2) Give the propane/110 fridge a try-out before making the switch to 12 volt. I have always had the Dometic. It "sips" propane. Another thing you can consider is switching your 20 lb propane tanks to 30 lb tanks. You will have to explore your tongue weight and other necessitating variables.
We have a 2022 Winnebago with a 12v fridge. For camping with no electric hookup we would much prefer propane fridge since we continue to struggle with enough battery power even with lithium. We had good success helping to regulate temp in propane fridge by using a small fridge fan inside to circulate cold. A couple d-cells last for weeks.
Pro travel tip. Get a stroller for your dog. It’s great especially when it comes to eating at restaurants. It raises the dog up so it’s not sitting down by your feet. It keeps the dog contained so you don’t have to worry about hanging onto a leash. It comes in handy for hiking. So definitely get the 3 wheel version. Just throwing the idea out there. We love our dog stroller!
Yes, the previous owner did everything right. Blow out the lines and leave all open. Most blow all lines and the put in pink RV antifreeze, never green like a car. And always bypass your water heater when winterizing. Read you manual!
Just a recommendation. Plug the power cord into the camper first then go to your power pole, turn off the breaker plug your cord in then turn on the breaker. Have fun.
That’s backwards. Plug the diagnostic surge protector into the pole first to make sure the pole is properly wired. Only after the pole is confirmed good, turn of the pole, attach other end of line to trailer and turn on the breaker. This could save your trailer’s electrical system + appliances.
Another good tip is to lock up your trailer hitch. They have items to get for this. Not saying someone would steel u trailer, but better safe then sorry.
A 2or 3 ft level will get your side to side and end to end pretty close. Should be easy to store in the basement. You'll get the rest dialed in pretty quickly. Enjoy.
Congrats on your new rv!! It's so good to see how you are taking to a new style of camping. I would suggest you get a hitch lock for when you leave your camper and do your exploring. Happy Travels !
So so super pleased for you both on your new trailer, it's like new and now you have the freedom to explore without taking the camper everywhere. Very best wishes to you on your exploring .love Michael uk care home resident xx
Agree with above about power cord. Make sure breaker on power pole is off, plug in and, once your surge protector has confirmed the pole is good, turn the breaker on . Great looking camper! Great way to buy too. Most owners are going to be honest with issues and if it looks good it was PROBABLY well cared for and maintained. Good for you!
I for one am very happy for the change. It means that you can take us exploring a bit easier. It’s like having a second home with a different backyard each time you take it out. I’m excited for you guys and for myself. I always wanted a travel trailer! And now I get to go with you so to speak. P.S. I love the color of the cabinets! And the bathroom is nice too. That layout makes for a cozy homey space and I can’t wait for some Autumn travels! Fall leaves and campfires. ❤. Sweet!!😊
Id stick with the propane fridge. You have bigger tanks now than the truck camper, and the propane fridge is very efficient for what little it uses. Love the new camper, we just sold our Lance 835 to do the exact same thing
Enjoy your new camper it’s takes a little time to get a pattern for your set up and take down. Just don’t get frustrated. It will all work out. Love your videos keep em coming.
glad to see you enjoyed your new camper,my last husband and I had a 27ft GreyWolf after he passed I sold it because I felt it to big for me .Sadly I never really learn how to do everything with that rig because my late husband did it all. Moving forward I am remarried and my ne husband never owned a camper we bought a use 2012 19ft camper and I do remember how to do alot of things because I did watch my late husband so now we are learning camping in this camper together also... One thing I was proud of was remembering how to use the dump site LOL ..Enjoy and happy camping
Love the new camper and camper issues just come with the territory. learning something new is a good thing. you've inspired me to cook more while camping.
We have a new trailer and have a 12v Fridge/freezer, hot water and AC. love them. no longer have to worry about the propane. Cant remember brand, but Ill look tomorrow.
I think you will love your new one so much more then old one. I would suggest get some locks for your camper for tow hitch just to lock it make it hard for anyone to steel it. Also plug in power to camper then to power pole then turn breaker on. Also watch a lot of TH-cam to figure things out with your camper. That’s what we did when we get new campers. I love your new one.
We love our 5th wheel. The drivable Rv we had was the same problem you had. Couldn't go anywhere without breaking camp. We love being able to get in the truck and go places. Enjoy!
So excited to see you on your first adventure, even with all trials and tribulations you experienced…you’ll get ‘r all figured out in due time as you always have before! 3 pieces of advise, for now, that I’ve learned from following a lot of YTers 1- put some stick on levels on the front and side of the trailer 2- when you leave camp do NOT put your door handle over your door! It is sure sign to tell all you are not in the camper and are gone! 3- once you start using your oven and if it doesn’t heat evenly, buy a pizza stone for the bottom rack to help evenly distribute the heat. Not all people have issues with it heating unevenly, but a lot due As always, stay safe out there…..
I wouldn't even consider a 12v fridge until you install a proper battery system, i have a 400 AH bank in my TT but i stay with my propane fridge because it works so well, and i keep my portable 12v ARB 63qt elements fridge in the bed of the truck for extra capacity ✌️
Not sure why on the fridge. I travel with the propane on and it does fine. Even off grid never having to worry about battery drain. My 20ft dutchman came with a dometic.
We like your camper! You have to choose what is right for you at the right time! I am experienced with our Lance, but left the black tank valve partially open. Nasty experience on the first dump. It happens to all of us. Love your adventures and thanks for sharing with us all!
Look into jc refrigeration in Elkhart Indiana, they make new cooling units (the back of the fridge) that are 12 v compressor. You take your existing cooling unit off and install the new one tight on your same "box"( fridge housing)
I highly recommend Nova Kool refrigerators, we have one in our truck camper. They were originally designed for boats/yachts. They are extremely quiet and ours doesn't need to be vented outside.
My wife and I really like the new camper……what you need now is a truck topper on you truck to be able to take things along camping and keeping them secure……check out KYD’s reason for adding a camper shell to the truck to see if that’s for you guys!
How fun and congrats ! Have the same camper and love it ! Perfect couples camper and great to take out alone ! It has been a trouble free camper for me and I hope the same for you , Tows awesome ,love tandems ! Safe travels !
Have fun in the new camper. By the way when you are hooked up to an external fresh water connection you don’t run your pump. Pump is only for dry camping. It pumps water from your fresh water holding tank.
You are such a beautiful couple enjoy your rides and thank you for the information also just be careful out there and don’t pay attention to negative comments life is to beautiful to listen to that. ❤❤❤
Hey guys! Glad to see you on the road with the TT. First of all, you DEFINITELY need to go with the 12v fridge! You won’t have any of the issues that you had with the 2-way fridge and you gain more space! So many pros to the 12v. The thing I see people complaining the most about is the power usage. We have a 2024 TT with the new Dometic 12v fridge. We have 300ah of lithium batteries and 400 watts of solar on the roof and we never get below 60% overnight. You had mentioned to me that you would have a roof full of solar and plenty of battery on your last video. With that, it’s a no brainer to get the 12v fridge! Feel free to reach out if you have anymore questions. I’m a freak when it comes to research on things for the camper and I Love EVERYTHING about RV’ing and what comes with it. Thanks again for sharing your videos and have a Great weekend!
@@LivingLargeCamping This Dometic is the only one I’ve used so far, so unfortunately I can’t help you with that question. If there are a few that you are trying to pick between, I’d probably go with the one with a better warranty, if there is one that is better, or which one has better customer service in case you do run into issues down the road. Good Luck and I’m interested in seeing which one you end up with if you decide to go that route.
Before you fall in love with the idea of getting a new fridge: unless your door is about 26” or wider, you might not be able to get the old fridge out of the camper without taking the door frame apart. I’m rebuilding my absorption fridge for the second time.
You kids are doing just fine. My wife and I went from a tent to now in a 29ft. Class C R V. Bound to be a little bit of learning along the way. . We laughed a lot ! !
I moved from a 3-way refrigerator to a 12V and I LOVE the 12V. I had a Roadtrek camper van, then a Class C and, when I traded the Class C for a trailer, the 12V refrigerator was a must have. The Norcold 12V is nicer than the lower- end brands/models. My trailer has a MagicChef and it isn’t as efficient as the Norcold in my ClassC was. I highly recommend the 12V refrigerators compared to the 3-way option. I also suggest the Equalizer hitch. It is so very easy and does a fantastic job on windy says.
We love your new set up. We have a 17ft. Salem and a 30 ft. Fifth wheel. Use them for different kinds of camping. We ALWAYS disconnect, that way you can easily leave it there is a medical or environmental emergency. We've had people in our camping group come running to take asking if we can take him to get his granddaughter out on a trail that had broken her leg and we had to take them to the hospital cause he never disconnects! No bueño! Enjoy! 🌞
We are on our 2nd RV with a 12v fridge. Our ATC had a Norcold 10 CUF and our Airstream has an 8CUF Norcold. Both have been flawlessly and leaps and bounds better than any of our past Absorption refers, needless to say I will never go back to an absorption refer again. The draw back is they can drain batteries if they’re not in good condition. The initial start up and cool down can consume some power but after that it’s pretty minimal. I have 300ah of lithium and 400 watts of solar and generally. I will use 50 amps of power throughout the night, running the fridge, lights, TV’s and the inverter for the dvd player.
An item I suggest is an AMPLock. This thing is bullet proof and secures your trailer when its parked and unattended. I use mine when I store my trailer and at my campsites. This way, I have confidence that it will be there when I return from sightseeing.
Congraulations again on the trailer. It brings back lots of nice memories for me to see yours. I had the same model, but my interior had dark cabinets and a different color scheme. By the way, there are two water shutoff valves under the bathroom sink, You have to remove the four screws from the shelf below to get to them. You can't get water to the shower until you do this. I hope the seller told you about them. Remember to grease the trailer wheels every 10,000 miles. It should have grease ports on the hubs to make this easy.
I would work on getting torsion bars and anti sway bar for towing. Also you could get a golf cart to haul in the back of the truck to ride around the campgrounds
We replaced our norcold 8 cu.ft. propane/120vac with an Everchill 12 vdc 10 cu.ft. last year. Would never go back. I strongly urge you to do the same thing. We used to worry about the fridge getting too warm on travel days because we're in the camp that you DO NOT travel with the propane on. Now after driving all day we get to the next spot and the fridge is 38 and freezer's like, 5....gamechanger for us. We have 300 amp hours of batteries and one 180 watt solar panel. Happy Trails!
We are so excited to see you in your trailer as that is what we are doing too. We are getting a 3/4ton ram and an Airstream trailer. Also we are in the process of buying 5 acres with a cabin on it. So what you are doing is the same as us. We are planning a year long trip around the U.S.A. So watching you is inspiring for us as well.
I really miss the truck camper but the new (used) trailer looks brand new and very comfortable and I understand your reasoning for the change. Maybe give the refrigerator a chance before you replace it, the newer version may work better than what you are used to. I wish you the best of luck with the new setup and many, many great adventures with it!
This isnt about the camper but I traveled to Wisconsin and Michigan for the first time last week. We camped in Mackinaw city and also saw Macinac island. Such a gorgeous state you live in!
Connor & Amelia, The 2 of you will really enjoy your camper. By time you receive this, there is a hot , cold, and drain valve for your hot water heater. The cold valve needs to be disengaged, otherwise your hot water will never get hot. Also, the hot water runs at 140°.
Nice travel trailer! I hope you guys really enjoy it. We’ll be on the road with our truck camper this weekend to the Texas panhandle to work on a magazine story. We are really looking forward to getting away for a few days! Safe travels to y’all!
Wow what a cool little camper to zip around with... Keep a eye out for a nice little ground mat for under your awning at the door. The stroller for your fur baby is a useful clever idea. I carry 3 5 gallon bottles, I fill at water fill station. The convenience of 3 way power for the frig give it a chance to work for you both! Im enjoying this new camping experience! Be safe, and have fun. Toledo 💙
I’ve been watching your channel for a while and was wondering when the truck camper would feel to small for the two of you. New camper was a great call! Congratulations 🎉😂❤
We had a Furion 12v fridge in our first rig and loved it. Now we have a Dometic propane fridge and we prefer the 12v. We actually want to swap it out for a 12v. We live in Southwest Florida and it just doesn’t preform as well here as the 12v.
Pro Tip: I’d consider putting a topper on that pickup. Even a cheap aluminum one would be fine. Make sure you get the side windows that open, (Windoors) The amount of dry, lockable storage is going to come in handy as you two gain experience and get farther from home. Plus, I bet you’ll gain an MPG, or two, on the highway. I did.
Something for the tip jar 👊🏻Or a treat for Mr. Barkley 😺
We don’t care what type of camper you two use, we’re just glad to be along for the ride.
Make sure to level side to side when using your propane fridge.
Sway bars for sure
Nice camper. Tandem's is the best choice.
Well, Connor. When things seem to fall apart, you always have Amelia's smile to put a smile on your face and brighten everyone's day.
Winnebago campers are pretty solid overall. Glad all the “issues” weren’t really issues.
Always turn off your main water source and retract your awning before leaving for a day trip.
We have been doing both of these things, glad to know others do as well
Do you have a lock on the hitch so the trailer doesn't get stolen while you are away from the campsite?
Connor,
I personally like and enjoy the propane/110 fridge. It takes between 2-4 hours to bring it up to temp off shore power. I have 2 recommendations for you:
1) Bring fridge up to temp before going camping.
Congrats! You handled everything like a pro!
Yes, the previous owner did everything right. Blow out the lines and leave all open. Most blow all lines and the put in pink RV antifreeze, never green like a car. And always bypass your water heater when winterizing. Read you manual!
12v Fridge. are grate they cool real fast. Puting things in them is just like you home one. No more slow cooling.
Enjoy.
Also, need to be side to side level when using propane fridge.

A must in a tandem axle trailer is X-chalks you won’t regret and never go without. Cheers!

I've been looking at those, glad to know theyre worth the investment!
Of course we love you no matter what you’re camping in.
Looked like everything went so smooth. You guys did very well with new camper. Perfect weather. See you next time.❤
Excited to share in your new set up! Looks great! Happy to see you enjoying fun adventures & how you embrace being newbies! You are both great!
You both got this!
U guys will be great ❤ no worries learning is so much fun!!
We plan to learn a lot haha
I have a 2024 2108DS. It has a 12 volt GE fantastic. Does not use alot of battery. And quiet.
Good to know!
Beautiful camper glad too see you guy's say hi too barkley and enjoy your life ❤❤❤
I would work on getting torsion bars and anti sway bar for towing. Also you could get a golf cart to haul in the back of the truck to ride around the campgrounds
That would be fun!
Congratulations and enjoy yourselves and thank you for sharing.
Thanks for watching!
You guys will do just fine.
Love that you went to a trailer! Looking forward to seeing many more adventures.
We would love your videos even if you guys were in a tent, a lean-to, a shanty, hammock camping, whatever!
I find you both delightful! I had such a good laugh when you finally showed us the lighthouse! It must have taken a magnifying glass to find it!
That a Beautiful Camper. Hope you guys really enjoy it.
Glad we can be some inspiration, sounds like a great future for you!
Congrats!! Good for you trying new things! Looking forward to seeing your adventures!
We love a new adventure, and we've been very happy with our trailer!
Way to go with the flow!!
It should be level so that the fridge runs correctly and slide out moves out smoothly, if you had one.
This isnt about the camper but I traveled to Wisconsin and Michigan for the first time last week. We camped in Mackinaw city and also saw Macinac island. Such a gorgeous state you live in!
Connor & Amelia,
The 2 of you will really enjoy your camper. By time you receive this, there is a hot , cold, and drain valve for your hot water heater. The cold valve needs to be disengaged, otherwise your hot water will never get hot. Also, the hot water runs at 140°.
An awesome switch up! Love coming along for the adventures!!
Nice video. Best Wishes. Thank you for sharing.
I really like your camper, it’s so nice to be able to exsplorer the area. You can use a drill to raise and lower your stabilizer
I've looked at the drill adapter attachment, might have to pick one up!
I always carry 10 gallon of water on board when traveling never know when you have to flush we have a Winnebago great unit 😊
Good luck with the new camper!
Enjoyed your video. My wife and I started to buy a Winnebago but backed out of the deal. But we’re still looking…
Love the camper! Enjoy every minute! Jane❤🙏
Thanks Jane!
I am excited. Maybe it’s time for a comfy back pack for the pup. Nice dinner.
Nice travel trailer! I hope you guys really enjoy it. We’ll be on the road with our truck camper this weekend to the Texas panhandle to work on a magazine story. We are really looking forward to getting away for a few days! Safe travels to y’all!
I think you made a fantastic discussion this have to find out everything you have to do before you go long distance
Congrats! This new trailer looks awesome 😍👍🏻👌🏻💫
Toledo 💙
Thank you!
You are doing great learning the new set up is fun
Pro Tip: I’d consider putting a topper on that pickup. Even a cheap aluminum one would be fine. Make sure you get the side windows that open, (Windoors) The amount of dry, lockable storage is going to come in handy as you two gain experience and get farther from home. Plus, I bet you’ll gain an MPG, or two, on the highway. I did.
We've considered that as well! It would be nice to have the extra covered storage. We'll keep an eye out for one
