    Handmade sodium citrate, 100% coffee substitution = one amazing block of dish soap that deodorizes, cuts grease, soap scum, and hard water stains. Enjoy!

      How much sodium citrate do you add??

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  4 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hey! So I use 1-3% of total oil weight for the recipe. :)

      Such a pretty color. How did you get a coffee soap with soap nuts to lighten up that much as both things are so dark? 🤔😊

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Hey! Coconut oil is very very light, so after its saponified and solid, it lightens up pretty significantly. :)

      I would love to see the process for making the sodium citrate. So interesting about the addition of coffee. My first reaction was, “don’t waste the coffee!” Haha.

    Game. Changer. THANK YOU!!! I just made this and it’s amazing! SO much more effective at cleaning my oily dishes than the commercial detergent! I’m a hot process soap maker and this was my first foray into heat transfer or cold process… let’s just say that Ontario, Canada, in the wintertime… ya… the heat didn’t transfer enough so I took a heat gun to the Pyrex (hoping it wouldn’t get too hot). LOL! Good times! I love this recipe. Thanks so much.

    I made my first dish soap!!! It turned out awesome! I had to master batch, use two micas and I got ceramic bowels from the dollar store. I didn’t do coffee because I only have a kureig but it turned out great 👍🏻. Thanks Mrs Soap and Soap and Clay!

    I finally got around to making some solid dish soap. I love the coffee idea so I went with this recipe for my first try. I made the sodium citrate solution and used it at 3% of the oils. It took forever to hit emulsion and then forever to get it a bit thicker to pour. Is that a thing with dish soap or is it other factors do you think? Just wondering. I got bored of stick blending so I poured off a bit and made a lovely swirl in my dish soap.
    So I can never get any of my coffee soaps to be any other color but brown or darker. I was really hoping with the 100% coconut oil but alas it was not to be lol 😂 I got a lovely light brown with a cream swirl going through it and it looks like a brick of wood sitting on my counter lol I love it! Works fabulously! Love this recipe! Thank you ❤️
    But ya I put a crap ton of green and blue mica and TD but it’s still brown lol 😂

    Do the soaps have a coffee scent to them, or is there any scent at all and is the saponification/ curing timeframe the same as a body bar? Thank you so much for sharing your vast knowledge with us, I appreciate you! 💗

    Quick question, after I say I just LOVE watching your videos!!
    Ok when making the sodium citrate, do you have to melt the citric acid first and the water so that the bicarbonate can mix in without the citric acid hardening back up, and with that said after does it stay fluid enough to add into the soap batter easily? OR am I just way off track here?

  • @belindaayewoh437
    @belindaayewoh437 ปีที่แล้ว

    Can both citric acid and sodium citrate be added to cleaning soap?

  • @rebeccabeebe1
    @rebeccabeebe1 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    do you turn the citric acid into a sodium citrate solution first to avoid the citric acid neutralizing some of the lye in your soap??

  • @sheronbrewer4255
    @sheronbrewer4255 3 ปีที่แล้ว

    Hello! I hate doing dishes, as well! But will make this dish soap to encourage me to have a better out look on that chore. When making the sodium citrate, how much water do I use with the baking soda and citric acid for the solution? BTW, your kids are adorable!

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Thanks! I don’t ever measure out the water when making sodium citrate - maybe a 1:1:1 ratio?

    Is there anyway to color the coffee dish soap without using micas and on another note have you thought of adding honey to it for the antibacterial benefit....

    • @MrsSoapAndClay
      @MrsSoapAndClay  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      @@MrsSoapAndClay I did try honey but I either need it warmer or add to hot lye water as it didn’t completely blend in I may have rushed it I added it at trace then blended with whisk I will do more research
