I like you message Dakota, "We should be working together." You set a good example for this country. Your parents brought you up well.

I wish more people understood him and just about every other service member past, and present. He does not find heroism in what he did because the marine corps especially molds them to be and stay humble, that's why they treat you like crap until you deploy or are in for years and years. That sounds like the opposite of what you'd think would motivate someone to be humbled, but they treat you like crap so when your in or out of the battlefield so you don't think your better then your other brothers and sisters, and therefore become one, and it's a sure fire way to do things like THIS when your in that moment and you do that to sustain human life as long as possible. That's why some don't like to be thanked for their service, my advice is just be patient, be observatant, know when they're annoyed or uncomfortable, and for the love of God don't argue with them who you think they're, he's still a hero an always will be but it's important to stop yourself when you start.

A cvilian's job is not to advise a soldier about how he should feel about his experience in war. Your job is to listen not to "arm chair quarterback" or attempt to fix a problem that is much bigger than they can understand.

THANK YOU. I know she probably means well, as the other millions who do the same thing, but they don't see them doing that unfortunately. They don't see it's arguing with them, they just know he's a better person then they could ever be and don't know how to say that, so they argue their actions as to what we call heroism, he is a hero, but civilians will never stop doing that, we live in a way more argumentative world, and they don't even realize that.

Most Americans cannot even come close to understanding what those soldiers go through. They just live in a bubble. Someone sees them abs they're like good job you're a hero....but it is so much more!😭😭😭

The caption to this show started off wrong. It said “Former Marine”. There is no such thing. They are Marines for life.
My oldest son and daughter in law know Dakota Meyer. My next in line son is a Marine who currently works for the federal government. He did 5 years and left as a Sgt.

My father screamed at me, and told me I was an idiot; when I said I wanted to join Army. It was terrible the feedback I got for my choice as a grown man.

Piano Man42 accepting negative feedback as a challenge and proving them wrong is part of being a grown man. I hope you do well and he admits he’s proud of you.

Well, some people know one of his most hasty decisions brought him the perfect woman, whose .standards and morals are as high as God and led to his heartbreak.

Those two interviewers do not deserve to be sitting in the same room with Sergeant Dakota Myers. I'll never understand no one to hear the real truth of what went on that day. I'M INSULTED.

What an absolute PATHETIC standard for a Medal of Honor. His complete citation is filled with holes. A civilian reporter with the armored column enter the village has stated ALL of Meyer's "rescue operation" took place AFTER the Taliban was run off by the gunships. Remove that portion from his MH citation and he has done little for even a very low valor award. TWO MHs came out of that pathetic FAILED operation. Sad...very sad. A MH should be so SOLID it should be unquestionable--not full of holes. Both Meyer's and Swenson's MHs should be revoked.
