      They all fail eventually. Unfortunately, some do it sooner than they should. They can test to make sure every key works at the factory, but no way to know which ones will fail on key press number 350,000.

    If you have a faulty switch, you can also swap the faulty switch with another good switch that you never use, such as the bottom right ALT, FN, CTRL or menu switches. Or even the top right PRTSC, SCRLK and PAUSE switches. I do this whenever one of my switches double-clicks.

    I was halfway through writing an essay for school when all of my E's started double or even triple-typing themselves. It was absolutely infuriating and I tried lots of things including restarting my computer. Turns out I just needed to remove the key and blow some air into it. I didn't even have compressed air, I just gave it a few good blows, and it completely fixed the problem. The E Man, you really lived up to your name.

    Over the past few months I suddenly had my typing go from working normally, to double typing/not typing certain keys, to a few days later fixing itself completely, to breaking again, to fixing itself again, back and forth several times. Yesterday I couldn't type without tons of errors and today, having done nothing to fix it, everything is typing perfectly again. Does anyone know what the issue is that's happening here? It seems quite clearly not to be a physical keyboard issue at all.

    • @THEEMan
      @THEEMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Almost sounds like something wrong with the wire

    • @myrrhbear
      @myrrhbear 2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@THEEMan Thanks much for taking the time to reply. So this keyboard is a Logitech G810, it's fairly new and is in excellent condition. The wire is a heavy braided wire. One of the things I tried doing was simply unplugging and re-plugging it, but the problem persisted, so I don't think it's a damaged or a loose wire issue. I'm concerned that it's a virus or some sort of piggy-backing going on but I couldn't find anything in a google search for this issue aside from fixes that have to do with the keys physically needing cleaning. I don't recall how many times it's happened now, but it will work perfectly and then for a few days or a week it will suddenly get constant double typing and key presses not registering, and then the next day without my having done anything it will go back to working perfectly for weeks.

    • @THEEMan
      @THEEMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@myrrhbear I've never heard of a virus messing with keystrokes registering, but I won't say that's impossible. I know when my keyboard gets dirty it'll only effect it sometimes, coming and going. But the fact that cleaning doesn't work, I can't say what the problem is. It's possible the key switches need to be re-soldered, maybe the physical connections on the board are weak? But that's behind my know how, I'd probably pay someone to fix that for me.

      @@LoLeanderx I'm sorry to hear you have the same problem, and thank you for replying to let me know. It makes me think maybe it's something possibly specific to the G810 since that's also what I'm using. If you ever find a solution I'd be very appreciative to know what it was. So far I haven't found any solution. Right now it's been a couple of weeks without any double typing happening at all, but that's what happened before, and then it came back, went away a while, came back, etc...

    Important: I don't talk about lubrication in the video. The alcohol will remove most or all of the switch's lubrication and this should be replaced, you can buy a tube of switch lube cheap on Amazon. If this problem persists, you can keep reapplying the treatment, but you might just have to replace a switch, which in most cases will require a soldering iron.

    I own a TTEsports Poseidon Z with Kailh Blue Switches. Around 2 Years after purchase the Key Chattering started. And it was bad. Really bad. At the time I had a backup Keyboard lying around (later got fried thanks to a USB port connected to a Firewire. Lol) and never really gave it too much thought at first.
    At some point it started to bug me, and being a technical person I came to the conclusion that maybe a chip or so got fried. Or some contacts just shorted. I opened the Keyboard and tried to ascertain if there was any damage. None. Even tested the conductor paths. Nothing. After some more research I found out the Problem was common and called Key Chattering. I never even thought of that before.
    Let this be a lesson to everyone. Don't think to complicated, even if it is something you do on an every day basis. And for every German watching this, you can simply use some lighter fluid as well. (In Germany this gets used for cleaning quite a lot.)

When I press the right arrow key, it not only moves the cursor right but also sends additional signals, such as typing the number "0" or occasionally triggering the "Insert" key. This behavior occurs inconsistently but frequently enough to disrupt my work.
    Here's what I've tried so far:
    Tested on both Windows and Linux: The problem persists across different operating systems, so it doesn't seem to be a software issue.
    Changed USB ports and cables: No change in behavior.

    Someone in the comments stated it doesn't sound the same, the person who made this video stated in response maybe it acted as lubrication.
    Let me clear something up, switches use lubrication, when you use alcohol especially 99 percent alcohol but any really, you strip the lubricating oil out. This is not a wise thing to do. Typically you use alcohol to clean electrical contacts and that's why his method is working, but you are stripping the lube from the switch itself. You will need to re-lubricate the switch, go look up a video on how to do it.
    If you have hot swappable switches absolutely don't use this method, take the switch out, clean contacts, and relube the switch if needed. After blowing it out of course.

    • @THEEMan
      @THEEMan  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      This is an oversight with my video, I should have mentioned to relubricate the switch. I meant this video as a quick fix, which is why I suggest returning the keyboard instead of trying to unsolder and resolder the troublesome switch, since most users won't. But I will add a note about lubrication to the pinned comment, thank you for this comment!

    I have never tried the alcohol thing. Too afraid to try. What I initially did was swap the switches (I don't throw them away as they might still be usable). But when this turned out to be costly as more and more switches are having chatter after just 2 months (Glorious Pandas), I decided to install the Keyboard Chattering Fix software which does take away the chatter but not the non-responsive keys. So I changed all switches to Drop + Invyr Holy Pandas and still chattering started after 2 months though of course I was not bothered anymore because of the chattering fix. Then lo and behold, I changed my keycaps from SA to MT3 to finally cherry keycaps and all chatter simply disappeared. Even if I am still using the chatter fix software at the end of the day, my logs always show 0 chatter. It really is probably the stem. Plus I always make sure to blow air into my switches once in a while and ensure that they are still not getting loose as sometimes happen with hot-swaps when you are using the keyboard too vigorously.

I'm also using the software you mentioned but it didnt help me that much. Now, I'm waiting for the new switch which I hope solve the chattering (tho i already tried using extra switches but nothing happened so i bought other kind of switch). If it still didnt solve my prob, then i might stick to the default keycaps 😭😭

      I think they are made to fail...
      My g512 started to have issues a few months after the warranty expired. It seemed somewhat randomly as sometimes i noticed doubled letters or missing ones or added ones in weird places of my words. Just now and then but became more and more often and annoying.
      So i tried to drop some alcohol in between the plastic somewhat like here and didn't fix anything. Then went and desoldered the switches that i thought were problematic, open them and cleaned them and issues persisted. Desoldered them again and replaced them with others less used from f keys, pause, scroll lock and such.
      Seemed to had worked for a while but started to have issues again and didn't had the papers with my notes so i guessed if the issues are new keys or same ones. It would seem are mostly the same.
      So i figured maybe to try and change them altogether but didn't found romer g switches locally so i bought a second hand g910 which the seller said it has only a few keys with issues. After testing it it had a lot more than my g512 even though initially seemed being mostly in good working condition. Its issues were similarly random making it difficult to determine which ones are faulty and which are good to use.
      So then i went back to my 512 and to my surprise was working way better with almost no issues, but after several weeks the repeating annoying issues came back.
      Now i'm suspecting that maybe the switches may not have issues at all and the problem be with the board's chip or somethin like that. And seeing many others having similar issues it may be that it's either intentional or they cut some corners in their build and the chip or something on the board fails that results in some sort of ghosting and repeating inputs.
