The piano might be reminding you of Giorno’s theme, which I believe borrows from Josuke’s theme (basically Josuke said the joke, and Giorno is the guy who said it louder). Also, some of the part 4 openings might reference Josuke’s theme, but I’m not sure…

which is ironic considering, giorno's piano was only played for a few seconds and quickly became a big meme which made it popular and recognizable, meanwhile josuke's piano has clearly been played for the most times in his theme with different styles and varieties of the piano with the strings, which includes the slide whistle mixing, and the jazz piano solo which is the actual real piano solo of josuke's theme that goes berserk and is obviously really difficult to play on the piano unlike giorno's, but even after it has been around for 6 years now, not many people even recognizes Josuke's Theme until now simply because it just isn't a meme. and that's what makes it underrated and overshadowed by giorno's theme, since most people only recognize meme songs.

you're absolutely right that these are very riff based - the main reason for that is that when you're watching the show there are a lot of points where the character will be in a fight and "uno reverse" the opponent in a sense or show off or otherwise just be a complete badass, and these themes will often come in at that point to bring attention to it. there will be a lull in the ambient soundtracks and a sudden pause in action, then you'll hear the riff of their theme drop in and it creates this "oh shit it's about to go down" feeling. in my opinion the best examples of this are for jotaro and giorno, but especially giorno because the riff is so distinctive and can be played quietly. this creates a kind of slow down vibe so you can catch your breath mid fight and get excited for the climax to drop, and it makes that climax hit harder. it's very cool to see how music interacts within the actual show itself

The thing with Jotaro is that he doesen't actually *need* that stuff.
Yeah of course Jotaro gets out of hard situations, but he doesen't usuall uno reverse his enemies the same way Giorno does. Because if you think about it, most of Jotaro's beatdowns when his theme is playing is when his victory is already secured and he's just about to end it all in a badass way.
Also, for me, Giorno's theme makes it seem like "sh1t is already going down" while Jotaro's theme, is what makes me feel like it's about to go down
The Pillar Men theme is an absolute banger if you get the chance to listen to that one!

I think the character in JoJo that I most like would be Josuke as the main protagonist. Yoshikage Kira as the villain. And finally as for supporting character, Rohan Kishibe. But it's hard not to like a lot of characters in JoJo's, Araki knows how to do charismatic characters and engaging characters.

You should totally check out "Awaken" (it could be also called "Pillar men theme") and "Overdrive" (or "Joseph's theme") - these themes are totally different than every piece of music from JoJo you've heard

I always love that little slide whistle part in Josuke's theme. Bro, the slide whistle literally went absolutely crazy, they did *not* have to put it in there, and they did anyway. So good.

I would recommend both Overdrive and Welcome to the World as the 2 best to analyze from part 2’s soundtrack. I almost forgot about Awaken though, which is required listening

I'd say the next good one to do a reaction for is Kira's themes "Killer" and "Another face, Same (both complement each other very well), a little different from the main character themes musically, something more menacing, scary even, and also really good.

The JoJo Main Character themes are connected to each other because its a story about a family tree and their descendants. Thats why you might think it sounds familiar. Every Main Character track has the guitar riff in different forms, and they just sound like alternate versions of the previous ones. One reason why i love this show, the music is superb.
yeah, the riffs are a major part of the beatdown themes that really tie them all together. They're usually styled the same way, which gives them that familiar quality.
What I like most is that the riffs are never in the chorus, which is used to show who the character is as a JoJo and what makes them unique.
Jotaro's theme has that snappy, gritty riff at the beginning, but the chorus of his theme features horns and strings alongside a smoother and drawn-out guitar section that gives his theme a real "you've fucked around, time to find out," vibe.
Josuke's theme has the same snappy riff but with a more energetic and less threatening feeling. Josuke's chorus, however, is that delicious piano segment that calls back to that "fuck around and find out," styling whislt still being more bit playful and upbeat.
Giorno's theme starts off with the same riff style as the others but is quick to differentiate itself by its use of thick, jazzy progressions. The chorus of his theme then features a choir, reflecting his status as the son of Dio (god in italian).
Jolyne's theme is like a culmination of all three, which is fitting for the last mainline JoJo. But her theme's chorus is still different. The backing vocals are only in the chorus and sing similarly to Giorno's choir. Only they feel more personal to Jolyne, almost like her friends cheering her on as she overcomes her enemy.
Personally I see Josuke's theme as a sort of bridge between Jotaro's and Giorno's ones. We can hear Jotaro's theme at 3:35 and the piano part was used in Giorno's theme later. Maybe that's the reason I often mix all three themes together in my head when I'm "mouth-trumpeting" (I know lol) them.

Josuke is my favourite JoJo because he’s very friend-shaped out of any JoJo, he is a good friend of course and will protect his friends from really morally-putrid villains as well as the most compassionate JoJo to lesser threats. But sometimes you get goofy stuff like “I am first contact with an alien, how can I make money off of this for my summer break?” which only elevates his character.
Also RIP Billy Kametz his English VA. He did a really good job.
I think what makes Josuke so loveable is him undeniably still being a little brat. Jotaro was way too serious for being a 17 year old and Giorno is characterized by being the most mature out of his cast. Josuke feels like he's trying to find his own way through everything that's happening around him, trying to preserve his identity without sacrificing his duties. His abilities being selfless, only being able to heal others, but stuck to a powerful Stand that can beat the shit out of someone without healing- perfectly encapsulates his character imo

You are correct about there being similarity between each characters theme. Each character theme you've listened to so far are from the Joestar Bloodline, so fittingly their themes feel like they're evolutions of the previous theme. Jotaro came before Josuke, and then Giorno after him. When you listen to them in that order, you can see that the songs share DNA.
I've been loving this series, I think you'd get a real kick out of a couple of the villians themes, Kira's "Killer" theme is chilling, and The Pillar Men Theme "Awaken" is iconic!

Josuke, the protagonist, is a very entertaining character. He's kind and noble, but also short tempered and pragmatic at times.
It's the reason the creator of JJBA considers Josuke his favorite character, to the point he created a self-insert just to be in the same saga as Josuke.
Spoilers for the funniest scene in the entire series, skip the rest of my comment to preserve the funny.
Josuke is a very noble person to a fault, and makes a point to never harm the defenseless. So, when his opponent is revealed to be hospitalized but still a threat due to having powers that don't require him to be even remotely near his target, Josuke HAS to beat some sense into him.
But Josuke has the power to "repair" things, which he has found several uses for.
So he heals the enemy before breaking every bone in his body and launching him out of the hospital window, into the fountain.

I feel like what makes your videos so effective is your genuine love for music and hearing new pieces of it
They use some elements of Jotaro's theme in the base around 3:36. Josuke's theme is also integrated into parts of Great Days, one of the openings you heard. I'm not sure where you heard the piano riff before, but I think it is really impressive how they manage to make something with references to other related pieces and yet they make all of them sound like their own unique thing.
Every jojo theme after part 3 borrows a bit from the ones previous. You can hear Jotaro's theme a bit in Josuke, Giorno, and Jolyne and that piano was definitely brought to Giorno's theme.
Just so we're clear, it goes Jonathan, Joseph, Jotaro, Josuke, Giorno, Jolyne, Johnny, Gappy.
Note that “Gappy” is a fan name for the Part 8 protagonist, Josuke, often used in the western fandom. His name is romanized exactly like the other Josuke. Aside from “Gappy”, he’s also called “hat Josuke”, “Jo2uke”, “Josuk8”, or simply “Josuke 2” or “Josuke (JJL)”.

i really like JOSUKE! after having so specific behaviors on previous jojo’s we got josuke and i was OMG a normal JOJO but he was sooo niiice and soo kind hearted like Jonathan then so smart and clever and funny like Joseph and he got angry sooo suddenly and looks just like jotaro i enjoyed sooo much experiencing new things about josuke i felt that he’s normal because he’s behavior changes and we keep knowing new things about he’s personality.

My nick is base on his Power, Heavens Door. Which is a reference to Bob Dylan song.
The intro came from jotaros theme, and the piano lick reappears in giornos theme. All the character theme lock together really well, and with the new part 6 theme you see it too
Okuyasu's Theme (The Hand) would be the next song I'd choose to react to. There are also some good villain themes in JoJo's. I would recommend listening to either the Pillar Men theme or Kira's theme.

A nice comparison to this is Josuke's other theme, "Stand Activated". A more aggressive, fully guitar based version that usually plays when he gets really mad

Don't think I've seen this mentioned, but I think the high pitch slide that comes at the end of the first chorus might be a slide whistle, it explains how the pitch can move down then back up to compliment the melody

Josuke is the protagonist of a part of jojo that is a hide and seek between a serial killer and the group trying to uncover them so I always imagined the piano being the killer being sneaky and the guitar being the group hunting them down, Jotaro's part was about a journey which is probably why it went through so many different genres

Every Jojo's protagonist theme shares some element from the last, incorporating it into the song and evolving it in a way that feels like a natural progression from the last. A thematic choice as each character is a literal and figurative evolution in the story being descendants.

Honestly Part 4 has one of the best Anime OST i've heard so far. Doesn't matter if crazy funky bizzare town or this, both sound fucking amazing
This theme is spectacular because it combines so many riffs from other characters' themes like Jotaro and sampled in giornos theme. It's brilliant because it captures the theme of its part and it's overarching plot

you know honestly listening and breaking down the song the more it makes sense according to the plot like the spacey sound relating to Mikitaka and the rough sound like you know Josuke of course but also a little of Okuyasu and the simple and artistic sound like Koichi and of course the little sounds of Jotaros theme

You've heard this lick before from the "great days" opening. They both sound similar which is why you thought u heard it before
The electronic sound at 6:35 is also borrowed from the second part of Great Days (you'd know it as the third version from the openings video). Both are supposed to give the impression of tuning an old radio, which is somewhat relevant to this part of Jojo (episodes in Part 4 often start with a radio broadcast playing, which is mostly just setting the tone/how this part is).
He was right about it sounding a bit alien though- remember Mikitaka? The composers for this series are on another level

Bruno's theme, "Furious Fight" is insanely good and far different than any other Jojo OST

The theremin is the “electric keyboard thing” he mentioned with outer space that goes woooooaahhhaaaooooaaaaaaaaah. It operates based on frequency and you control the pitch the theremin has based on the position of your hand. Pretty fun instrument

Aside from that, you've got a great ear. This references Jotaro's, and would inspire motifs in Giorno's themes. The bloodline is even in the OST (even though some Jojo's are more directly related than others!)

The fact that almost all of the characters, if not all, for the themes are related. The music proves they are all related. Hence the similarity im the piano and gironos theme
