    Fascinated with how your cat stays with you rather than climbing the tree or going off into a hidey hole where he is hard to catch to bring back home. And, why he isn’t jumping onto the boat next to you to go exploring. He is such a beautiful cat and apparently super smart!

    Today after watching, I have to say that I probably follow four different Sailing the world type subscriptions and for a man with a family which I am seriously considering taking up live aboard with, You two have simply made the difference between day dreams and true planning. The information is very useful. I can relate to your feed back. Especially in this FAQ post!! Taking the time to share your purchase, survey, moving into, learning to sail, and then a few experiences, makes me confident it doesnt take some crazy single 24 yr old saltwater freak to live on a boat and explore the world. My wife and I lived in a Rv for 6 years. I love the ocean we live in florida, and getting out there is something we both have real interest in.
    Maybe well see you on the water some day. Never listen to the haters, and thanks for all your sharing with us!!!

      +jim28fl thanks! We try to share it all, the mistakes, the hassles and expenses all side by side with the adventures. I'm glad you're enjoying our new life on the water, hope to see you out here in the future.

    Been following you both for quite a while now and think of you as really good friends - which is silly really as, of course, we've never met and may never do so. Over the years you've become more confident, more knowledgeable and now more adventurous and it's a privilege to be able to accompany you on this fascinating journey, so a huge thank you for that. The Q&A was a great insight into the challenges you face and overcome each day since you've moved from tarmac onto the water. When you decide to head east, there'll be a warm welcome waiting for you on the west coast of England! Thanks again, you really are quite an inspiring couple.

    I wrote a few days ago WoW just look at how many views you guys have ( that was at 35,057 if I recall and now your past over 47,000 ) and still climbing. Keep up the great job and make sure not only to keep entertaining us nosey viewers but keep having fun together. You have just begun another new adventure for all of us. We will all keep growing with you both. Thank You both, from myself & my therapy K-9 Cooper, Cheers

    I really appreciate the depth you go into your videos about the cost of this new adventure. Some of the other sailors on You Tube seem to forget about this as they continue their adventures. Paying for your new life on deck is I believe one of the main uncertainties many people face. So when you continue your amazing new lifestyle and make these wonderful videos for us, I wanted to tell you thank you for the little bit of the "cost" you add in.

  • @jenniewilliams1668

    You look healthy if a bit stressed, but you are going through an expected and predictable set of stressors that will obviously move like the water moves around you. Sending you love and I'm glad that you are aware of your impact on the world as you go through it - its one of your true beauties that stands out. You are brave and fun people.

    I admire you two for pursuing your dreams. My wife and I plan to go sailing in the near future as well. I noticed that with sharing our journey on TH-cam, there may be negative people and rude comments. How do you deal with those? I don't know that I could remain civil if a rude person said something personal or insulting. You're sharing your lives with the world after all, and even though there are many wonderful people out there, there are also some with little to no manners. Love what you're doing, and watching you both deal with the learning curve. Fair winds to you.

    Your videos never fail to make me smile! Definitely enjoyed the Q & A. Will look over on your website to see if you talk about having to board another persons boat to get off of yours. I would find that awkward and I don't know if I would be so accommodating if it were my boat. You both do a great job with making and editing videos! Keep smiling, Valerie

    • @icebear1559
      @icebear1559 8 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      this is just part of boating. when at crowded or government docks you raft up and you go over the other boat. but there is agreed method to this. if possible you walk over the bow so you dont disturb the other boat and walk softly. and always wipe your feet.

    always get a much larger anchor then rated for your boat, helps reduce dragging

    • @henrymp6295
      @henrymp6295 8 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Rob I will not disagree, but the anchor is half the equation. I have two anchors on my Gulf 32 that displaces 18K #s - (1) Standard steel Fortress traditional anchor and (2) a Lewmar plow/claw. Bottom conditions (mud) usually called for the standard and I would drag anchor often. What I changed was the chain rode length (doubling on this) and the problem was solved. A large anchor works, but an anchor suited for displacement using additional chain rode will give you a good rest.Cheers

    • @icebear1559
      @icebear1559 8 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      oh you could drink alot of beer on this one. how many evenings we have spent talking about whos anchor is better and how big a chain to have and how much to use.
      my motto is get the biggest hook your boat can carry and the biggest chain. i want to grab the bottom and not let go.
      our Cat is just 3 feet shorter then the Winds and it is 20k lbs full with all tanks topped off. so we can lighten that by 3 ton if we drop all the water and fuel. we have a Rocna 33 and Sarca Excel for a 59ft boat. Cats have more windage so we go big.
      and we always put down 5 to 1 if we can. but we have had to spend lots of nights at 3 to 1.
      i think i need another beer.
      no one ever wins this discussion.

    • @henrymp6295
      @henrymp6295 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      You are correct Ice Bear and it was in one such discussion I got the rode advice. The anchor was rated for much more than the boat and extending the rode solved my problem. Never meant to brag on my anchor, but since you have that other beer in you I can relay a story. Happened eight years ago. I was anchored just off the metro airport runway when a 747 radioed an emergency. His mid-flight test of rear thrusters failed and he only had 3300 feet to safely land the plane including 270 souls. I tuned him in on CB (FAA approved Ch 47) and suggested he drop his tail hook just before landing. I checked the anchor a minute before, tied a bowline on the main sheet end, tossed and lassoed his tail hook. The plane stopped seventeen feet after the wheels touched. The anchor held and only 214 souls had to change their underwear, but all survived. I had to replace the main sheet, but Pan Am gladly paid half. Have another beer my friend - Cheers!!!

    Thanks for that video! We love them all and watch every single one you guys post! We also had a lot of those same questions so we're glad you did the Q&A and answered them. and BTW, We are also on our own little adventure and living in our vintage trailer that we fixed up. We are finishing school right now and plan to be traveling with it more next summer! We have posted videos of our trailer remodeling and experiences here on youtube as well and can't wait to post more!

    Very interesting video! Your Q and A was so informative. Most of these little details are completely unknown to the rest of us and I hardly know what to ask. Thank you!

    I just got back a week ago from 3 weeks in the Orlando area(I flew there). 98 degrees and 90% humidity. I'm back in California now. I'm planning to head back mid this month to early Oct in the RV for a few months(or longer). I've got a number of stops to make on the way and a few on the way back. I'm taking the southern route east and then the northern route when I return to California. All of this hopefully to capitalize on the good weather months in Florida with family. I don't know how they live there year round. You're never dry. You just change the pH of the moisture on your body with constant showering.

    Hey guys- Great series of videos. Ironically, my DW and I are on the short track for an early retirement. What you have accomplished is EXACTLY what we hope to do. We have spent the last 15 years RV'ing (vacations, etc.) so we too have some RV knowledge. I have subscribed, and will in all likelihood become a Patreon, and live the next couple of years living vicariously through you. We also have a ton of questions- but will pour through your collection of vids to see if they have been answered already. We have time- and the weather in the Northeast (we live on Cape Cod) lends itself well to winter video watching...... You both are an inspiration. God bless, fair winds. (our dream is a 44 Lagoon.)

      Kevin, not sure your budget but the 45 Leopard is pretty sweet too! Happy to help in any way we can, and yes Patreon is the best way to ask specific questions.

      We are hoping to find something close to that (dreams) but will wait to see what's out there (reality). Your experiences on the Leopard have opened our eyes a little. We found that many Charter services in the BVI and USVI use the Leopard platform- so there must be something to it. We are headed to Tortola on a vacation soon. We will be doing a little snooping while we are there...(and I think we may be reaching out to Kent at Just Catamarans, but he is probably a major celb there now and has an agent!)

      You can always reach out to Kent. He is the owner of the company and he is only able to take on a couple clients each year. however, Larry is extremely salty himself and he's the top sales dude and equally as kind as Kent.

      Thank you for the information. Perhaps if you two are plying the waterways of the Caribbean in a few years, we can meet up for a sundowner. We'll bring! Be safe!
