Never doubted it would start and run well. Lucky owner, lovely car.

I wish I was living close to you. You certainly would be doing the service on my XJ6 !
    Great job . Congratulations !

This man has great taste: he likes old Jags and darts judging by the dart board in his workshop. Now if he tells me he will be supporting England on Sunday I imagine the subs will hit 100K by...um, Monday.😉

Thank you! I’m not the biggest sports fan but off course I want England to win! Fingers crossed!

I know they v12 well since I owned an 84 xjs and did all my own work. I also had an 80 with a Chevy prior, but much preferred the v12

Great job! I changed the diff oil, greased the joints, changed coolant and 2 rear door speakers on my XJ40 this weekend. It's getting nice!

Thank you Mark! It ran even better after I opened up the throttle gaps a little. It was too tight

It has fresh 20W50 and it really liked it. Oil pressure is excellent

Get a good sized Co2 extinguisher.
I always give it a quick crank for Nano second whilst draining to flush out the oil pump. There's still plenty of oil on the bearings.

    Great job!
The first thing I noticed was the driver's windshield wiper; both should be replaced. People neglect small things like wipers, but they are imperative for safety.
The engine sounds wonderful! A test drive should confirm the work you have done was done properly.

Hello, I really enjoy watching your videos.
I have just purchased a 1988 V12 Sovereign that has been sitting for about 7 years. The car was running when the previous owner passed away. I checked if the engine turs and it does. All electrics work.
What are the first steps I should take before cranking up the engine? I don't want to make things worst!
Thanks a lot and once again, I love your channel!

Hi Adam, enjoying you're V12 work.... Quick question, how have you gone about replacing or upgrading the fuel hoses in relation to using ethanol grade R9 hose on XJS's? Interested in how you've worked around the fuel line assemblies that have crimped connectors like the one to the fuel rail, or over axles lines. New ones of these cost £££ these days, any work arounds to use the old parts with new hoses? Much appreciated as always......

Is there a list of fluids a bone stock ‘86 HE XJS should use?
Brake Fluid, Transmission Oil, Engine Oil, Coolant, Radiator fluid etc.. thank you!

Another channel had a comparison of oil filters. The variation of internal quality was quite startling, as was the identity of the really poor one. Have you read/seen/done any research on the choices avaialble to you?

Can a throttle switch on a D jetronic cause 2 injector groups to fail? Or is it injector amp or ECU? It runs on 6 cilinders

    • @LivingWithAClassic
      @LivingWithAClassic  ปีที่แล้ว

The throttle switch should not be able to do that. Sounds like amp or wiring to me.
You can run the car with the throttle potentiometer disconnected it will just rev poorly

@@LivingWithAClassic Thx. Just found out that pin 11 of the injector amplifier does not get pulses from ECU when throttle is rotated. Pin 12 does show pulses. I am trying this with ignition on only - no cranking. Is this a valid test to detect missing pulses from the ECU? ( 1976 v12 - red like yours )

This REV function of the throttle applies to all 12 cilinders i suppose? In one video you mentioned it
